Hello you two :o

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 23/01/2014 08:58

Rob did say a while back he wanted to start a family with Jess but she wanted to wait.

Do we think Jess has really gone forever. No huge scene between her and either Rob or Helen when she found out about the affair?

And speaking of Peggy's conservatism (as we were, re Usha and also female vicars) I think I remember objecting to Adam and Ian getting married. Didn't she refuse to go to the wedding? Or m I imagining that.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 23/01/2014 09:06

I remember both Brian and Ian's father said they would not ho to the wedding. But they both turned up. Cannot remember if Peggy attended - but she gets on very well with Ian I think.

Pollycazalet · 23/01/2014 09:06

You don't think Rob has an 'interest' in Henry do you? Vulnerable single mum with child and all that.

curlew · 23/01/2014 09:11

"He could live in a little hut in the woods. The Wild Boy of Ambridge. Poor wee lamb."

Poor wee lamb????? He's the most repulsive child in fiction! And I am a fan of Victorian novels, and I have read all the Pollyanna books- both the originals and the fanfic.

happystory · 23/01/2014 09:19

Maybe it was Rob who told Henry to call him daddy? Hellin did sound a bit surprised and flustered when he came out with it.

WillieWaggledagger · 23/01/2014 09:25

yes provided she really isn't under the patio, you feel there should have been some communication between rob and jess by now. not necessarily about whether to initiate divorce proceedings or whatever, as i guess it's been only a month or so since she left, but she might need some of her stuff, and if she hasn't taken up the new job (presumably she would have done by now if she was going to??) they will have to talk about money though obviously her mum is providing food and shelter

i've forgotten about whether rob has said if he's told jess about helen or not? wouldn't helen be curious about arrangements with jess (finances, divorce)?

Shallishanti · 23/01/2014 09:35

Polly, that had never occurred to me re Rob. Wouldn't that be a bit too heavy for the Archers?

PseudoBadger · 23/01/2014 09:56

I don't think TA would ever go there. It would be a stretch to get them to do DV I think.

I reckon Rob will be financially controlling/abusive. He's a bit too interested in the pecuniary potential of The Lodge, and in getting Cheesey and Baby Cheeses under his roof. He'll probably suggest a joint bank account ("we shouldn't have any secrets from each other"). Does Cheesey have her own car or does she use a family car? That might be another way Rob can control her.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/01/2014 12:23

I'm sure she has her own car - she didn't always live at home, and has to get to Ambridge Organics regularly.

Lilymaid · 23/01/2014 12:26

Is this thread being taken over by Cazalet fans (MissMilliment and Pollycazalet). I'm considering changing my name to TheDuchy.
Loved the Pat/Lillan conversation - each on different tracks. Lillian thinking that the Bridge Farm Archers have come out well, when Pat seems aggrieved.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 23/01/2014 13:03

Yes.....

Joint bank account. Then he'll offer to "take on" the burden of investing the rental income from the Lodge - in a separate account in his name. Then he'll persuade Helen to stop working - probably with another baby... He already hates Kirstie so she probably won't be allowed any friends. And he will have convinced all her family that he's the only person who can "get through to her" so they shouldn't even bother - for the sake of her health and sanity.

Eventually she'll be on the floor sobbing over an untouched salmon while he buggers off with her money to set up home with another wide-eyed innocent.

Bluestocking · 23/01/2014 13:07

You're right, Errol, she must have her own car. Will be interesting to see how the Rob takeover develops. I'm sure I remember Helen remarking on scars on Rob's arms - am I imagining things?

Shallishanti · 23/01/2014 13:17

we need to hear more from Jess

curlew · 23/01/2014 13:22

Oh, God, you don't think that Rob is an Ambridgemarriedgit? You know, like Ambridgeepilepsy that gets better overnight? So his gittishness and his being married will just never be mentioned again?

drspouse · 23/01/2014 13:45

I seem to remember they already did DV with Debbie and ?Simon, was that his name?

Pollycazalet · 23/01/2014 14:11

Lily - do it! Be TheDuchy! We can take over the thread (maniacal laugh).

I think maybe you're right that my storyline is too dark. He's pretty creepy tho.

Back to Jess - she must come back for her stuff surely? Hadn't she moved in? She can't possibly have fitted it all into a car. Didn't Rob tell Hellin he'd told Jess about her? Bet he hasn't.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 23/01/2014 14:11

Debbie & Shula & Simon Pemberton

not both at the same time of course.

Didn't he knock Shula about a bit & she was too embarrassed to say anything & then Debbie started seeing him & when he thumped her too Shula was guilt-ridden for not speaking up?

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 23/01/2014 14:13

btw have just seen on another thread that Zara P's (T's?) daughter is called Mia Grace

The bookies' favourite was Poppy, so Nic was covered either way Grin - she should have had a topical insert bet.

WipsGlitter · 23/01/2014 14:35

I've just started the first Cazalet book! Really enjoying it. Think I'll be Villy!

WillieWaggledagger · 23/01/2014 14:40

i haven't read cazalets since i was a teenager. will have to reread

Selks · 23/01/2014 14:58

Shallishanti....I think Jess will return; the SWs aren't done with her yet...

mummytime · 23/01/2014 15:26

I hope Jess returns, there are too many loose ends to just end it like that.

BTW Elizabeth Jane Howard recently died, but fortunately after churning out another Cazalet book; which answered some questions whilst leaving lots more to imagine.

ExitPursuedTheRoyalPrude · 23/01/2014 15:34

Oh good - I have just bought the first four and was worried that she might not have completed the series.

Thanks Elizabeth
