Hello you two :o

OP posts:
TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 21/01/2014 13:31

my DH thinks most of the women are the strong characters & most of the men are whiny wimps

mind you he only hears bits now & again

drspouse · 21/01/2014 14:05

My DH just says "It'll all end in tears" when he hears the theme tune. He occasionally asks what someone is doing or who someone is, but then says "Wait, I don't care and I won't understand the answer. Why am I asking?"

ppeatfruit · 21/01/2014 15:13

TheOneWith Thanks and Thank you soo much I like a good cry that was lovely Grin

mrsjavier Most of the women are quite rounded; Matt is probably the LEAST rounded character and the most stereotypical. But IMO it's the plotlines and script writers who eff it up if it is effed up. IMO It isn't. It's 100% better than any T.V. soaps so I will continue to listen and enjoy it Grin

Rant over!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 21/01/2014 15:21

We were blubbing in unison ppeatGrin

ComposHat · 21/01/2014 15:27

I think Brian is the most interesting and complex character in the Archers, he isn't a villain per se, but has deep flaws. Much more so than Matt, as you never quite know how Brian will react to things.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 21/01/2014 15:34

I keep playing the music & having a sniffly smile Smile

ppeatfruit · 21/01/2014 15:38

ZeroSome Grin Aaah sweet memories. Sad

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/01/2014 16:40

I have always rather fancied Brian Blush

GypsyFloss · 21/01/2014 17:53

...in his tasselled loafers MrsCampbellblack ? Grin

WillieWaggledagger · 21/01/2014 18:10

apparently in real life brian is married to shula

i did not know that, but i'm probably the last to know!

GypsyFloss · 21/01/2014 18:53

And they look nothing like you'd imagine in your head either Willie.

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/01/2014 19:05

He wouldn't have them on for long surely Wink

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 21/01/2014 19:07

Hide Peggy!

Shallishanti · 21/01/2014 19:09

' he can be very temperamental around corvids'

how do they do it without corpsing?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 21/01/2014 19:29

A misstepSad "Save for Henry's university fees"? Evil Rob is far too intelligent to talk such rubbish...

But what the hell does he want with the potential rent from the Lodge?

If I were Peggy I would be careful about locking my doors from now on.

Shallishanti · 21/01/2014 19:41

if I was Peggy I might be thinking about skipping another generation...

TheSparklyPussycat · 21/01/2014 19:49

Shall I suspect the answer is that they sometimes have to do several takes. Ooh Archers outtakes, now there's an idea

Helpyourself · 21/01/2014 19:50

Willie it was always 'dum de dum de dum de dum' as she put the tape recorder on
I lived overseas at the turn of the century ie only 13 years ago and my uncle used to tape me the Archers and post it out.

GypsyFloss · 21/01/2014 19:55

:) MrsCampbellBlack

GypsyFloss · 21/01/2014 19:57

Rob was very, very interested in that inheritance and I think he was also feeding Helen the lines she needs to use with Peggy if she encounters problems. Using the rent for Henry's uni fees my arse.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 21/01/2014 20:04

Yes I thought Rob was being a bit forward in planning out what Hellin should do with The Lodge.

OddFodd · 21/01/2014 20:07

I can't believe that whole 'Holly going to live with William' thing just happened overnight! I heard Emmur on the Long View this am. She's much posher but occasionally her vowel sounds slipped :o

I hope Neil and Susan's holiday pans out (although would they not be worried about being murdered?)

Shallishanti - I would love to play Lynda Snell! Can you imagine how much fun it would be?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 21/01/2014 20:21

Such a shame the actress can't use her rather lovely natural voice and accent for Emma.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 21/01/2014 20:25

I love the stark contrast between the two "inheriting" partners. On the one hand there's Kirstie who has waited patiently and loyally for years and years - she's definitely earned it.

On the other hand there's Rob....

Panzee · 21/01/2014 20:44

I don't get to listen every day but I do usually watch Postman Pat. It's great listening to Lynda playing Mrs Goggins!
