Hello you two :o

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 17/01/2014 01:42

.......It might be overindulgence if Helen were "well". But what can you do if the least bit of stress might send your only daughter back to the anorexia ward?

I must say that was indeed an impressive episode - and it's not even Friday.

Team Ed btw.

ComposHat · 17/01/2014 05:04

Have moany Tony & Pat mentioned their long lost grandson Rich recently? It all seems to have gone very quite on that front.

How long before Helen turns up on Am I being unreasonable? With a thread about cutting all contact her toxic parents who have provided her with a home, a job and round the clock childcare despite being a supposedly 'independent' ( read headstrong) thirty something.

I tend to listen to the omnibus: sounds like I've missed a belting week of action.

curlew · 17/01/2014 06:37

You don't think you might overindulge your daughter a bit if her older brother had been killed, her first long term partner had committed suicide, and she had then nearly died through anorexia?

curlew · 17/01/2014 06:39

Evien if it is Ambridgeanorexia, from which you appear to recover completely and put behind you forever...........

curlew · 17/01/2014 07:53

And what's the betting Susan's lottery win will get inflated in Emma's mind and she'll get all stroppy about only getting 500 quid?

LondonMother · 17/01/2014 08:05

Sorry, curlew, I agree with those who think that Pat and Tony (but particularly Pat) have tiptoed round Helen for far too long. Yes, she's had some exceptionally stressful life events to contend with (and she doesn't cope at all well with stress) but so have the rest of the family and they aren't as self-absorbed, manipulative and downright nasty as Helen can be at times. The consensus here is that Rob is not going to be good for Helen. I'd add that I don't think Helen will be good news for anybody she is close to unless she undergoes a radical change in personality (always a risk for anyone living in Ambridge).

Poor little Henry.

LondonMother · 17/01/2014 08:06

By the way, I'm no lottery expert, but there are several lotteries now, aren't there, not just the National Lottery? That's in response to those who've checked whether you can win £4500 on the NL!

PseudoBadger · 17/01/2014 08:08

I checked all available national and euro lottery games for several months Blush So unless it was the Health or Irish lottery then it's just plain old wrong.

OP posts:
CarolineKnappShappey · 17/01/2014 08:08

Helen isn't going to be allowed to swan off into the sunset with Rob. So Pat will be proved right.
And surely they can't have another estranged grandson, so this may rumble in for ages.

Bring back Jess!

LondonMother · 17/01/2014 08:11

Outnerded at last! OK, Pseudo, I give in. The SWs didn't do their research properly. This is shocking news! Smile

PseudoBadger · 17/01/2014 08:17

:o it's just so silly! They could've won £5000 no problem. But £4500 just isn't right.

Ok, so this policeman. I'm wishing for a SL like in Only Fools where the real policeman is bundled into a cupboard and the criminal is 'investigating' the crimes :o

And Tom, pillock though he is, seems to flog himself to death keeping the farm going, whereas Helen seems to waft in and out of the shop (leaving the donkey work to Kirsty) knocking out the very occasional Borcestshire blue (which I hope is a cheese rather than a series of rural based pornos) taking Henry to chuck organic bread at the ducks and clandestine meetings with unsuitable men. Meanwhile her aged parents provide board, lodging and on tap childcare.

curlew · 17/01/2014 08:19

Oh, Helen's definitely the fictional character I most love to hate-(with Sebasitian Flyte and Marianne Dashwood running a close joint second)- but I am most definitely Team Pat. Apart from her inexplicable inability to milk cows. That was odd.

ComposHat · 17/01/2014 08:28

I am still convinced that it will come out thst Jazzer was the donor of the sperm that created Henry.

Brillig · 17/01/2014 09:13

Arf at Pseudo checking all the lotteries

Yes, Hellin is basically self-centred and manipulative and will ever be thus. Have you noticed how she turns every single conversation round to herself? She choked Krusty off the other week when she was babbling wedding plans (admittedly v annoying) by doing one of those speciality Hellin deep sighs that make everyone obediently switch the focus straight to her.

And as for that exasperated way she says 'Muuuuuum' as a warning to Pat, cutting her off after a couple of words........drives me spare.

Awful woman but have to admit the SL is really hotting up

curlew · 17/01/2014 09:16

We have a local lottery in aid of the hospice and you could win 4500 quid on that.

PseudoBadger · 17/01/2014 09:33

Ah that'll be it Curlew. It must've been the church lottery.

OP posts:
OddFodd · 17/01/2014 09:37

If I were Pat, I'd pack Hellin's bags and turf her and Henry out right now. I can't bear people who can't hear any criticism of their parenting. And how fucking stupid to move in with Rob so soon. Poor Henry

She makes me so cross!

WillieWaggledagger · 17/01/2014 09:53

hmm it's funny about the anorexia thing, because obviously helen didn't choose that and she's had some other shitty things happen to her too, but likewise it can't be held as a threat against anyone disagreeing with her. i'm not saying that she actively does use it as a threat, but if that's what is happening then the 'treading on eggshells' thing is how it feels for people in abusive relationships

ThoughtFox · 17/01/2014 09:53

Yes, I think it must have been the local hospice lottery. Also seems more likely that Susan would take part in that than the National Lottery.

CuttedUpPear · 17/01/2014 10:21

What Alan the Vicar gets up to in his spare time

ErrolTheDragon · 17/01/2014 10:28

Maybe it was Rob rather than Helen who put the 'Daddy' idea into Henry's mind, but she's delighted to play Happy Families.

And what's the betting Susan's lottery win will get inflated in Emma's mind and she'll get all stroppy about only getting 500 quid?

No, I don't think so - £500 is a lot to Emma and Susan. I thought it made a nice counterpoint to Hazel's outrage about the paltry size of her inheritance.

Ladyflip · 17/01/2014 12:03

THe thing is, we all know that Rob + Hellin = disaster, not least because we're quite sure that Jess knows nothing about Hellin. So, once Hellin has burned her bridges at Bridge Farm, gone off in a strop to Rob's and then it all goes wrong, will Pat do her usual thing of forgiving Hellin for her entitled and outrageous behaviour and welcome her back to the fold, or will she and Tony actually make the poor dear stand on her own two feet and live with the mistakes she has made?

Team Ed by the way, but he can be a pillock.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/01/2014 12:12

Pat will cave for Henry's sake (or at least that's what she'll say).

WipsGlitter · 17/01/2014 12:26

It would be good (storywise) if Helen and Rob did make a go of it and there was just the simmering tension forever, lots of good aibu threads!!!

Where has Jess gone?
