Loved the announcer as well! I want to hear everyone's immediate reaction to Helen's news - putting it at the end of the episode means we just heard Pat's sputtering and that's it. Of well - I guess the fall out has just begun. Can't believe Helen couldn't even give Kirsty's wedding plans the time of day given how much she has bent Kirsty's ear about Rob the last few weeks. Oh...hang on...this is Helen we are talking about isn't it?

like artex said i'm not sure why rob is pushing for it in the first place? you would think he would want to wait a bit before making it public so it's less obvious he's been a cheating wanker

SenoritaViva · 07/01/2014 21:43

I hadn't quite realised how selfish Helen can be; I think they've played it very well. How could you not be a good friend to Kirsty and get excited for her, she's been brilliant to Helen in the past weeks. I hope they tell her to get out and take her blue veiny cheese with her.

Ambridge Organics will need to change it's name to Ambridge Harlots

SenoritaViva · 07/01/2014 21:45

Agreed Willie. If 'twas me (god I hope not), I'd insist he announce Jess leaving first and then lay low for a while...

WillieWaggledagger · 07/01/2014 21:45

i hope tom and kirsty are FURIOUS too, would be a relief to listen to

WillieWaggledagger · 07/01/2014 21:46

lol senorita, i think if you were helen you'd have done a LOT of things differently Grin

PseudoBadger · 07/01/2014 22:10

Helen had decided they would be together months ago. Therefore why wait? IT IS WRITTEN. The SWs, her family and now Rob treat her like she is Anthony Freemont from "It's a Good Life"...

The fab announcer was referred to as Eggy on the BBC board.

Helen she puts the meeeememememememememememeeeee in 'its all about me'.

I like new Tone

WillieWaggledagger · 07/01/2014 22:17

Grin at anthony freemont, i had forgotten that story, that is EXACTLY it

PseudoBadger · 07/01/2014 22:20

Enjoy!

I hope so too Williwaggler. To be fair, she couldn't have known Kirstie and Tom would walk in with news but she has been as self obsessed as usual about their news v. Her news since Xmas.

Cutteduppear lots of discussion about the Tony actor change, and links to the BBC announcement, on this thread. It was also discussed on PM last week.

ReallyOverThis · 08/01/2014 00:51

Artex, I can forgive them for accelerating the wedding plans a bit. It's boring enough sustaining your interest in an engaged couple's upcoming wedding in real life when it takes years to plan, so would not exactly make great radio. Also, they need to draw the contrast between Kirsty and Brenda, who dragged her feet for years over setting a date. Being charitable, perhaps easy enough to organise when you ha e local contacts and don't intend toook further than your own village for the venue.

ReallyOverThis · 08/01/2014 03:24

And I see they've also picked a weekday. That's always much quicker.

I like New Tony, not better than Old Tony but we'll get used to him I am sure. Though not sure Tony the character would actually describe Hazel as "weapons grade plutonium"- Tony never was one for a dramatic or colourful turn of phrase. He's more likely to have said "she might cause some bother" or in fact to have totally forgotten all about the potential for drama.

Was just thinking how awful for Colin Skipp to play a heart attack when he'd had several IRL.

CuttedUpPear · 08/01/2014 06:47

I like Hellin can "Take her veiny blue cheese with her" some allusion to her beau perhaps?

And ArtexMonkey's plot suggestion of Jess turning up stuffed in someone's fish kettle. Cunning.

However difficult though it may be for OldTony with his own health concerns, I can't help feeling that the SWs have missed a trick by not allowing him another heart attack on receipt of Hellin's glad tidings.

Hellqueen giving out the news on a Tuesday night allows for the build up to a good Thursday night blow out with ensuing Friday cliffhanger.

nennypops · 08/01/2014 08:28

I wonder if it occurred to TomnKirsty for one moment that there's a reason why most people choose Saturdays for weddings?

WillieWaggledagger · 08/01/2014 08:36

Problem is if they choose Saturday for a wedding then it can't be broadcast

WillieWaggledagger · 08/01/2014 08:37

Actually I have no idea if that's true - do they ever cover Saturday with the show on other days?

Bluestocking · 08/01/2014 08:39

Also Saturdays are booked up years in advance and Thursdays aren't! K and T's families and friends (at least the Ambridge based contingent) won't have any trouble taking the day off since they all work for each other.
Will Brenda turn up dripping with diamonds and with a Russian hunk on her arm?

WhatSheSaid · 08/01/2014 09:02

Have Kirsty's family ever been mentioned. She seems relation-less. Will they bring in anyone for the wedding or will it be "Oh look, there's Tony over there chatting to Kirsty's mum!"

Bluestocking · 08/01/2014 09:15

I was just thinking about that. I think K must be a foundling, left in a newspaper parcel on the steps of the orphanage in Borchester.

PseudoBadger · 08/01/2014 09:21

She mentioned her mum last night I think?
