Oh Artex I want your name!

stowsettler · 07/01/2014 16:57

Oooh goody. An Archers fred.

WRT the whole HellRob farce, my worry is that this potentially fabulous storyline will just die another death, like so many others:-

  • the Rich instant grandson thing
  • Nigel being killed. I remember the producers saying that it would SATTC and Ambridge wouldn't be the same for many years to come. Well, that didn't happen did it? Lizzie'd forgiven Dour Dave within months.
  • Adam and his fling with, ummm, what was his name?

Seems to me that the SEs manage to come up with these great characters and then just let the potential leak away. S'rubbish, it is.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/01/2014 17:02

stow - TBF, Ambridge isn't the same since we lost Nigel. Killing off a nice, mildly eccentric character leaves a hole. Not sure that's what they meant!

Who knows, Pavel might reappear another strawberry-picking time. And Rich very probably will reappear from time to time. There's no reason for him to be mentioned much day to day.

campion · 07/01/2014 17:38

I don't think he's been mentioned in the last year, Errol.

Perhaps he'll get an invite to Tom'nKirsty's wedding.

GypsyFloss · 07/01/2014 17:54

ArtexMonkey you have eloquently summed up my big question. Why indeed.

GypsyFloss · 07/01/2014 19:06

Is this the new Tony I hear?

JaneEyresHeir · 07/01/2014 19:08

Must be Gypsy - I was bamboozled for a bit!

dimestore · 07/01/2014 19:09

I just heard the new Tony but couldn't work out what was going on. Where is the old one?

NorthernLurker · 07/01/2014 19:11

Old Tony too ill to continue. New Tony absolutely bloody awful. He's just told PAt to back off! Old Tony would never have dared to do that.

Has Henry been decapitated by a goose?

NorthernLurker · 07/01/2014 19:15

Who gets married on the Thursday after EAster?

CuttedUpPear · 07/01/2014 19:16

WHAT???
New Tony??
Where is the old one?

I was not informed
[hoiks]

CarolineKnappShappey · 07/01/2014 19:19

Thank God it's out in the open.

I think the RobHellin stuff is cringeworthy. But they have really been dragging out the reveal.

JaneEyresHeir · 07/01/2014 19:20

Cutted - see Songbird's post on Fri 3 Jan for link.
Northern - Tom and Kirsty have just set the date 24/04/14.
Very memorable, apparently...

WillieWaggledagger · 07/01/2014 19:32

From Kirsty's reaction I thought it was going to turn out it was the anniversary of someone's death or something, but no... (St George's day / Shakespeare is 23rd I think??)

Liked the continuity announcer's comment at the end.

Agree with your Q artex, thought rob would want to keep it in the dark longer

curlew · 07/01/2014 19:34

Rob's reaction will be interesting............

CuttedUpPear · 07/01/2014 20:00

Ah I see. No deading to be done then, just NewTony. Well I hope he grates less than NewClarrie.

GypsyFloss · 07/01/2014 20:12

Rob has been pushing for this so in theory he should be pleased. Equally he might be the opposite and tell her that's not what they agreed and she is bonkers.

I don't like new Moaney Tony. He's just not moaney enough.

I wonder if Hellqueen is actually pregnant after all? I got the feeling she ought have had more to tell Kirsty than just that she and shifty bollocks are setting up home together.

Panzee · 07/01/2014 20:13

To be fair to NewClarrie she is OldClarrie too!

OddFodd · 07/01/2014 20:32

What exactly is so exciting about that date? I ran it over and again in my head and I still can't figure it out Blush

Urgh - Hellin is such a spoiled princess. How dare she be so rude and stroppy to Pat - of course she was going to be concerned about her, given her big lead up! I hope she and Tony refuse to babysit ever again once they find out they were covering for her sordid little shagfest with the mega-dairy milksop

GypsyFloss · 07/01/2014 20:33

Is new Clarrie also the same one as before the proper one and only Clarrie?

JaneEyresHeir · 07/01/2014 20:40

Think it was just because of 'all the fours' Odd.
Not exactly exciting though!

ErrolTheDragon · 07/01/2014 20:40

I think New Tony will be fine once we've got used to a different voice. And I'm pretty sure Old Tony did sometimes tell Pat to back off too.

OK - cat is among the pigeons now!

Is Kirsty going to turn into a Bridezilla?

Lomaamina · 07/01/2014 20:46

I love that continuity announcer. He always has something pithy to say. Today's was brilliant, along the lines of: "a date for history - Pat speechless!"

GypsyFloss · 07/01/2014 20:50

He used to post on the old BBC archers board, usually just before or after his chatty asides.
