I liked the way poor sweet Caroline tried to mend the shot dog thing between the 2 stupid brothers. Just to make it worse Xmas Grin

ppeatfruit · 06/12/2013 15:27

I forecast a few flying feathers in the turkey shed Xmas Grin

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 06/12/2013 15:27

The photo story was terribly unconvincing because that Emma is blindingly gorgeous & Will...isn't!

ppeatfruit · 06/12/2013 15:29

Aah but he's solid with a house and prospects etc.

LondonMother · 06/12/2013 15:54

Sorry, Bitoutofpractice, I'm so hardened to the weird, not at all like the pictures in my head actor photos it didn't even register. Will try to remember that in future.

BitOutOfPractice · 06/12/2013 16:08

Thank you London

I know I'm a bit loopy but I have pictures in my head too.

New BF suggested a tour of the studios as a Christmas present for me. I wasn't sure if to dump him or kill him!

ppeatfruit · 06/12/2013 17:55

Aaah he was being kind BitOutOf poor bloke Xmas Sad!!!

BitOutOfPractice · 06/12/2013 18:05

To be fair, he's never listened but I'm starting to train him. When he came round in the week he asked if any dogs had been shot yet!

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 06/12/2013 18:38

It does take a long time to train up a sceptical new listener. I suspect no-one ever really gets it if they haven't listened from childhood....

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 06/12/2013 19:15
Xmas Sad
Panzee · 06/12/2013 19:31

Don't like The Archers on Facebook if you're a podcast listener. Spoilers! :(

Eastpoint · 06/12/2013 19:57

The whole Will, Ed, Emma & George thing is just so awful, it will never end (marking place so I can click on 'threads I'm on').

Bluestocking · 06/12/2013 21:53

I am having a senior moment. Do we actually know whose son George is? Or is that whole can of worms out there for us to enjoy in years to come?

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 06/12/2013 21:56

He's Will's son.

(Have a look at LM's link above for a reminder of the whole saga.)

JollyGolightly · 06/12/2013 21:58

So happy to find this new thread, a welcome distraction from the dubious delights of the season, and an excellent title too.

I've come back round a bit recently, have to admit to being gripped by the Hell'n Rob storyline, and really enjoyed the archivist being interviewed on Feedback toady. I loved the concept of her having to keep an eye on a huge, bescribbled Farmers' Year wallchart to make sure that the script doesn't have someone draining the well when all regular listeners will know full well it's the time of year for scranletting down at ticklepenny corner.

HumphreyCobbler · 06/12/2013 21:59

There is hope for those who didn't listen from childhood - I get it and I did not know radio 4 existed until I went to university and found it by accident. Blush I listened to The Archers from my late twenties, with the Brian, Siobhan and Jenny love triangle getting me really hooked. That was a great storyline

I needed the Archers Family Tree to fill in the background, that was a great present from my DH.

Bluestocking · 06/12/2013 22:00

Thanks! I remember now, I was crushed - he should have been Ed's.

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 06/12/2013 22:14

I enjoyed hearing the archivist too. She seemed to know what she was doing. But I have very little faith that the SWs are paying equal attention to the characters involved - there's just too much that is implausible.

I'm was surprised at tonight's events. (Won't spoil for later listeners...) Not sure if they plan to turn things round for "happy ever after" by Christmas - or the opposite.

Humphrey You and I must be the only people in history who spent their university evenings with the radio when all around were...doing whatever other students did. (I have no idea what that might have been....)

LondonMother · 06/12/2013 22:15

I haven't seen any spoilers so have no idea what is going to happen to Darrell. Fingers crossed. No one who has read my monomania ravings on the subject of Darrell will be in any doubt what I am hoping will the outcome.

HumphreyCobbler · 06/12/2013 22:22

Grin Zero, I still remember the moment I first heard Glennis Kinnock talking about why political correctness was a good thing. I was hooked from that moment. I still think Radio 4 is worth my entire license fee.

miggy · 06/12/2013 22:24

Have missed a chunck, last listen joe had fallen down, broken bits of himself and the grundys were sueing Greygables, this week Oliver was having a ride in Joe's Cart, how did that come about?

Minimammoth · 06/12/2013 22:45

I am grateful for the Darrel background. Don't remember him being one for the drink that much. Is that the personality transplant you were all on about. How has he manifested a couple of adultish children? They seem to have sprung from nowhere, or am I not paying attention.

LondonMother · 06/12/2013 22:57

Miggy, they bonded over sloe gin.

Minimammoth, do you remember Elona, Darrell's wife? Aka Elona The Beautiful Albanian Spy. She used to clean for Pekky, sorry, Peggy, in the gaps between shifts at The Laurels. She chucked Darrell out, left Ambridge and took the girls with her - Rosa and Anna, I think. None of them have any time for Darrell now. Rosa works for Mike in some capacity and has a scooter. Anna is a Silent Character which is odd as she is also musical.

MarianForrester · 06/12/2013 23:03

Is Kirsty going to get together with Rob...? Doomed love, upset Hellin, and Tom, disastrous and soapy Christmas?

Panzee · 06/12/2013 23:10

How is Peggy managing now Elona has gone? I remember comments about how untidy the house was. Shock
