New thread for the beginning of the pheasant season.

OP posts:

Oh Clarrie was rubbish at the height of ed/will/emmur affair - when she basically told will he just had to accept that ed was George's now - like he was a toy to be passed around.

And I'm afraid I've never liked emma - remember her plotting to run away abroad with George and ed and not tell Will?

Somethingyesterday · 09/10/2013 19:17

Are they channeling "The Caretaker"? Poor Darrell and his tools at this legendary mate's place....

And I'm surprised that such a seasoned professional as Caroline is so upset by a relatively minor accident. What on earth are "they" planning to do with Grey Gables?

ErrolTheDragon · 09/10/2013 19:52

It was a bit plonkingly 'public service broadcasting' tonight, wasn't it?

Impomea · 09/10/2013 21:48

Taken ages to catch up is MN slow today or is it my rubbish internet?
Congratulations PB !

ErrolTheDragon · 09/10/2013 22:15

Yes, MN was slow tonight. Apparently a thread got mentioned in the media and went viral.

Somethingyesterday · 09/10/2013 23:42

Finally we seem to be back to normal. I wrote such a beautiful post,Hmmthorough, witty, closely argued. Was completely chewed up and discarded by internetness.

Something about "them" having read this thread and produced a super-quick re-write to make Shula look less clueless. Can't remember the rest.Grin

ppeatfruit · 10/10/2013 09:27

That's Sad Something I wondered what was going on on here last night too ;which thread was it Errol?

WRF to Clarrie I don't remember that reaction during 'The Affair' MrsCampbell maybe she has a stultified imagination!

Somethingyesterday · 10/10/2013 10:19

Nah! You really didn't miss anything by not having to read itGrin

I wonder if in future years Darrell will be looked on as a pillar of the community? Sir Local Building Magnate or Lord Charitable Benefactor... Didn't Jack and Sid begin as troubled or troublesome incomers? (Someone tell me where Brian sprang from...) All this Shula-endowed empowerment has to lead somewhere surely?

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/10/2013 10:30

Could Darrell not go an do some of the renovation work at lower Loxley and then become Elizabeth's new boyfriend or a step too far Wink

Its interesting how much I loathe emma and yet I rather love Brine whose behaviour was probably worse.

They are doing that thing where they are just making her so one dimensional - you can almost hear the booing and hissing as the appears.

R4 · 10/10/2013 11:00

you can almost hear the booing and hissing as the appears.

You mean, because we have no Christmas Panto, we have 1D-Emmur instead? It all makes sense now.Grin

Somethingyesterday · 10/10/2013 14:02

Oh, MrsC I like your thinking. Of course Shula should pass him on to her sister. There will be loads of work, if they can resist having Elizabeth hire some tiny Cornish firm who are the "only" people for the job.

And Darrell really needs a new community. Lower Loxley could surely provide him with accommodation - so his daughters could go and stay. I've forgotten the name of Julia's partner (runs the Art Gallery?) but he could take Darrell under his wing..... Possibilities are endless.

ppeatfruit · 10/10/2013 14:31

Brilliant thinking MrsCampbell and Something Talking Lizzie's paramours what's happened to the gorgeous Ifti? iiwm i'd not have chucked him out 'cor Grin

LondonMother · 10/10/2013 15:29

Brilliant thinking, as long as he is so busy at LL that he becomes completely silent!

ppeatfruit · 10/10/2013 15:54

Yeah and we can have Ifti back Grin

GrendelsMum · 10/10/2013 17:14

Oh, DH and I love Bitchy Emma.

Bitchy Emma seems to be the only thing causing DH to smile at the moment :)

kiriwawa · 10/10/2013 17:33

ppeafruit - yy, Ifti is always swoonsome in my head too! I'm not going to look him up on TA website as I'm bound to be sorely disappointed :o

Emma is really, really getting on my nerves, she's such a bloody drama queen. She has one baby, a child at school who spends half the week at his dad's and cleans for about 3 hours a week. And yet still finds getting a recipe book together far too much like hard work. Despite having 2 NVQs in catering!

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 10/10/2013 17:36

'Keira's always been ever so advanced...'. They're really gunning for Emma, aren't they? And yet I'm sure we're meant to like Hellin, who is just as bad but in a more middle class way.

kiriwawa · 10/10/2013 17:51

Surely we're not supposed to like Hellin with her husband-shagging ways? She's the most self-absorbed navel-gazer in the village!

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 10/10/2013 18:10

But she is an Archer! Maybe not like, but not find her funny as we are supposed to with Emma. Emma's emotions are all risible and ignoble; hellin's are serious and real and proper fucked-up.

ppeatfruit · 10/10/2013 19:08

MMMnn deep thoughts TheOriginal I think you may be right that Hellin is all greek tragedy and Emm is coco the clown Grin

WipsGlitter · 11/10/2013 11:13

I loved it last night -or just now in work more accurately-- with Debbie bigging up Rob and Hellin getting all uncomfortable. Love to see how it's all going to work out!

Somethingyesterday · 11/10/2013 11:26

Debbie sounded ridiculously keen on Rob....

Gigondas · 11/10/2013 14:38

Emma is a pantomime character now. I did laugh at Tom making Kirsty a playlist -are they 16? -and going on about being in bed all day.

curlew · 11/10/2013 14:43

Working class characters are either criminal, funny or upwardly mobile in the Archers, sometimes all three. Or occasionally salt of the earth.

I continue my theme- the script writers are treating their listeners with utter contempt. It makes me genuinely cross.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/10/2013 14:58

Nice to have Brine reminding us he's a dinosaur. Men should work and wives should just get on and look after aged parents/babies/dead lover's children etc without all this paternity leave etc nonsense.
