New thread for the beginning of the pheasant season.

OP posts:
GypsyFloss · 22/11/2013 21:30

I can't imagine Kirsty cheating on the sausage baron or on Helen tbh. I think there might be mileage, as suggested upthread , in Jess thinking there's something between Rob and Kirsty . Whether Helen can hold her tongue is another matter...

GypsyFloss · 22/11/2013 21:31

I didn't hear tonight, what did I miss? Have they got Darryl scrumping the holly?

ErrolTheDragon · 22/11/2013 23:10

No - Neil and Eddie asked around to find him some work, they found something on a building conversion project but Eddie described it as 'cash in hand' ... which of course wouldn't worry Eddie overmuch but Shula was dubious about. Darryl will probably screw up his benefits. Bit surprised that Neil seems to have been involved, I'd have thought he'd have had the nous to work out the potential issues.

ppeatfruit · 23/11/2013 08:54

rocknroll they're in a difficult situation if one decides to drop out they need a very good excuse, of course Kirsty can't tell Lynda why she hates Rob can she?

Blimey Sthing if everyone who worked 'on the black" was prosecuted the courts wouldn't be able to move.

GypsyFloss · 23/11/2013 09:14

Thanks Errol

ppeatfruit · 23/11/2013 15:22

Blimey I LOVED drunk and maudlin miserable moaning Hellin Grin Shock poor Kirsty!!

cheminotte · 24/11/2013 12:04

Finally caught up. Yes i was cringing for poor First!

cheminotte · 24/11/2013 12:05

Kirsty not First!!

MrsCampbellBlack · 24/11/2013 16:52

Kirsty is annoying me, honestly the dotty shirt thing nearly drove me over the edge. I imagine he is as sexually alluring as Pudsey the bear [shudders]

I wonder what Ruth's reaction was to Jill running Josh over - lordy can you imagine on here if your mil had done that?

TheSontaranPussycat · 24/11/2013 17:23

I really thought Kirsty would put up a better act with Rob, so as not to arouse Lynda's suspicions. And I thought (and still hope) that that would backfire, and Jess get the wrong idea.

I also liked maudlin Helen pp, though I hate listening to the Darryl stuff which fills me with a kind of embarrassed dread.

I imagine Tom as quite hot physically, and am such a saddo that I would be interested in the details of the Sausage Business. I also reckon Kirsty is hot, so Tom must be.

LondonMother · 24/11/2013 18:01

'AIBU to go NC with MIL after she nearly ran down DS1 in our yard? It could be reeeeeeeelllly awkward as she lives just down the road and all DH's relatives live here too and nobody from their family is ever wrong about anything, but I'm flipping* furious! We've all been telling her for weeks that she needs to get her eyes tested and DS1 could have been killed.'

*Flipping is obviously the word the SWs would use, but on the real AIBU I suspect it might be replaced by another word.

TheSontaranPussycat · 24/11/2013 19:45

'As Stir-up Sunday has now passed (I assume she helped with this and that you are crap at cooking) I think you would not BU to go NC now'

Ponks · 24/11/2013 22:51

campbellblack I seem to remember a few years ago (around the time when Tom was in court?) he was described as being like Brad Pitt so there must be something alluring about him!

nennypops · 25/11/2013 00:58

Hellin is so going to break down and Reveal All to Jess, isn't she? Probably around Christmas Eve. We can only hope that Jess's reaction is a hefty slap round the face, followed by a swift kick to Rob's balls.

ppeatfruit · 25/11/2013 08:44

I feel a bit sorry for Jill (my mum helped in an old people's centre where quite a few of them couldn't accept that they had to stop driving) it must be hard esp. in the coutryside; good of St. Shula to do her shopping and to put her closest relationships at risk over the hopeless Das. Shock Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 25/11/2013 09:30

What are they going to do with Darryl now, I wonder?

heronsfly · 25/11/2013 14:37

I did think for a moment that Darryl might be deaded Sad, I think they should call in medical help, he obviously did a bunk when shula dropped him off outside the docs. If I was Alistair i would have just shoved him in the door of the hostel.
I think we need an Archers icon, was the tardis only for one day ? Grin

RocknRollNerd · 25/11/2013 15:55

There's all kinds of possibilities now for Darryl I suspect given he's going back to the stables. It could be a massive fight with Jamie, some kind of festive tragedy involving Darryl and any/all of Alasdair, Shula and Jamie or something completely different.

I don't get why Alasdair hasn't called for medical help, the guy is surely the very definition of a danger to himself now after the panic attacks in the car and then the wandering out into traffic.

Eddie when he's helping Joe always makes me a bit sad - he's so patient and you can hear the sadness and sympathy in his voice. When they inevitably have to shuffle Joe off to the great orchard in the sky I hope they do the impact on Eddie realistically and sensitively as I think it's some of the most touching acting I've heard in the Archers for a long time.

ppeatfruit · 25/11/2013 16:13

Yesherons Or at the least taken him right INTO the place and stayed to settle him (he's like a tiny boy isn't he? he needs real help) Sad

Gigondas · 25/11/2013 17:20

I agree-take him in to see the place at least. But part of my frustration with Darrell is that Shula/alistair take him everywhere else but won't take him to see dr despite discussing it and despite it becoming glaringly obvious medical help needed .

Also even before Sunday episode, or was fairly obvious holding down the job Eddie found was going to be a stretch. Did he actually contact bloke about job despite his enthusiastic chat and tool sorting?

Agree that Eddie/jo scenes are well done. Some of old Jo there in how he called Jill mrs.

Also think thT optician will say no driving. It is a good plot line as it is a hard thing for some older people to give up ( had very similAr near misses with my mil until she sold her car. She still talks about driving despite many problems that make it inadvisable).

OddFodd · 25/11/2013 17:32

yes it would be good if they actually tackled the very real issue of older people in rural communities.

Why did Darryl freak when he heard the name of the shelter/ where it was. Is it near Ilona's flat or something?

lljkk · 25/11/2013 18:32

Is Jill going to run over somebody when D+R are in Budapest? Can't believe how nicely Ruth was talking to Jill, I'd be a bit off with my MIL for that near miss.

Rob will deny it & Jess will accuse Hellin of being delusional & deranged; H will go off deep end what with her history in spite of people like Tom & Kirsty backing her up; J will say that T+K have no proof; they will start to think J is right, H really goes bunny boiler after that.

PseudoBadger · 25/11/2013 19:02

Hello everyone :) Glad to see lots of new faces on the thread.

I loved Rob and Kirsty's rehearsal last week - really laughed at the lovely view of the petrol station :o

OP posts:
OddFodd · 25/11/2013 19:36

I really hope that PatnTony find out about Hellin and how she duped them with her jewellery classes being a cover for married man shagging.

I want the scales to fall from their eyes and for them to stop pitying her and realise what a self-centred narc their daughter actually is

Pilcrow · 25/11/2013 22:05

I found myself giving V-signs to the radio when Hellin was yelling at Rob for being so horrible to The Blessed Henry - the ultimate crime. Mind you, there's certainly needling going on between Titchyknob and Jess so I can't see that reconciliation lasting very long.

Jill's surely going to be told she has something far more serious than just needing a new pair of glasses, isn't she? She was being very blasé about it, which almost always means they're going to lob a surprise into the storyline (except that it's blatantly obvious, of course Grin).
