New thread for the beginning of the pheasant season.

OP posts:

Twill be FB, won't it? I remember some years ago telling DS that a relative (about his age) was preggers, "Oh yeah, I knew that" he replied. That was when I realised that younger people had a whole knowledge network of which, at that time, I knew nothing.

RocknRollNerd · 15/11/2013 18:23

Imagine desperate Darrell's heartless offspring as châtelaine of The Stables.

so perfectly put - that's a fab turn of phrase Grin.

Something was definitely up with Darrell last night - he was even more vague than usual, I don't think he's been to the docs yet so I presume he's edging ever closer to a festive breakdown: feck the stalls he's off his trolley fa la la la la and all that.

If Daniel is back are they going to call all the youth up on their contracts and we're going to have 6 weeks of Jamie, Daniel, Pip, Rosa et al...

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 15/11/2013 19:25

WHAT is Lynda up to with Peggy's tray bake recipe???

R4 · 15/11/2013 19:36

"If Daniel is back ..."

Woah, my head is exploding.
Daniel isn't back, is he? It's a different actor. The Who's Who says Daniel is currently played by Will Howard. Trawling around, I found that Daniel used to be played by Dominic Davies ... who is the son of Keri Davies ... who is a bloke, I always thought he was a she!!

CuttedUpPear · 15/11/2013 20:22

R4 I can't believe that you of all people didn't know Keri Davies is a bloke. Smile
It was a long established fact on Mustardland. and every time someone posted criticism of the young Daniel's acting, they were hurriedly shushed by other posters reminding them of the familial connection.

R4 · 15/11/2013 20:45

I never realised, CuttterUp. I thought that Keri was some trendy spelling of Kerry.Blush

I'm of the It's-All-True clan so producers and SW and the like don't really exist in my world so I never gave him/her that much thought.

WhatSheSaid · 15/11/2013 21:15

I had a feeling they were going to change the actor playing Daniel. A couple of weeks ago Shula talked to somebody about speaking to Daniel on the phone and said something along the lines of "I can tell how much he's grown up from his voice" i.e. we've got someone new in to play the part.

ppeatfruit · 15/11/2013 21:48

Wow the states are really incredible; Daniel's voice and his body has changed there!!! Perhaps together they've become a lad who CAN ACT Shock

choccyp1g · 15/11/2013 22:01

This is probably a very stupid question but who is Keri Davies? and why does it matter?

LondonMother · 15/11/2013 22:12

Keri Davies used to be senior producer of The Archers and set up the BBC's Archers messageboard, acting as host there for umpteen years. Along the way he stood down as senior producer and became a scriptwriter, which he still does. He also gave up as host of the MB eventually, but still looks after a lot of the Archers web stuff.

As far as I can recall, Dominic Davies gave up acting as Daniel quite a few years ago now. Can't recall if this means we are now on Daniel actor #3 or #2.

JessieMcJessie · 16/11/2013 02:12

Danike featured heavily in the first Amex. I don't know if this actor is the same one who did that. He sounds a bit different.

Darrell's habit of repeating the last line of the other person's sentence as a question is driving me mad.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 16/11/2013 09:17

That was the one where Alistair kissed Daniel's g/f yes?
with lots of inner soliloquising?
And Alistair said "so fresh" when kissing her???

MrsCampbellBlack · 16/11/2013 11:14

Just listened again. Golly, Jill is showing her true colours isn't she - I've never been a fan and I appreciate Darryl is annoying but her suggestions of pushing him onto the Grundys or Carters was just so selfish.

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/11/2013 11:38

Yes, it sounded downright nasty Shock

SthingMustBeScaringThemAway · 16/11/2013 11:38

Olivia Re Linda and the baking - there may be no harm in her own recipe alteration, but if 3NVQs decides to follow Linda's example the new recipe could lead to Emmerdale levels of devastation.

MrsC I'm struggling to understand Jill's attitude as in the past she has been a generally positive force. Two possible rationalisations: her generation are notoriously less sympathetic and more stigmatising of MH problems; and/or she may be recalling Peggy's problems (before my time...) with her alcoholic first Dh. Otherwise it's just SWs who don't really know her...

SthingMustBeScaringThemAway · 16/11/2013 11:41

.....Don't really know her so are using her as the Greek chorus going up and down wringing their hands to foreshadow the coming doom.

Helpyourself · 16/11/2013 11:49

What??!!

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/11/2013 11:52

Peggy won't like having her recipe "improved" - and neither would I!

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/11/2013 11:53

Also, I echo helpyourself - What??!!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 16/11/2013 12:09

@Helpyourself

*That was the one where Alistair kissed Daniel's g/f yes? with lots of inner soliloquising? And Alistair said "so fresh" when kissing her???*

What??!!

So it was series 2 I have just discovered
Can't listen again but synopses are here

Erin was a girl from school who Daniel asked to prom or the leavers ball or some such event
Alistair takes Daniel into Felpersham to buy his DJ (lots of refs to rites of passage)

Then Erin is doing work experience at Alistair's practice and makes a move on Alistair

I am shuddering remembering.

MrsCampbellBlack · 16/11/2013 12:24

I reckon upon further consideration whilst cleaning the bathroom, that something bad is going to happen to Jill. Could it be she knocks Darryl down and kills him whilst driving?

Gigondas · 16/11/2013 12:42

I thought Jill going on about Darrell was just a prelude to fact that it won't be so easy to get rid of him.

As for hell queen wanting to tell Jess, part of me longs for sheer lunacy of such a story but I also fear too much hell queen in the plot.

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2013 14:42

Maybe Jill's compassion goes as far as her family and foxes and that's it Grin It doesn't seem avery Christian attitude and she professes to be one doesn't she?

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2013 14:43

Oooh a good old catfight at the Bull between Hellin and Jess what fun Grin

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 16/11/2013 14:52

re Keri

when we found out, on the old old old mustardland (when it was still blue), that he is a MAN, we were ShockShockShock

anyway we started calling him Mr Keri - affectionately - like Mr Derek in Basil Brush Grin
