New thread for the beginning of the pheasant season.

Yes, sthg - the cheating man was played by Dudley Moore. It was highly implausible on many levels. I doubt that Rob could carry off a similar act, unless there's going to be some major fleshing out of his 2d character.
I have zero sympathy with Helen.
And I just adore this thread! Babies galore - congratulations to PB and Nic.

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 17/10/2013 08:36

Well we do certainly owe a mass of thanks to Pseudo for starting this, and the original, thread.

It's certainly made me very happy. Never had any Archers people to chat to regularly, in such depth, to the exclusion of more pressing issues....

Some sort of medal emoticon would be good....Halloween Smile

ppeatfruit · 17/10/2013 13:20

OOOOh sthing I heard it last night "We've decided to make another go at our marriage" Blimey Hellinn sounded soooo pissed off!!!! Grin maybe he'll leave the dairy to join Jess dahn sarf and the mega dairy goes tits up Hooray!!!

T'would be hilarious if they were both upduffed Grin

PseudoBadger · 17/10/2013 13:26

You guys.... I love chatting TA with you all Flowers

Just caught up with last night's episode - ha ha Helen. I honestly don't think it ever occurred to her that Rob wouldn't leave Jess.

In a tenuous TA link, my mum insists on calling 10 day old DD Keira rather than her actual name (pronounced Keeva). She has blamed Emma.

CuttedUpPear · 17/10/2013 13:27

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway I would congratulate you on your name change, but I don't know who you were before (due to name change...)

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2013 13:29

I'm guessing she was SomethingYesterday?

CuttedUpPear · 17/10/2013 13:33

Ah. Spooky! Halloween Shock

ppeatfruit · 17/10/2013 13:39

It's fun isn't it Psuedo? hope all is going swimmingly with your L.O. funny about your mum and her name; all the best people are TA fans aren't we? Halloween Grin

I reckon you're right Errol Of course I may be wrong.

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 17/10/2013 14:14

Halloween Grin And there's me thinking my writing style is so unutterably individual.... (Yes I was something else before.. Clever ED. (Though I was rather fond of GtheN...))

Pseudo I had assumed that your daughter's astonishingly beautiful name was a sideways reference to TA anyway.

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 18/10/2013 16:06
Shallishanti · 18/10/2013 16:10

yes, I think so. But how insensitive is Shula? '...oh, yes, your daughter, now, HAVE you got those tools yet? '

ErrolTheDragon · 18/10/2013 16:13

Nice to be back to a useful Public Service Broadcast to remind idiots to keep their dogs under close control around stock - not just at lambing time. I can forgive TA a lot for that.

PseudoBadger · 18/10/2013 16:13

Sorry to leave you hanging Sthing!
Yes Darrell gave the gp a swerve I think.
Poor old Ed and the cows eh :(

Caoimhe isn't a TA ref, but Lily might be Wink

OP posts:
Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 18/10/2013 16:18

Yes... I didn't think last night worked. Partly because they made not-exactly-Mastermind Darrell sound like a master of misdirection and also because the whole lost dog, fleeing sheep story was naturally leading to Neil and Darrell in the car.... And then nothing happened.

I'm beginning to think that whoever said Darrell might not be long for this world might have a point. Poor man is clearly losing quite large chunks of his mind and is now a danger to himself.

CuttedUpPear · 18/10/2013 16:19

Yes what exactly is Darryl's problem? He doesn't seem to fit the usual medical profile of the down and out (substance abuse).

And I'm glad he got his tools back but can't believe the SWs took us down the shaky path of thinking that they were bound to be gone.

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 18/10/2013 16:24

Oh X-ed! Was answering Shalli whose name I have only just grasped....

Erroll Since I at least knew where to find you (lurking in awe) I had been thinking of staging an intervention to drag you back. But as a strategy it just didn't add up.

D'ya see what I....? Halloween Grin

ppeatfruit · 18/10/2013 17:32

I was inclined to think that Das hadn't been to the docs but he'd lost that strange slight hysteria in his voice (OMG cutted just thought maybe he IS a druggy and just had a fix from his 'friend' with his tools). I'm not and never have been in that scene so was being thick. also may be wrong of course Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 18/10/2013 17:37

D'ya see what I..

possibly

GypsyFloss · 20/10/2013 10:54

I've just listened to the omnibus and heard the dumping scene for the first time. Rob's pause when listing who he " had to do the right thing" for makes me even more sure that Jess is pregnant. I reckon he was going to say " for our baby" but stopped himself just in time. Now we definitely need to meet her Grin

TallGiraffe · 20/10/2013 11:38

It'll irritate me if Hellin is up the duff though. She's an intelligent woman, surely she would have been bright enough to think about contraception. Surely I can't have been alone in the "no contraception = no sex" way of thinking, apart from when actively trying for a baby Confused

mummytime · 20/10/2013 11:49

TallGiraffe Hellin doesn't seem to be very rational. Lots of my friends children have been born despite the use of every method of contraception known to man.

GypsyFloss · 20/10/2013 13:20

Helen and rational are not words I'd ever use in a sentence . I reckon a sibling for Henry and thus a way of securing Rob were probably in the back of her mind.

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2013 16:32

As I said upthread Hellin is a soap character and most of them miss the contraceptive talk at school so either have an abortion or a babeee. knocking King Henry's crown off Grin

Brillig · 20/10/2013 23:25

And if she is pregnant with Baby Cheesus II, presumably we can look forward (?) to a reprise of the barkingly mad behaviour she exhibited when carrying Henry.

We already know of course that she's 'doggedly independent' and determined to go it alone. Despite having a home and job provided by her parents, who also seem to offer free child care whenever required, cook nourishing meals for her, and generally cosset her so she doesn't have to suffer too much contact with the big, bad world outside Ambridge.

I don't think I can stand another Hellin pregnancy tbh

JollyGolightly · 21/10/2013 00:00

I've heard The Dumping three times now, which I realise says more about my life than the event itself, although I did feel that it was well written, and agree that Rob is trying to become a better person before the baby arrives. He's not doing very well with that; very wrong of him to hunt Hellin down to her Organics burrow.
