New thread for the beginning of the pheasant season.

I always like to think I remember the beginning of Neil and Susan - but then it merges into the beginning of Eddie and Clarrie... I do recall a very beautiful speech Neil made when Susan, post prison, cried that she was dragging him down. His declaration that without her pushiness ambition and belief in him he would have spent his life doing not very much and never striving for more is one of the things I lean on when they try to make Ambridge rubbish exciting.

(nb My first name change. Somewhat trepidatious. Handholding etc very welcome.Halloween Wink)

TheSilverySoothsayer · 15/10/2013 10:02

Neil had a serious crush on Shula - not reciprocated though.

I think I can remember Neil and Susan DTD for the first time Grin

guineapiglet · 15/10/2013 18:01

Aaaw Neil and Susan....it made lovely listening!

I am not enjoying Debbie's hard ass change of personality...since going to Hungary she has become really hard core unpleasant especially re the mega dairy... She used to be reliably reasonable and kind, now seems very self focussed. This is the first time she has been in it for ages so plots must be getting desperate!

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 15/10/2013 18:12

I'm sure they'd love to have her in it more often but Tamsin Greig is such a global mega-star now we should just feel grateful that she even finds the time.

Unusually for me I don't think Debbie is a victim of random character change. She had such a crap time in her personal life in Ambridge it's not surprising that she's now busy devouring apprentices? / engineers? for breakfast in Hungary.

Panzee · 15/10/2013 18:47

I was impressed Debbie managed to be in it properly. They usually have her on the phone!

MrsCampbellBlack · 16/10/2013 19:13

Oh dear - Rob's going to dump Helen isn't he?

Shallishanti · 16/10/2013 19:14

hah!
what a surprise (not)

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 16/10/2013 19:15

Oh Helen..... Haloween Sad

ErrolTheDragon · 16/10/2013 19:20

Helen true to form entirely self-centred about it.

I do hope that following their deathbed rapprochement Jess now decides to come to Ambridge.

LondonMother · 16/10/2013 20:01

I suppose it's too much to hope that Helen will now run amok with a giant cheese which she will roll down Lakey Hill and knock Rob, Jess and assorted villagers (ideally including Darrell) into the Am?

I foresee another bout of eating problems.

Swannykazoo · 16/10/2013 20:07

I'm ashamed to say I had a little cheer when Rob split up with Hellqueen. I agree Errol and London there will be much trouble from Helen - stalking hopefully and then a relapse too.

GypsyFloss · 16/10/2013 20:15

Oh damn I missed it! Wonder if she managed make Messiah#2 first though? Strong , fiercely independent woman that she is, I'm sure she can manage another golden child.

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 16/10/2013 20:16

Oh I've got it! This is the SWs' cunning plan to bring down the mega-d. Everyone's been saying how brilliant Rob is at his job. But he's going to be mighty distracted if he keeps having to dodge Helen and her cheese cleaver.

So much is going to go wrong.Halloween Grin

Gigondas · 16/10/2013 20:18

There is precedent for fallout from affairs - ruaridh, usha /Shula etc . (How widely known was Caroline's affair with brine?)

And there will definitely be follow up here - most obviously hell queen expecting when Jess doesn't want kids.

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 16/10/2013 20:18

But yes - Henry II would be fun.

LondonMother · 16/10/2013 20:21

In real life, if you were running a fairly large business and discovered that a key employee had been having an illicit affair with your niece by marriage who had bunny boiler tendencies and whose parents already regard you and key employee as Satan's henchmen, it would be a very tricky situation. It would be nice if this development led to renewed hostilities between Bridge Farm and Home Farm. Will Peggy threaten to horsewhip Rob, as she did Brian when she learned about his affair with Siobhan?

choccyp1g · 16/10/2013 20:29

Surely Jess is going to be pregnant too?
I heard "FILs Death Brought Us Closer Together"
as euphemism for
"Comforting Hug Led To Unprotected Sex"

Panzee · 16/10/2013 20:42

Me too choccypig! I foresee babies...

GypsyFloss · 16/10/2013 20:42

Let's hope Jess is pregnant and moves to Ambridge and becomes the new BFF of Helen...also pregnant.

Swannykazoo · 16/10/2013 21:06

Yippee yippee yippee for the pregnancy(ies) and mega-dairy feuds. I might really start to enjoy it again! Hope the SWs are reading..

PrincessFiorimonde · 16/10/2013 23:07

A double pregnancy would certainly be fun. Even Brian didn't manage that.

CuttedUpPear · 16/10/2013 23:30

Oh yes GypsyFloss Halloween Grin

JessieMcJessie · 17/10/2013 03:45

Hmm. A pregnancy storyline would be way too soapy IMO. So is probably on the cards..

yes yes re the implications for Home Farm/ Bridge Farm relations, and the management of the mega dairy.

Presumably Kirsty will have to bear the brunt of Helen's wailing. Interesting, given her recent welcome back into the bosom of the Archer family. Will she tell Tom? Actually, I 'd have thought Tom would be fairly non-judgmental- he was seduced a bit by Rob himself, he has been a cheater (on Kirsty with supermarket woman) and he has form for covering up Helen's misdeeds- "I was driving".

What Kirsty should say is that she feels for Helen but Helen always knew it was a risk that Rob would go back to Jess. She should also remind Helen that she deserves better than a cheater. (I know se of you disagree!). On tenterhooks to find out what Kirsty actually says..

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 17/10/2013 07:38

Perhaps it would cause a huge rift between her and Tom if they took opposing sides over Helen's idiocy?

Might the pregnant ladies be making their happy announcements around New Year?

Wasn't there a film - 80s/90s - one man, two girlfriends in labour in same hospital? Tasteless but mildly amusing.

GypsyFloss · 17/10/2013 07:46

I just hope the script writers don't brush it all under the carpet , as they have form for doing.
