New thread!

OP posts:

See I'm trying to guess if there is a connection between Rob Cringeworthy and the pension pot Monet that Pat and Tony are obviously going to lose.

PseudoBadger · 12/08/2013 20:03

A Monet could be a wise investment I suppose...

wickeddevil · 12/08/2013 20:31

Doh!
Flipping predictive text.
Then again perhaps Brenda and Matt could smuggle in some Russian art.

WhatSheSaid · 12/08/2013 21:14

I think Tony and Pat might invest in Amside and lose money there - Fagash is struggling to pay the suppliers and Matt has just lost his offshore money.

Panzee · 12/08/2013 21:19

Don't they owe Lil money anyway? Surely they should pay it back.

ppeatfruit · 13/08/2013 10:06

I'd forgotten that Panzee well remembered Grin OOer if Anthea's firm takes over Amside it could help I suppose. (unless there's nothing to take over except debts.)

campion · 13/08/2013 14:57

Is Rob about 75? He suddenly sounds it.I thought lurve was meant to put a spring in your step (Helen and her 'glowing' an all).

God, she's a minx and no mistake.Run back to Hampshire Rob!

PS...what happened to Rich , the conveniently invented grandson? Did Pat and Tony get him out of their system after all that kerfuffle?

Kiriwawa · 13/08/2013 14:58

I sincerely hope that when Pat finds out Hellin's tried to get her to rearrange her (very few) evening plans so that H can go and shag Rob, she kicks her out on her ear.

Hateful selfish thing. I suppose at least she's acting true to character which is more than I can say for a lot of the characters of late.

And we're going to have more snogging shortly courtesy of the sausage king and Kirstie :(

Somethingyesterday · 13/08/2013 15:11

The Tom and Kirsty business is unforgiveable. He wasted years of her life, iirc nearly got her sent to prison, ruined her nails with grill scrubbing, caused her to spend money on a potential proposal outfit, ran off with the first be-suited non Archer female he met and generally humiliated her. And now the SWs are trying to pretend it's all forgiven.

Why, why, why? It's not a good story. It doesn't make sense. It's dull. It's lazy. I almost give up.

Kiriwawa · 13/08/2013 15:19

I honestly feel that the current crop of SWs are just reading the scripts of the previous 6 eps before writing a new one. They don't seem to have any idea of what's happened in the past. Having listened for nearly 30 years, I'm starting to get seriously fed up by the lack of continuity

TallGiraffe · 13/08/2013 15:55

I'm behind on my podcasts but having just listened to Friday's episode I had to come on here as I knew you'd all agree! "I want to smell your skin" Envy He works with cows, it will smell of cow muck. Bleurgh.

CuttedUpPear · 13/08/2013 20:23

Something how did Tom nearly get Kirsty sent to prison? I was listening round that time but can't remember (toddlers probably talked over that ep)

Somethingyesterday · 13/08/2013 20:44

The GM crops? They were both involved in the crop destruction and both prosecuted. Unless I've invented it all in my head.....

Selks · 13/08/2013 22:36

What's the back-story with Tom and Kirsty then?

Somethingyesterday · 13/08/2013 23:10

I can tell you what I (think I) remember - but it's all so long ago... Someone else will have to supply dates.

They were an item for several years. (I'm sure 5 years was mentioned but...) Possibly before John (Tom's elder brother) died, but certainly after. Tom took over John's pig business and buried his grief in crazy ambition. Kirsty was extremely supportive; half her life in the burger van and half at the kitchen table with Pat. She was very much a member of the family and the assumed Mrs Tom.

You may remember when GM crops became an issue in the country. This was reflected in Ambridge when a neighbouring farm started trialling GM. Tom was incensed, lots of protest, arrest, trial. Not guilty.

He got a deal with a big supermarket. Meetings with the buyer (?) Woman in a suit. Who strung him along for business purposes. Fling. Eventually, guiltily arranged to take K out to very posh restaurant to talk. She was all excited, certain a diamond would be involved. He dumped her at the table. It was awful.

So this current story is .... poo frankly.

Feel free to correct all my inevitable inaccuracies.

CuttedUpPear · 14/08/2013 00:43

Oh yes I remember now!
Tom and Kirsty were out there wrecking GM crops weren't they?
Can't remember who was growing them though...Brine?

Anyway, yes. Tom had his tongue hanging out so far in awe of the supermarket buyer that he just dumped Kirsty in order to clear the way for his undoubtedly meteoric career.

Twat.

WhatSheSaid · 14/08/2013 01:39

Fgs, Lillian, Mike is under no obligation whatsoever to tell you where Brenda is or what she's doing. She handed her notice in! She doesn't work for you anymore!

ppeatfruit · 14/08/2013 09:06

WRF Kirstie praps she's just letting bygones be bygones she did mention to Tom there's someone else though.(Maybe she hasn't forgotten and will dump Tom like he did her Grin)

Brillig · 14/08/2013 09:22

It's really dire at the moment. My only hope is that Hellin will revert to her true loony self again - which seems to be on the cards. Whenever she starts trilling 'it's OK, I know what I'm doing!' with that awful patronising little laugh, it usually means she's on the brink of a spectacular descent into obsessive weirdness.

She's been far too quiet and normal to be believable recently.

snice · 14/08/2013 09:31

I am longing for Jess to appear in ambridge so that hellin can go all Glenn close and boil a bunny!

Somethingyesterday · 14/08/2013 09:34

ppea I did wonder if the plan was for her to lead him on and then drop him from a great height - but that doesn't seem to be how they're writing it. She's all giggly and girlish. And has never seemed truly interested in anyone else ('cept Sam...)

And even "let bygones etc" would require a particular tone of voice. They're just doing it wrong.

ppeatfruit · 14/08/2013 10:05

OR Kirstie has always loved him and has forgiven him (there are people like that in RL you know something strange as it seems) Hmm I'm always defending the S.W.s aren't I? Grin

Somethingyesterday · 14/08/2013 10:24

I completely refuse to believe that anyone could forgive Tom for how he behaved. Smile

Ponders · 14/08/2013 10:49

I thought Kirsty was with Patrick (?) the wildlife bloke?

PrincessFiorimonde · 14/08/2013 11:44

Patrick and Kirsty are just friends, surely?

BUT when Tom asked Kirsty if she wanted to go for a curry, she answered, 'I'm not working. And Damian's out with mates that night.'

Who on earth is Damian?
