New thread!

I thought Tony was incredibly rude to Rob!

yes - I enjoyed that.Grin

cryhavoc · 02/08/2013 14:34

Now Tony has been relieved of his milking duties he's going to roam the village, moaning and being rude to people.

I LOVE how troubled Pat and Moan are by both of their horrible children becoming friendly with Rob. I really hope there's a baby.

choccyp1g · 02/08/2013 14:35

Didn't Kathy run the health club at Grey Gables many years ago? Or was it the "Orangery" at Lower Loxley ?

Selks · 02/08/2013 14:40

I have so much catching up to do with recent goings on but thought I'd pitch in on here anyway!

Poor Lonely Cow. Moooo

StayAwayFromTheEdge · 02/08/2013 15:06

It was the orangery - Can't remember why she left though.

Someone needs to tell Nic that it is often low calcium that causes cramp in pregnancy and to drink some bloody milk - My cramp was never taken this seriously Envy

StayAwayFromTheEdge · 02/08/2013 15:11

And would Rob really notice a stool and would The Pigman really know the reason why.

Where are the writers going with this? I have an image of Emmur delivering a mini-Will at the top of Lakey Hill!

HerbertGistcool · 03/08/2013 08:41

I think Cathy left after the rape trial as she felt it was time to move on athough she felt a bit guilty about it as Elizabeth had been very supportive.

JessieMcJessie · 03/08/2013 12:32

Rob noticing the stool is in the running for the clunkiest line of the year so far. "What's that?" "It's a plot device". "Ah, thanks Tom. Bet you wouldn't be quite so happy to discuss ready meals and staff seating requirements if you knew I'd shagged your sister".

OTOH, the dialogue between Helen and Rob in the bank was excellent, so realistically cringeworthy. "Have a good one!" You could just imagine the face palm as soon as he was out of sight.

HomelessAngua · 04/08/2013 10:39

I thought Kathy worked at GG aw well?

Signing up for thread!

Lomaamina · 04/08/2013 12:24

Joining thread, pulling up bar stool.

I agree with comments about the clunky plot device, but TA is full of them.

Is anyone else seeing the incredible Linda being lined up to take over as manager of GG? At least they didn't parachute her in at Friday's end of episode. I was convinced it was going to happen then, but it would have been too rapid a development (not that such a problem has stopped the SWs before).

As for Cathy with her endless non-work calls at work. The tedious nit-picking person whose identity is a mystery to me seems perfectly justified in commenting on her not dedicating enough time to her work, but his manner is so unbelievably heavy-handed (obviously written by a SW whose never worked in a modern-day work setting) that you find yourself out of sympathy with both characters simultaneously.

Somethingyesterday · 04/08/2013 18:28

I also have a vague memory of Cathy working in the then "health club" at Grey Gables. And then applying for the job at Lower Loxley. (Is there nowhere else from where Elizabeth can poach staff?)

Ages ago I teased a PP for saying there were no realistic work scenes in TA. I'm now ready to concede the point. The Cathy and Martin (?) dialogues are ludicrous. If he is in such a position of authority over her as to be able to make blatantly disparaging comments about her ability then she is not in a position to backchat and dismiss his comments. If he is not in such a position of authority she should be throwing him out.....

Selks · 04/08/2013 19:11

Not heard TA all week...looking forward to tucking myself up in bed with the omnibus tonight (I lead such an exciting life!! Grin)

R4 · 04/08/2013 21:50

The business at the Golf Club seems to have been precipitated by the departure of the General Manager. Will they be looking for someone to replace? - someone with a marketing degree who is currently unemployed ...

(Having said that, Anthea seems to be making a better fist of organising Lillian Amside than Brenda ever did. Is she up to the GM role?)

Selks · 04/08/2013 22:08

Aaargh Martin at the golf course....if he was my boss talking to me like that he would get a golf ball shoved down his throat! Why doesn't Cathy stand up for herself? She's such a drip! No wonder Jamie rebelled.

Selks · 04/08/2013 22:10

Anthea's awesome in her awfulness! Lillian couldn't have got more just desserts after her awful treatment of Brenda, he he.

Lomaamina · 05/08/2013 09:06

Yes and even Anthea is a caricature of the efficient secretary. Some one out of a 1960s film, ready to take dictation in a demure twinset and pearls, walking out with a mr Charles from the local department store! I mean, do temps really have such an investment in improving systems in a temporary job?

Gigondas · 05/08/2013 09:13

Doubt it loma- she is quite amusing in how dire she is. In rl anyone with any sense would have rung the agency to get shot of her on day 1. It's all part of the rewrite of Lilian that she has been turned into a pushover.

Tommy · 05/08/2013 10:30

I think the temp agency was a "better class" one that your usual run of the mill - hence Anthea being left in the 1960s. Can't believe Lil is putting up with it - she's far too feisty to be bossed about by staff.....

Selks · 05/08/2013 10:44

Lilian is scared of Anthea I think!

OldBeanbagz · 05/08/2013 13:44

Long term listener here and bored of both the Kathy/Golf Club and Anthea/Amside Properties storylines.

Do you think the SW are setting something up for Nic's pregnancy?

Can't wait for Pat & Tony to find out about Rob sticking more than his nose in!

Somethingyesterday · 05/08/2013 14:54
Grin

Rob is already a little ambivalent about Brian. Perhaps the long term plan is for him to jump ship and embrace small scale organic farming?

OliviaIsOffTheGinMumsnet · 05/08/2013 16:36

two things
1 I can't believe Kathy used to be a TEACHER - surely the kids would run rings around her - she hasn't got an ounce of spine
2 Helen asking KAthy about Rob buying tickets for the film nite in the shop "I thought he spent the w/ends in Hampshire with his FAMILY"
Has he got KIDS then?

Paints Helen in Home Wrecker garb.

Somethingyesterday · 05/08/2013 16:47

Hmm.... Wasn't he extolling the virtue of family life, regretfully, last week? I interpreted that as Jess not wanting children right now. (As opposed to Helen bravely going forth alone....)

So the "family" would be his in laws?

I was about to say "and surely he would have mentioned his children by now...." But this is TA. The SWs like to tease us. Hmm

Somethingyesterday · 05/08/2013 18:32

.....And the incoming Editor used to work on Hollyoaks and EastEnders. So we can expect TA to be more "teen" and more miserable from now on.
