New thread!

OP posts:
Ponders · 13/09/2013 18:56

(will not be able to take him at all seriously now)

nennypops · 13/09/2013 20:26

I wish the SWs would send Kathy off to see Usha the polymath lawyer. I'm no expert, but I'm sure making it clear that she can't be trusted to recruit staff and demanding that she cancel her holiday must be grounds for a fat claim for constructive dismissal.

PigletJohn · 13/09/2013 20:43

just what I was thinking.

Get free of Martyn, apply for the grey gables job, have a wedge of cash, and show Martyn up for the arse he is.

What could be better?

choccyp1g · 13/09/2013 20:53

If it had been Pip aged 16 snogging some random boy in Rickyard Cottage, would David have laughed and suggested an early night ?

I think not.

Ponders · 13/09/2013 21:13

well, quite, choccy

"they were really going for it"

the hypocrisy! Shock

OliviaMMumsnet · 13/09/2013 21:47

which job is going at grey gables?!?

Saw something on facebook earlier that reminded me that people starting freshers week now were born in 1995

Ponders · 13/09/2013 21:57

Roy's job?

Caroline has been doing it (supposedly) since he left for LL

god knows why he wasn't just replaced at the time (I'm sure there was a rubbish spurious TA reason Hmm)

TallGiraffe · 13/09/2013 21:59

Ponders did you see this a bit further down the blog...

"The latest series of The Archers’ sister series Ambridge Extra has just finished. But you have one last chance to hear it. BBC Radio 4 Extra is playing all 20 episodes this Monday night (9 September) from 1am to 6am."

I'd love to see those listening figures!

Ponders · 13/09/2013 22:01

I didn't, TG

1am-6am on a Sunday night??? wow. Must have been in the - er - tens Grin

OliviaMMumsnet · 13/09/2013 22:07

aha
Hence Caroline being so shattered
And needing a holiday
And needing Ray the Red coat to be interim manager
But isn't Ray married to someone from Caroline's Hunt?
When they had supper with melon and all sorts I am sure that was the sprious link.
Wouldn't she have vetted him???

Is it very sad that I do LOVE the idea of an AmbEx Marathon?
Bit like 24 with no chance to have a pee Grin
Maybe not at that time in the morning

PigletJohn · 13/09/2013 22:11

Grey Gables' health club manager has recently handed in her notice aftere some spell of poor health. I have an idea she is married to the golf club chef.

Also an additional non-junior person is needed on the staff. Linda plus one could lift a lot of Caroline's weary shoulders.

radios are portable, you knowGrin

PrincessFiorimonde · 13/09/2013 22:28

Which job is going at Grey Gables? I think it's the job of manager of the health club (which, coincidentally, was Kathy's job some years ago)

Saw something on facebook earlier that reminded me that people starting freshers week now were born in 1995 Not as old as those of us who started to listen to TA around the time when Noah felt a drop of rain ...

kiriwawa · 13/09/2013 23:20

It's not remotely convincing that someone with the personality of a wet weekend in Cleethorpes could manage a whole team of people in hospitality. The staff would run rings around her if she was really this pathetic.

And she's coming across as really thick too - horrible writing.

As for Dehvid and the snogging - FFS Angry

ppeatfruit · 14/09/2013 07:49

Weird or what 16 year olds having a party when their parents are likely to 'pop' their heads round the door let alone see them snogging Shock So what? boy or girl you can get married at 16, it's more like the 5os in Ambridge!

Somethingyesterday · 14/09/2013 09:06

To be fair, at least one of the staff was running rings around her.... But I wish they'd wrapped it up last night.

At least Lynda and Ian have opened their eyes - finally. Perhaps it's the 1950s writing that prevented them from googling the "hotel reviewer" five seconds after she arrived.

So now it looks as if Kathy will return to her old job and Lynda will get her heart's desire.

LondonMother · 14/09/2013 10:10

When Oliver and Caroline get back, will Lynda and Ian reveal all? I think they have to as otherwise they could get landed with Ray again the next time Oliver feels like a holiday.

ppeatfruit · 14/09/2013 10:19

Of course they'll have to london it'll be noticeable that GG is now Las vegas land and will probably lead to the sacking of Linda and Ian and the end of Caroline and Oliver's marriage Shock OMG another upset Ambridge moment!!

ppeatfruit · 14/09/2013 10:21

You know I meant another SATTC moment!! She says dramatically!!

LondonMother · 14/09/2013 11:36

It'll be a damp squib, though. I just know it. Sad

nennypops · 14/09/2013 12:10

Oliver and Caroline can't help but find out about Ray, they only have to look at the books - the bar must be making a thumping loss on all his complimentary drinks, the Mexican night will be another thumping loss, and the mysterious travel journo will do a moonlight flit leaving a massive unpaid bill.

nennypops · 14/09/2013 12:18

Another thought: how come Darren can't get a job when there's a megabusiness just opened up and rapidly expanding? Surely he could at least have got a cleaning job at Big Farma.

ppeatfruit · 14/09/2013 12:33

Yes nennypops The darrell storyline is completely unrealistic. In the village where we live good artisans are waited for for a year; it's word of mouth and they NEVER go without work. On what planet is Ambridge on FFS???

Selks · 14/09/2013 18:04

Yes and if the good folk of Ambridge are really that bothered about Darrell why doesn't one of them offer him their spare room FFS.

guineapiglet · 14/09/2013 19:54

Yes Selks that has been pissing me off as well -lots of good Christian folk in Ambridge inc Neil, Shula and esp the Vicar FFS but no-one seems able to actually do anything practical and offer the poor lad a permanent home for a while. I nearly turned off when Shula offered him some Shepherd's pie before he 'went on his way'... this is a recurrent story in TA though, anyone remember the drug addict who lived with the Vicar for a short while some years ago, another story built up which led to nothing in the end. It would be nice to see some actually hard core charity (!?) in actionfor once, insted of faffing about the Fruit and Produce show etc. I mean they all know who Darrell is FFS, hes not a complete stranger darkening their doorsteps.
