I feel like everything is tense and artificial and building up to something terrible happening. What is going to happen? I don't listen to The Archers for the drama, I listen to it for the feelgopod factor, although I know there are always frictions and crises to cope with, but notheing too shocking.......... well there was the time when Ed was a crack head Xmas Hmm but that all got sorted out in the end and it was ptrobably for the best that he ran away to the big city and lost his way for a while etc etc....

I hope Helen's baby doesn't die. I don't actually care about Helen, but it would be just too awful.

As for who he was - he was Walter Gabriel's son, & Shula used to called Walter ("me old pal, me old beauty") Uncle Walter. (I think. Unless I'm getting confused with Uncle Tom Forrest)

goldenbirdies · 02/01/2011 00:03

Ed and Emma live at Brookfield in the holiday cottage - the 'guilty' secret could be that Ed is found in hiding there after killing Will...

Lilymaid · 02/01/2011 13:02

Harry is the love child of Brine and Caroline?
Return of Nelson (who'd be about 80 now) - wasn't he supposed to have died in Argentina ... ?
Arrival of a love child of Kenton's - he was in the merchant navy so should have managed to sire more than his daughter in NZ?
Arrival of Adam's father ... he was never named - would be rather a shock to JD.
If Will shoots Ed, I reckon it would be by mistake rather than deliberate - he might be out checking the birds and think Ed, out for some innocent reason, was a poacher.

goldenbirdies · 02/01/2011 16:23

Oh 'eck. I've had a look at the synopseses, synopsises, episode descriptions for next week and I'm finally starting to wobble a bit on my Will and Ed theory dammit. There's something in there about Joe Grundy trying a money-making opportunity which would hardly happen if there had been a will/ed tragedy. Maybe people are right about Lower Loxley - just seems a bit crass to build it up so suddenly.
It's definitely not the death of Tony anyway.

Ponders · 02/01/2011 16:33

"It's definitely not the death of Tony anyway" - funny, gb, I also inferred that, what a coincidence....Wink

goldenbirdies · 02/01/2011 17:40

Hey Ponders - whose do you think is the 'new friend' that Ian is going to make? Harry maybe?

Ponders · 02/01/2011 17:51

I'm afraid that's exactly what I thought, gb GrinBlush

Could be Helen's baby though...

traceybath · 02/01/2011 17:53

I still think Pip is going to knock Helen over and that will be the secret as she hasn't passed her test yet.

Only an hour to go - better go and get children ready for bed extra early.

goldenbirdies · 02/01/2011 17:54

Hmm..instant family with Adam?

Ponders · 02/01/2011 18:20

that could work...

Helen (the actress I mean) has been sounding terribly cheerful in her interviews, for someone about to be sacked; but otoh she is pg herself, isn't she - maybe she was bowing out anyway - that would add up very neatly Smile

traceybath · 02/01/2011 18:24

I think the baby dies Sad and Helen will end up being sectioned for a while.

Ponders · 02/01/2011 18:36

'The British family is evolving. Single-parent families and same-sex families are a fact of life.'

Same-sex families...aha!

Ponders · 02/01/2011 18:42

Helen will go into prem labour (prob following fire-or-something shock at Lower Loxley), baby will be born, she will die, poor old Tony will be racked with guilt for rest of life, Ian & Adam will adopt little Helena.

I have decided!

traceybath · 02/01/2011 18:45

Surely Tony and Pat won't have to endure the deaths of 2 children?

I feel I may cry.

Right off to pour wine and hide in the kitchen with the radio.

Ponders · 02/01/2011 18:48

oh tracey, it's only a silly guess, I hope you're right (but I don't want them to lose their grandchild either!!!)

changeforthebetter · 02/01/2011 18:51

Have to put kids to bed now. Have set telly to record as can't possibly wait for the podcast. Have been embarrassingly excited about this Blush

Ponders · 02/01/2011 18:52

My kids are grown-up - I have DS2 cooking our supper so I am free to listen (have wine too)

Not sure I can stand the tension...!

WhatSheSaid · 02/01/2011 18:57

I am listening through the R4 website, from New Zealand! It is 8am and dd1 is in another room glued to kids TV. DD2 is lying under the baby gym and occasionally gurgling.

Ponders · 02/01/2011 18:59

oh thank heavens for t'interweb, WSS Grin

Hope your DDs stay quiet for 30 mins!

Northernlebkuchen · 02/01/2011 19:02

Am braced!

Spunds bad for Lower Loxley.....

WhatSheSaid · 02/01/2011 19:03

Got to be Nigel or Lizzie. Unless all the lovey dovey build up has been a red herring

Northernlebkuchen · 02/01/2011 19:04

Aaaaaargh - the roof!

Ponders · 02/01/2011 19:04

smugmumofboys · 02/01/2011 19:05
