I am not enjoying The Archers right now!

I feel like everything is tense and artificial and building up to something terrible happening. What is going to happen? I don't listen to The Archers for the drama, I listen to it for the feelgopod factor, although I know there are always frictions and crises to cope with, but notheing too shocking.......... well there was the time when Ed was a crack head Xmas Hmm but that all got sorted out in the end and it was ptrobably for the best that he ran away to the big city and lost his way for a while etc etc....

I hope Helen's baby doesn't die. I don't actually care about Helen, but it would be just too awful.

I think there is the potential for a big damp squib of course......

GrimmaTheNome · 30/12/2010 15:34

What else could shake a village?

How about Alan becoming a Hindu?

I think it's going to be Nigel. There have been so many scenes recentlt which were just about them being a happy family and Nigel being a nice bloke.

I just wish the producers will resist the temptation. They really don't have to do something awful just because that's the typical thing in TV soaps.

Please, What is SATTC?

GrimmaTheNome · 30/12/2010 16:32

It should be SATIC - Shakes Ambridge To Its Core.

franke · 30/12/2010 16:42

Well I've just read all the teasers in the Radio Times and I think I can glean what doesn't happen iyswim. And I can get a vague idea of who is affected ifyswim. Not much help is it...

Northernlebkuchen · 30/12/2010 16:46

No help frank - VW is far too clever for that. The RT spoilers are notorious for being no help whatsoever!

BUT nobody in the spoilers was ever in the frame for being dead. Nobody ever thought Shula was in for the chop did they? All the people who could be involved - Ruth, David, Nigel, Helen, Will, Nic, Ed, Emma, Pip, Jamie, Lizzie - are all absent.

franke · 30/12/2010 16:53

Well, exactly, I meant it in the vaguest of terms Grin. But Ed, Will, Emmur aren't in the cast list for next week either.

I'm learning to loath VW.

franke · 30/12/2010 16:54

loathe

franke · 30/12/2010 16:57

I live in hope with regard to Shula...

Northernlebkuchen · 30/12/2010 16:57

VW is a pain in the neck - insufferably smug about pretty much everything!

Northernlebkuchen · 30/12/2010 16:58

Same applies to Shula of course

Clumsymum · 30/12/2010 17:02

Hmm - a distant cousin of mine was on the Archers production team for a few years (used to get credited at the end of the programme !!). She's now moved on to Emmerdale ... I wonder if she didn't get on with VW either Grin

Northernlebkuchen · 30/12/2010 20:59

Hearing Lizzie getting all excited at the pantomime - sounded more and more like something nasty is coming their way.

lalalonglegs · 30/12/2010 21:47

It never fails me how excited characters in the Archers can get about anything: the panto, inter-village cricket matches, people (very occasionally) having sex with one another, putting raspberry yogurt labels on the strawberry yogurts Hmm.

MinkyBorage · 30/12/2010 23:14

Nigel meets a sticky end collecting Lizzie's brooch. Pip runs him over whilst driving HELEN IN TO HOSPITAL in an emergency.

OP posts:
MinkyBorage · 30/12/2010 23:15

Lizzie is going to feel sooooooo bad when she rea;ises that she got so cross with him because he was taking the brooch in.

Is it definitely Sunday then? I can't stand much more of these clunking episodes

Ponders · 30/12/2010 23:38

Yes, it's Sunday. 30 clunking minutes. I think I might miss it & find out what happened after...

ShoshanaBlue · 31/12/2010 01:04

Sorry, haven't listened to the Archers for a long time. Just wondered if Jack Woolley was still alive? The last I'd heard he'd gone into a home (must be The Laurels, they all end up there).

Heard bits of it tonight and it was definitely all about a brooch. I think I've obviously missed the death of Joan (aka Julia) - not sure what happened to the twin sister (did she live in Spain?)

This Vicky character who is new wife of Mike Tugger....how did that happen??? I can't think of anyone less like dear old Beddy Tugger. Surely she can't be cold in her grave yet?!?

Can someone fill in some of the gaps for me?

Thanks

Fibilou · 31/12/2010 13:01

lebkuchen, if only Shula were in for the chop Wink
