I feel like everything is tense and artificial and building up to something terrible happening. What is going to happen? I don't listen to The Archers for the drama, I listen to it for the feelgopod factor, although I know there are always frictions and crises to cope with, but notheing too shocking.......... well there was the time when Ed was a crack head Xmas Hmm but that all got sorted out in the end and it was ptrobably for the best that he ran away to the big city and lost his way for a while etc etc....

I hope Helen's baby doesn't die. I don't actually care about Helen, but it would be just too awful.

well 2 big buildy-uppy-possibles after tonight...

either 1) something dire happens to Nigel and/or Lizzie (or Freddie sets fire to LL, that has crossed my mind before, might lead to both)

or 2) Tony collapses with some kind of medical emergency (they're all going to LL too aren't they?) & Helen is shocked into desperate panicky remorse which triggers labour

For the "total shock" event, Will Grundy running amok wouldn't be one, they've been hinting at that for months...

(oh, but, Harry running amok would be)

shall I listen on Sunday...?

eeny, meeny, miney, mo Confused

Lilymaid · 31/12/2010 20:19

"Tony collapses with some kind of medical emergency (they're all going to LL too aren't they?) & Helen is shocked into desperate panicky remorse which triggers labour"

and out will pop baby Tony to moan for the next 60 years of the Archers.

PrincessFiorimonde · 01/01/2011 13:52

To 'shock Ambridge to its core' must mean more than just Joe Grundy dying peacefully, I think?

I like the ideas of Lower Loxley burning down (with thanks to Turps for the description of Nigel as 'that notorious halfwit'), and/or Will running amok with a shotgun.

Or maybe Jack is tortured to death at The Laurels? (Thus putting off future generations from consigning their elderly relatives there.)

But I particularly like the idea on another thread that the Grundys win the Lottery and buy Brookfield and/or Home Farm.

Go Grundys, go!

Oh dear, perhaps Ruaridh gets swine flu and dies. Leaving Brain both racked with guilt and with no idea about which of his daughters he should leave his farm to.

Ponders · 01/01/2011 16:19

Brian lives at Home Farm, Pixie Grin

what are you getting at here? Wink

ohhhh I see - I hadn't seen those summaries!

Brian's most recent plan that I can think of is the new auction site thing; I suppose that might be going to be scuppered by Matt Lilian

a secret at Brookfield could be anything (& not necessarily exciting either - how about "Ruth's pizzas were home-made all the time we thought they were from the supermarket" Shock)

goldenbirdies · 01/01/2011 17:23

Yeah, the Archers is always teasing people with summaries about 'secrets' and suprises' which turn out to be duds. My money is still firmly on Will/Ed for the SATIC - plenty of repercussions for almost the whole village if one accidently kills the other in a fight.

Ponders · 01/01/2011 17:26

oo-er, had forgotten about Will being the estate gamekeeper though - if he is either dead, or banged up for deading Ed, Brian will have to find a new keeper...hmm...

CognitiveDissident · 01/01/2011 18:13

Another Archers addict here and finding the tension unbearable. I want to scream at the radio with frustration, esp. at the Pantomime episodes (please let it be Linda)

I think the Ed/Will storyline is a red herring, my money is on LL burning down (somehow Nigel and Kenton's fault) and Lizzie to get the chop, with Nigel being consumed with guilt, descending into an alcoholic depression and unable to care for Lily& Freddie...lots of scope there for future mayhem, esp. if Kenton is implicated as well.

David's death would leave a massive hole in the community.

Ponders · 01/01/2011 18:46

I just had a look at the summaries in the Guardian's media guide for next week...very interesting...

The Brookfield secret is "guilty" (could still be pizzas though)

mrsdennisleary · 01/01/2011 21:57

Harry to be revealed as love child of Brian? Tony?

Fallon to torch the pub to erase memories of Sid?

Those two suggestions read like a script written by Thomas Hardy.

It will probably be something much duller.

Kathie to get through an entire episode without whining?

Hellen to let one day pass without cleaning the cheese cabinet?

Kenton to act decently for a change thus confounding everyone's expectation.

Is there anyone who left years ago who might turn out to be not dead after all, and reappear w core-shaking effect?

Northernlebkuchen · 01/01/2011 22:34

Nelson!

I would love it if Nelson came back.....

HumphreyCobbler · 01/01/2011 22:41

is harry going to turn out to be Fallon's half brother? Is that why he doesn't fancy her?

SparklyMartini · 01/01/2011 22:44

That's who I was wondering about -- he was before my time but I've heard his name lots. Under what circs did he leave? Who exactly was he? Would his return SATIC?

Was he the one who was in antiques w Kenton? If so could be linked to Mummy's Brooch somehow?

All deeply unlikely I know.

Ponders · 01/01/2011 22:44

Nelson had a daughter, didn't he, but nothing mysterious about her (iirc).

I don't suppose Kate is likely to come back early & do something spontaneously horrible?

Northernlebkuchen · 01/01/2011 22:46

Everything Kate does is horrible!

Ponders · 01/01/2011 22:47

Yes, Nelson was in partnership with Kenton, & also he was shacked up with Mummy for a bit, wasn't he? (Or something...can't remember the details)

But he was definitely dead - I think that was when & why his daughter turned up (she is something unlikely like a WPC)

SparklyMartini · 01/01/2011 22:47

I had a theory on another thread about Kate turning up with Nolly and Sepo in tow (sp?), having left Lucas and snatched them illegally. I still think she might do this but don't think it would be core-shaking enough for tomorrow.
