I feel like everything is tense and artificial and building up to something terrible happening. What is going to happen? I don't listen to The Archers for the drama, I listen to it for the feelgopod factor, although I know there are always frictions and crises to cope with, but notheing too shocking.......... well there was the time when Ed was a crack head Xmas Hmm but that all got sorted out in the end and it was ptrobably for the best that he ran away to the big city and lost his way for a while etc etc....

I hope Helen's baby doesn't die. I don't actually care about Helen, but it would be just too awful.

agree completely, Captain

They could have done the dramatic birth alone.

(I hate Vanessa Whitburn Angry)

Northernlebkuchen · 02/01/2011 19:38

I feel all shaky now

CaptainNemo · 02/01/2011 19:38

I was so glad for Tony though - I don't think I could have taken it if they'd lost another child Sad

Lizzie will blame David and all the old resentmens re. Brookfield will re-surface. They've always had an uneasy relationship in my opinion.

Poor Nigel though.

toeragsnotriches · 02/01/2011 19:42

I knew it when he gave her the ring from the crack. It's all Kenton's fault for giving him a taste for silly risk taking.

Ponders · 02/01/2011 19:42

BBC Archers is completely stuck

Hope it's with people calling for VW's head

Ponders · 02/01/2011 19:43

Nigel was always up for silly risk-taking, toerags

sad but true

GrimmaTheNome · 02/01/2011 19:43

Pixie - we don't know if he's dead yet, it may indeed be something different.

goldenbirdies · 02/01/2011 19:43

Do people really think he might have survived? That would be better than a death at least - Nigel is the type to bravely triumph over adversity isn't he? As long as they don't have a long drawn-out storyline about switching off life-support.

toeragsnotriches · 02/01/2011 19:45

Yes Nemo I think they have. There is just too much grimness out there. And it's January. Don't the producers of different soaps talk to each other?

Arggh now my mum's phone's engaged. Her bf got there before me.

CaptainNemo · 02/01/2011 19:45

Agree totally Goldenbirdies. Is there no way to check if he's still in the cast list for next week's episodes?

CaptainNemo · 02/01/2011 19:46

Toerag Sad

goldenbirdies · 02/01/2011 19:47

Expect they're ahead of you there Captain

Northernlebkuchen · 02/01/2011 19:47

Unless something v big borke his fall he's dead - it's what? At last three storeys down - anymore than two is unsurvivable I think. Plus the ancient flagstones he'll have landed on Sad I loathe VW!

GrimmaTheNome · 02/01/2011 19:47

If he's badly injured they could have him missing for months though.

I could put up with an accident - after all they do happen and all that - if it wasn't so crassly set up. Only a complete loon would go out onto the roof in those conditions and neither of them are meant to be so stupid. In fact Deeavid is usually the solid sensible one! Did he really say to Nigel 'are you a man or a mouse?' Come off it.

Northernlebkuchen · 02/01/2011 19:53

THere was a bit of an error when Nigel was boasting of years of pargetter knowledge - they've been thick as two short planks for generations - surely David would have said 'Oh bugger if that's what you're relying on get over here now!'

toeragsnotriches · 02/01/2011 19:53

Yes Ponders (x post sorry) it pains me to say that you are right. And tracy I thought that too. And what about poor Jill? To lose a son in law and a husband in one year... With the exception of Phil I can't remember a male of the Archer extended family to outlive his wife? Anyone?

I'm going to need a brandy and a sit down before I listen tomorrow.

RedRosie · 02/01/2011 19:55

Not Nigel. I love Nigel. Next to my DH and DF he is my favourite man anywhere. So kind and good-hearted. Puts up with the machinations of his relatives, and is always smiling ...

I know he isn't real BTW!

Northernlebkuchen · 02/01/2011 19:57

If we look at the clan as a whole -

Phil - widowed by tragic accident, second wife survived

Jack - dead from alcoholism

Christine - first husband - git, died in accident and second husband died from natural causes.

Shula - widowed by accident

Lizzie - tbc

Lilian - widowed twice

Pat and Tony lost a son - in an accident!

Surely that's more accidental deaths than one family should have?

CognitiveDissident · 02/01/2011 19:57

David might fall as well, there could be a cliff-hanger-y thing, with Nigel desperately clinging onto a slowly ripping banner, David frantically trying to reach him and both falling...

Flying in the face of popular opinion here, but I'm not all that sorry to see Nigel go .I'd be far more upset if David fell
