I feel like everything is tense and artificial and building up to something terrible happening. What is going to happen? I don't listen to The Archers for the drama, I listen to it for the feelgopod factor, although I know there are always frictions and crises to cope with, but notheing too shocking.......... well there was the time when Ed was a crack head Xmas Hmm but that all got sorted out in the end and it was ptrobably for the best that he ran away to the big city and lost his way for a while etc etc....

I hope Helen's baby doesn't die. I don't actually care about Helen, but it would be just too awful.

traceybath · 02/01/2011 19:30

Unlikely to survive that I'd have thought. Poor Nigel.

And how guilty is David going to feel.

HumphreyCobbler · 02/01/2011 19:30

hell I hated listening to that

Mems · 02/01/2011 19:31

Sad

snice · 02/01/2011 19:32

Wouldn't like to be David giving evidence to the inquest about how he persuaded Nige into doing it

Those poor children. Am actually crying I'm my kitchen. Sad

smugmumofboys · 02/01/2011 19:32

The actor who plays Nigel was in the Times saying that listeners would be depressed or angry. He wasn't wrong.

HumphreyCobbler · 02/01/2011 19:32

yes I agree Ponders

goldenbirdies · 02/01/2011 19:34

Yuk. That was pretty crass really.

toeragsnotriches · 02/01/2011 19:35

Couldn't listen. Now I feel like a wimp.

traceybath · 02/01/2011 19:35

Typical Nigel behaviour though - Lily certainly didn't get her brains from him.

teapartyfan · 02/01/2011 19:36

just realised baby was yelling for 15 mins while DH and I were crowded round the kitchen radio aghast at what we were hearing. Not often is the Archers that compelling... Why spoil the feelgood factor that only the Archers brings?

GrimmaTheNome · 02/01/2011 19:36

Bastards.

In one of the newspaper pieces the Nigel actor said something about it might be interesting if the happiest character in Ambridge became the saddest so I think he may be severely injured rather than dead - well, people have been saying they thought there should be a disabled character haven't they? Sad

CaptainNemo · 02/01/2011 19:37

Very sad. Had hoped that given there's so much sadness in the RL ATM and given the tough financial times and how many reasons we have to be depressed etc etc that The Archers would give us something memorable BUT HAPPY for the 60th anniversary episode.... think they're misread public opinion quite badly on this one... What does everyone else think?
