No not at all Jan. Not really looking forward to it to be honest. My Mum is coming with me though.

Well, he just doesn't really speak!! Well he can make loads of "sounds" like animal noises/emergency vehicles etc. And he can say no (obviously) and hello and yes (but still nods so mostly needs prompting to say this) then strange things like "da dah" (as in I've done it tah dah!!) but off the top of my head not much else. Everything comes from the back of his throat. BUT he can say most consonants. Sigh. I think he is waiting until he is VERY sure of how to say things, and will do it when he is ready.....but there you go. His level of understanding is superb and the woman who referred him (she was 100% certain about referring him either) wasn't concerned about anything else with him. We will see anyway. He has a lot of information in his head, just no words lol!!!

I don't think they will test for dyslexia until about 7 though anyway Jan. My nephew's Dad is dyslexic and my sister was insistent on DN being tested but they did wait a while, tests came back no anyway!

maxybrown · 08/11/2009 10:08

that should have been the woman wasn't 100% certain about referring him!

Anyone know if the Cameleon seat covers fit the Frog?

5in, I'll prob be looking for a stroller come Feb for my mum when I go back to work.

nicolamumof3 · 08/11/2009 10:45

janx hope its nice, don't be afraid to say no tho if you don't like it or its not good condition, its always awkward but its your money at the end of the day, have a good look all over, check the harness, brakes, hood etc make sure all acc's there, etc. i hate picking picking buggies up always feel self concious.

we went to fireworks last night at Leeds Castle which was fab, but cold, and Luka got bored towards the end as we were there early!

5inthebed · 08/11/2009 11:27

SAl, I don't have a lodger, was trying to flog my spitfire to Janx lol.

Janx, if you want, I can keep spitfire until Feb for you. I'm not sure I want to sell it just yet anyway. I miss having two prams, so mega excited about getting a BJCM again. WOn't be selling it this time though! Well, not until ds3 is too old (ie 5) for a pram

Maxy, my friends son was tested for dyslexia at school when he was 4/5.

janx · 08/11/2009 12:28

I got it!!! the xlr I mean - in v good nick - fabrics pretty immaculate - I tested everything and got £10 more off it - wasn't the easiest of situations as ds was not happy - so had to go back into the car with dp

Maxy - my ds sounds v similar to yours - he only has 3 words really....while dd was so articulate at his age ( I think she was pretty ahead of her peers). I took ds to a walk in speech therapy play thing the other week and they have invited us to go to a special group next week. Dp had speech therapy when he was in primary school. Like your ds mine understands everything...try not to worry - he is obviously a bright happy boy -

maxybrown · 08/11/2009 12:31

I'm just stating my experience with it that's all! I'll get back in my box!

OP posts:
FlyMeToDunoon · 08/11/2009 12:33

Congrats janx.
XLRs seem to be the pushchair of the moment.

janx · 08/11/2009 12:35

Sorry didn't mean that to sound patronizing ...was hoping to offer support?

Talking of boxes...ds is happily playing tunnels in the maclaren box

maxybrown · 08/11/2009 12:38

Oh goody on the xlr. So glad it worked out ok!
I'm not really worried as his understanding is fab, it just drives me mad!! My friend's Ds didn't say really anything until 2 and a half and when he did spoke in full sentences with correct grammer! he had just been taking it all in. We'll see what they say anyway. He seems pretty with it considering anyway. What will be will be!

OP posts:
maxybrown · 08/11/2009 12:42

No jan you didn't sound patronizing and posts crossed!!!! I meant 5in said her friends son was tested earlier than what I said - age 7!!!! that's why I said I better shut up as obviously different places will test at diff ages and didn't want to say what I had said was set in stone obviously!!! But my nephew was not tested until 7. When I worked at school in plymouth they didn't test until 7 either but that was using a particular test that is done from 7 I think my nephew had this test. They bring different things out all the time anyway!!! Plus there are all diff sorts and levels of dyslexia anyway. Phew!

Anyway, you are happy with XLR???

That's the thing with typing, things never come across as intended!

OP posts:
5inthebed · 08/11/2009 12:54

Sorry Maxy, my post didn't come across as helpful as intended. Room in your box for another

I'm having a lovely chilled out morning, no kids or DH, woohoo! Not intending on getting dressed today either as nowhere to go.

I am gutted no spare cash for this weekend. Tesco doing 3 for 2 on toys as well, and could have done with buying some. Don't have any spare money til Tuesday. Oh well, I'm sure they will do it again.

maxybrown · 08/11/2009 13:04

5in

Ooh lucky lucky you how lovely! Enjoy it!

I bet tesco will do that again, def. Still a while to go yet....although it doesn't feel like it

I am FREEZING!!!

OP posts:
5inthebed · 08/11/2009 13:14

It is really cold here today as well. And raining.

The boys will be home soon, so the peace will end. An afternoon on the Wii might be in order though.

Its my birthday on Friday, and its 6 weeks to go from then, quite scary!

maxybrown · 08/11/2009 13:17

6 weeks!!!!!!!!!! is that all???? gulp.

Ooh afternoon on the wii, might join ya

OP posts:
FlyMeToDunoon · 08/11/2009 13:20

I'm freezing too and fighting with myself wether to turn the heating back on.

maxybrown · 08/11/2009 13:28

I caved in, mine's back on. I wish they made adult lodgers for on the settee

OP posts:
FlyMeToDunoon · 08/11/2009 13:32

Adult sized Kaiser...... hang on that would be a sleeping bag

carrielou2007 · 08/11/2009 13:36

We've just come back from Rememberance parade, both my nephews in it with scouts/cubs was very proud . Was freezing. Dd amd I going to make a banana cake in a bit (yum).

Lovely Bexie to start mat leave so early. My company pay just the bare bones of mat pay, it's very male dominated so few women to be wanting good mat benefits so I have to work right up to the end. I get really cross when people say they'd love 6 months off work as they think it is on full pay - er no, from my savings!!

horsemadgal · 08/11/2009 14:25

I've just had my 9th and last month of almost full pay on maternity leave. I say almost as the maternity pay is almost as much as my wages because I'm part time. Nothing now until I go back in Feb, bad timing that really.

5in, Spitfire is green? I don't do green either haaaaa!

janx · 08/11/2009 14:28

Just taken xlr out for a test drive...started driving dp mad as I can hear a squeak!! He likes the height of it - (tall dp)...I love it (apart from the squeak)...need a footmuff for it now. I told dp he wasn't allowed to put apple cores in the back pocket and he says he is going to use the old techno instead!
Oh I see about the crossed post maxy! I was worried I had upset you somehow.
It drives me mad too the lack of speech with ds and he gets soooooooo frustrated - but then on the other hand dd talks non-stop and that give me a headache....the only time she stops talking is when she is asleep

carrielou2007 · 08/11/2009 14:38

Dd refuses to lick the cake mixture bowl with her inger so she literally has her head in the bowl .

Wish I could get more than basic 123 pounds a week maternity pay or at least get dd's dad to put his hand in his pocket at all a bit .

maxybrown · 08/11/2009 14:51

Jan, get some WD40 on the back wheels. They do squeak but easily rectified mine does that too!

DS doesn't shut up either (can't even begin to imagine what he will be like wehn he CAN talk) he goes on all day long......I just can't understand a word of it! Although he is very good with his own little sign language thing, but I always try to get him to say the word too. He just says "no"

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 08/11/2009 16:26

maxy and janx i know how you feel about non talking ds, remember my luka is just that little bit older, well literally in the last month he's started saying lots of words, he's still not a clear speaker like the other two wear at this age but i can definitely understanding more of his 'words' their speech will come.
