at your free meal hmg. Not sure if there is actually a canteen there. Not even seen a vending machine! I guess i'll only get results if they need to take action, but have a normal antenatel appt next friday.

nicola, how much for Teletubbies DVD?

5inthebed · 24/09/2009 19:24

One of the hinges on the hood is mega loose. So Boots are collecting it on Monday, but I've got to wait until they receive it before they will refund/replace . Useless! It's my only pram, what am I meant to do? I'm collecting the cheap MPX tomorrow luckily, but I don't want to use it as a daily pram.

I'll hopefully get another spitfire. Ive got to send everything back with it as well! They'd better be quick sending a replacement, I'm not a happy bunny.

nicolamumof3 · 24/09/2009 19:34

do you want another spitfire tho? thought you fancied BJCM?

Ah, my DH very different SK, he loves anything that costs him less I reckon 90% of DS's toys are second hand. None of them have been scabby, in fact mostly as new. Why would he know any different?? he's a baby??!! We just couldn't afford it other wise. That means I have bit of money for some lovely clothes for him PLus means I get to stay off work until he is at school, which is nice.

besides, both me and DH grew up with no money at all, and we want DS to understand value of money too. Even now, he has his own money that he can take to car boot/shop etc. Once it's gone. it's gone!!

nicolamumof3 · 24/09/2009 19:43

I agree maxy they don't know, and most kids have soooo many toys that they don't exactly get worn out. i would only sell stuff that i'd buy myself.

I quite like the spitfire now.

Just got an email off Boots, saying "replacement order conf" and has a delivery date of 1 Oct. My Mac is being collected on Monday 28th . Does that mean I'm getting one sent out as well?

maxybrown · 24/09/2009 19:55

I know you would Nicola, trust you completely! But me too, I hate things being scabby and sold

scattykatty · 24/09/2009 20:01

Yeah I'm beginning to think your was Maxy, I mean I look at his ride on Thomas train, rocking horse, train set etc and think I could have saved a fortune getting them 2nd hand It's hard when they are your first as you want them to have the best but really getting EVERYTHING new seems a bit like money down the drain...

Dis seems to be selling a lot of buggies! I wish I had a huge buggy collection

FlyMeToDunoon · 24/09/2009 20:27

Vigour came this afternoon 5in and I unpacked it about 20 mins ago.
It looks ok. Strangely different from the vigour3 I had. Seems smaller and lower down. No adjustable footrest as you noticed, smaller hood I think. And air tyres.
Not sure if DD will fit into it.
Anyhoo with a little TLC I think it will be ok for winter weather.
Feeling any better Nicola?

My DD's get a lot of secondhand stuff as little presents. Last year I got two youngest a plastic kitchen from the second hand shop for a tenner for Christmas.
They have a lot of secondhand barbies.

sal1309 · 24/09/2009 20:36

cheers for that 5in i will have a look, shame about your mac hope you get a replacement quick. unfortuntaly dont work so that wont affect it lol not sure if we get basic family element or not but hey its worth a try lol.

I buy dd second hand toys it saves us a fortune and lets me stay off work. I also buy her xmas pressies ect in the sales after christmas so im not paying full price (such a skin flint lol)

5inthebed · 24/09/2009 20:40

There is something strange looking about the vigour Dunoon. Glad it got there ok though. Didn't take you too long to unpack did it?

carrielou2007 · 24/09/2009 20:49

I still can't work out the tax credits, I get some which are supposed to help with cost of childcare but I don't get a lot. They will go down when I'm on maternity leave as dd will not be going to CM and the last of my savings will hopefully keep me going for 6 months or will have to go back to work early

Splodge is STILL transverse (dd was but did eventually move) so lot of talk about c sections today as MW had a student with her. I kept saying no thanks will be fine and it's early days yet but she kept on an on

I've only really every bought buggies second hand, thing is if I know and trust someone fine but I could not buy 'blind' as it were at boot sales. Dd would not know the difference and suppose toys can easily be cleaned with milton. All her clothes are bought in the sales in Boots and Next and put away for when she's older.

maxybrown · 24/09/2009 20:53

I don't know Sk I have never thought like that tbh. I am not scabby, certainly not! But DS is my one and only and had second hand from before he was born. It is just the way I am, I don't love hom any less or anything. Some things I think are silly paying loads of money for when you can get just as good second hand. And less is more. I had an amzing childhood from which I can hardly tell you anything I was bought, but I can tell you about last minute family picnics that lasted until it was dark, water fights, playing board games and laughing a lot and a family that loved me. THAT is what I want DS to experience rather than a long list of toys he once had. That is my personal little thingy anyway I'm not a hippy either lol!

scattykatty · 24/09/2009 20:57

Thats so nice! I feel sometimes I over compensate as I really hate it here and buying DS nice things does make me feel better I don't want him to end up spoilt becuase I'm unhappy though

nicolamumof3 · 24/09/2009 21:02

oh scatty i do know what you mean xx

FlyMeToDunoon · 24/09/2009 21:05

I wanted new stuff for DD1, my pfb, when she was a baby but as she got older I didn't mind secondhand. My family has always valued the unusual, cheap and unique stuff you can get secondhand.
However I will be learning from my experiences and not embarrassing the DDs by putting them in it when they are sensitive to it [teenagers maybe]

reallywoundup · 24/09/2009 21:06

sorry ladies- just barging in

Thought i would share a dolls pram with you lot- i know a few months back you all went mad for Hauck Infinity's- i've been looking for a pram for dd (and as a self-confessed and almost reformed addict it had to be 'the one' ) anyway pics on my profile of a miniature hauck infinity- part of a set at littlewoods £40 but there is a code for new customers for £20 off a £40 spend therefore it was £20 delivered. Bargain! Just had to tell someone

scattykatty · 24/09/2009 21:06

I think it's just a bit loser-ish when I'm buying DS blooming ride on Vespa, really just to cheer myself up He clearly didn't ask for it, but it makes me feel better for a little bit.

But then TBH I find I've spend £200 but then I'm pretty much as miserable as before with my horrible house, in a really boring place, it's just DS suddenly has a Vespa

scattykatty · 24/09/2009 21:08

Sorry to dull the mood! I'm stuck in the house alone until DH comes back at the weekends and depress myself!

maxybrown · 24/09/2009 21:08

I know what you mean too unfortunately I HATE where we live and HATE having to bring DS up here. Both DH and I have lived in some really beautiful places as young adults and so are both finding it hard being where we are. Also I have NO friends here and it is crap I know! Hence why I spend a lot of time on the internet but that's no good either. I think my only buying thing would be clothes - but for same reasons!

I have got friends.....not a complete pathetic lonely old thing, lol, but they are 300 miles away unfortunately sods law, we have all got babies of a similar age now too!!

I think buying things in general makes us feel happy - not really, deep down but on the surface and temporarily at any rate!

Phew! All philisophical tonight!

FlyMeToDunoon · 24/09/2009 21:10

Bargain reallywounup! Love your Cath Kidston set too.
I love it when people barge in to the shed

carrielou2007 · 24/09/2009 21:12

I don't consider second hand to be 'scabby'? It's hard to know what is ok though. A local lady buys all dd's clothes from me, she knows I am clean, non-pet and non-smoking household but how do I know an unknown ebay seller is the same??

My parents had very little money when I was growing up as mum became disabled and had to give up work way before morgage protection type policies were about. I had things like knitted scarves and hats she made in the winter, great cycl rides and picnics for days out yet all my mum worried about was that they could not afford to buy us a computer. I was never bothered buy my mum still is now!!

maxybrown · 24/09/2009 21:13

yeah and it lightened the mood we have created
