New thread for buggy collectors! Grin

FriggFRIGG · 20/08/2011 19:55

oh! i cant find it anymore,it was a £35,000 patent for a weird 12 in one buggy....oh im annoyed i cant find it now!!

TruthSweet · 20/08/2011 20:36

When looking for your 12-in-1 buggy I found .

FriggFRIGG · 20/08/2011 21:09

`that's so clever!!Grin

aswellasyou · 20/08/2011 21:38

Saoirse just sold a Ziko Frankie that she bought to take on holiday. It is really nice looking-I like chrome chassis.

Truth, that pushchair would be great with quite a lot of tweaking! The idea of it being so versatle is amazing.

Frigg, I really want to know what you tried to link to now.

Tiggywunkle · 20/08/2011 21:50

That is a very cool video. I love it. We thought that Baby Jogger should bring out a side by side chassis to put the City Select seats onto. Yes it would be wide, but great for walking with, and then you could flip back to the random chassis for shopping etc.
Frigg...go through your history!

TruthSweet · 20/08/2011 21:53

I like the idea of a random chassis!

FriggFRIGG · 20/08/2011 22:02

FOUND IT!! scroll down...

TruthSweet · 20/08/2011 22:24

Very peculiar. It doesn't exactly look comfy for a baby/child to sit in ad wouldn't you feel weird pushing around a cosmetics case on a pram chassis (2nd of the 12 options).

FriggFRIGG · 20/08/2011 22:27

i also just dont 'get' what the options all are, alot of the look the same!Confused

aswellasyou · 20/08/2011 22:31

I really don't get it either.Hmm And £35,000?!Shock Blimey.

TruthSweet · 20/08/2011 22:34

I'd also like to know what baby likes their head propped up at the same time as their feet? Option 5 of 12.

Tiggywunkle · 20/08/2011 23:05

Sorry I am LMAO here. How funny! It's a canoe on wheels! Why on earth would you want a bag like that? I agree with the comment re who would want their baby to have their head and feet up higher....Does the chassis fit in the bag??? And there is no parent facing seat option! Lololololol!! It's a canoe....

FriggFRIGG · 20/08/2011 23:14
Grin i knew you'd like itWink
MonkeysPunk · 21/08/2011 05:53

The price is for the design and patent to produce the product. Not an actual item I think. It also states it can be produced as a doll toy.
I wrote a huge essay about all the prams I viewed yesterday but it vanished. :(
Will have to write again.

The kobi and xari in JL were parked in amongst a sea of black/charcoal prams and were also the grey versions. Not v eyecatching. I had imagined they'd be on a stage or pedestal with an eager assistant to hand ready to demo! The assistants were either busy or didn't notice me having a play at tilting the seat, using the hood and brake etc! Nobody else in there was even looking at them!
Ds is 3y wears Next age 2-3y. Average size. About 11kg.
The seat was wide enough, although there wasn't much room from seat top to hood height which would've been the biggest issue for me. The distance from seat to footrest was also a little short too. I'd say the seat was average size. Tbh not many folk would consider buying the xari for a kid as old as 3y I think. It's fine for a baby up to that age of course. I just don't think the seat would have a lot of growing room after 3y!

In contrast, babies r us had the best pram display area, though mostly cheap stuff! Their shop assistants were v eager to help.
I saw the silver cross surf there, I found the quality looked fab and I liked the design! I was surprised as I've not liked much that I've seen with the silver cross brand in recent times. The seat looked nice and big. The shopping basket might have been a little impractical, it wasn't too tiny though. I really loved its circular shape. I also liked the chassis and the pram hood when seen irl.

Mothercare was somewhat untidy. It was near the end of the day though. It was being run by assistants that looked too young to have left school as usual. There was nobody in their huge pram dept ready to talk about anything! I inspected the oyster there and was much impressed. It looks v good for the money! I like all the colour packs on offer with it too. I really found the product quality looked good on close inspection, apart from the shopping basket which looked a little cheap. I thought there were not enough 15% off tickets on specific products to catch customers eyes either. They need to get their act together. They ought to be. Raking it in there. The place needs tidying, cleaning, some properly trained bonus motivated staff and better labelling on promotional items to entice interest!

The Mamas and Papas shop surprised me. I don't often go in there. There was nice lighting, relaxing music, beautiful displays. Alert assistants who caught your eye but allowed you time to browse undisturbed, but somehow you knew they'd assist immediately if you asked.
There were lots of well advertised offers on products. I liked their range of products and accessories throughout the store too. They were very busy but the shop remained tidy, clean and pleasant.
Their pram display area was excellent and I was impressed by the diversity of models on offer to suit all budgets. It's a shame I keep reading on the web their customer service is lacking should you encounter problems with prams of theirs after a period of use. I cannot verify how much truth there is to this situation but to me its a bit off putting. Judging by how the store is run I'd like to hear of marks and Spencer quality customer service!
I particularly liked the ziko frankie buggy in store, on offer and it looked a real bargain. V well made product, lovely quality.

I saw the donkey in JL too. Hidden at the back of the parked prams, again, in black and not standing out from its neighbours. There were two out, side by side. Presumably to show as single with basket and as a double.
I couldn't really see the wheels. Everything was crammed in and cramped. Lots of models but too close together, all on the floor, no white pedestals or platforms to show the chassis or wheels. No space to push products along to get a feel for them.
The donkey seat looks far too narrow to my eyes!

There were two prams that caught my eye on the street. An obaby zezu chassis with car seat on. The chassis was all black. I liked the rear air tyres and front swivel wheels. I imagine its pretty ok off road or in snow too. It's small also. But hopefully the adjustable handlebar makes it ok for taller parents. Id like to see the seat unit irl too!
The other pram had a classic style bouncy chassis with 4 large fixed wheels in black, and a pram/pushchair top in red/white hawaiin style floral fabric with black contrasts. I've no idea what it was but the young baby in it looked v contented. It was nicely padded soft looking fabric.

Ha! Nevermind essay, it. was practically a book with chapters I wrote!
We picked up some bargain t-shirts in gap which the girls were pleased with, and we lhad fun trying on curtain tie-backs as necklaces elsewhere. We spent ages at the playground and had a picnic lunch. Ds did a lot of walking (on reins) and had a couple hours nap in the nipper360. He only just has headroom in complete layback but seems to find it v comfy!
I figured another more space saving way to fit the nipper in the car boot wheels on. It now takes less room than the swift did!
However, my mum has come to stay a few days so now all seats in zafira are in use. I will see if it will fit upright behind the seats. Perhaps if I take wheels off it could. Think we are going to the new forest.

Thanks for the info Mp...DD is about to go into 12-18 month clothes...She has plenty of room in her Donkey...At least in JL i can compare both the Donkey and Xari side by side...Hood's not a major issue as i'll have other pushchairs to use on wet days anyway...The Flyer is great for wet days...Though these days she will tolerate a hood up, as in a messing about sort of way.

Tiggywunkle · 21/08/2011 10:28

Great reviews of your day out. It's a shame the displays aren't great in JL. It's miles to my nearest one. Have fun with your mum here.

aswellasyou · 21/08/2011 11:15

JL in Solihull isn't as bad as you've described your local one but they keep getting more pushchairs and less space. I think they need a much bigger baby department. The Mimas did have a platform for about a month, as did the Donkey, but everything's mixed in together now.
This is the first Sunday in ages we won't be going to John Lewis, so we won't be bumping into suzie. Sad

suzie38 · 21/08/2011 16:28

That's a shame aswellasyou...I really loved the Touchwood shopping center...Really love the look of the Xari...My only complaint is that the seat isn't very deep, DD legs had a big gap at the end so not sure if it'll be super comfortable for her...Mind you it's not like she sits in it continuosly for long periods of time ie she's in and out, in and out...Once again i knew more than the staff member though she was very helpful in finding the Cosmo infomation along with another lady who was slightly more clued up...It does push really nicely, pretty on par with the Donkey...And it's got suspension just how i like it as in you can see and really feel it and it would be more noticable when loaded up and in a more used condition...And with the Joolz XL bag added, storage should be good...Would most likely take 3-6 weeks for pick up time...I could save nearly £100 buying from Europe but then if something goes wrong it won't be as easy to sort out unlike popping into my JL...Plus the foam on my Donkey has split on one side and the assistant said it won't matter if i can't find the receipt as i'll be in their system anyway...I was the first person to buy one in person, in Nottingham.
