January. DH is convinced he will be riding her to nursery in January in a bike trailer! I have told him to be a little more realistic ie March!! It's very icy around here in winter. Good luck for tomorrow.

friggFRIGG · 31/08/2011 23:56

DP is picking DD up most days on a bike seat

MonkeysPunk · 01/09/2011 06:08

I have the Vista footmuff. Mine is "old stock" though, so the inside is cream curly textured stuff with a bit of a sheen. Its not that cuddlefleece stuff.
It fits the pram v neatly, but occasionally I've had an issue with the bit that hooks under the recline lever pulling tight and the seat slipping into recline mode unexpectedly. I keep meaning to contact uppababy about this!
I have been considering getting a buggysnuggle instead as it would not intefere with the recline lever. I am currently liking the autumn leaves one.
The Vista snuggle bag is really well made and still fits Ds at 3y. I will have to look again at seeing why its intefering with the recline but suspect its Ds weight and length and him stretching his legs out pulling the hookover at the recline lever and activating it.
The uppababy snuggle bag is only fitted whwith a fabric hook at the recline lever.

Ds is due to start nursery next week and I'm feeling a bit wobbly about it.
It will be the longest we've been apart since he was born!
I am not sure he understands that I wont be staying.
He's doing 3 days from 9.30 til 2.30. I will miss him, but really need some time to %et our home ship shape, and also hope he will benefit from the socialisation, and opportunity to learn through the activities offered. It's a v small private nursery as there are no school based ones in our neighbourhood.

DD is starting playgroup in January...I went to the same playgroup myself and one of the ladies that set it up, went back to working there a couple of years ago, though she runs the older group so won't have much contact with my DD at first, but how weird is that??? I evidently was very messy, and i strongly suspect DD will be too...I dread to think about painting and sticky activities!!! Then i also worked there for a couple of years before deciding to be self employed, which was the best thing i've done.

suzie38 · 01/09/2011 08:44

I'm a bit worried about her starting but in relation to her being shy around strangers...Though having said that she's known all the 'Aunties' on a weekly basis since she was 2 weeks old as i went back to work when she was that age...But makes no difference, she acts like they're strangers every time!!! Mind you got 4 months of growing up before then and if she doesn't settle, i'll pull her out until September, when she'll get her funding anyway.

friggFRIGG · 01/09/2011 08:54

Skye is doing weird hours as its all they had left 12:30-5:30,im not sure how she'll cope as she's normally in bed at 6:30 as she gets super grumpy by 4pm...i have her name on a few other nurserys waiting lists though,so we may have to move her if she isnt settling in to a routine.
yesterday she said she wanted to come home because she missed Arlo.

she is SUPER grumpy today and being rather mean to anyone who dares talk to her,or ignores her,so im more than usually grateful to have a fully working double with two good harness's Grin

anyhooo im off out with my lovely verve soon

aswellasyou · 01/09/2011 09:33

I'm supposed to be starting university again in 3 and a half weeks Shock and putting Imara into nursery pretty much full time. I'm so sad about it but I haven't actually found anywhere to live yet so I'm trying to stress about that and not leaving my baby! Sad I think she's either going to love it or hate it with a passion. I'm planning on going to breastfeed her at lunch time each day but I don't know if that'll make things worse for her but she doesn't eat very well still. And she's turning one in two and a half weeks! How did that happen. Hmm Frigg, isn't it Arlo's birthday this week?

suzie38 · 01/09/2011 09:40

Someone on another forum used to pop into the university nursery every lunchtime to feed her son...It worked out very well for her and was still doing it close to 2 years of age...Then the forum had a shake up and no one basically returned, so no idea what happened after that.

friggFRIGG · 01/09/2011 09:55

yy feeding at lunchtime is a brilliant idea, dont let anyone tell you it'd be 'worse' for her,it wont.Smile

yes, Arlo's Birthday is on the 4th....im trying to ignore it,i cannot believe he's going to be a year old already,he's my baby!Shock

aswellasyou · 01/09/2011 10:46

You're both making me feel better about it, thankyou! Smile I went to see four nurseries and none of them seemed to have ever had someone coming in to breastfeed! I hope it does work out well for her, it'll be hard enough for me her leaving everyone we know.

aswellasyou · 01/09/2011 10:48

Frigg, it really is scary! I don't know where the year went at all. Confused

Tiggywunkle · 01/09/2011 11:49

Feeding at lunchtime is a great idea - I would do it - but just watch how the separations go. Having been on the other side of the fence, if you have an upset child it may take a while for them to settle in the morning only to be upset again being parted from their mum at lunchtime. If she is fine, go for it, but if at any point she is getting really upset when you leave, then I would have to decide which was more important IYKWIM. Equally you do get children who spend the entire morning / day waiting for their parent to return ie wishing the day away, so two returns may make this worse So listen to the staff and trust your instincts. You won't know until you try and hopefully it will be a perfect solution. Where are you off to Uni?

Frigg I can't believe where the year has gone to either. Someone said DS was nearly 14 months old last week and I said but he's just one! But he's not :( He's my baby too :) DD grew up too fast so am loving having my baby :)

aswellasyou · 01/09/2011 18:12

Tiggy, that's my concern. So far, she's spent 4-5 hours with my Mum twice and an hour with Saoirse 3 times. She's always not cared that I wasn't there been fine but they're the two other people she knows best, so it could be entirely different at nursery. I'm going to Liverpool where I was before. It's only for the final year so actually only 8 months but I'm panicking about the whole thing!

friggFRIGG · 01/09/2011 22:04

im thinking about making some customs....if i were to start making them, which buggy's do you think would be the most popular/best/easiest to make?

sillyworriedmama · 01/09/2011 22:14

what customs would you want to do frigg? hoods, liners or bumper covers etc? bugaboos seem to be the common customs (I've been hunting for someone to do customs for my cherry today lol). Also the quinny has a lot of customs available. Universal liners+bumper covers shouldn't be hard to get started on, if you decide to try it out let me know how you get on!

friggFRIGG · 01/09/2011 22:26

i think id start with liners/bumper/handlebar covers and uni footmuffs hangtights, then branch into specific brands....
i think.....
i see a lot of bugaboo ones,so id probably leave those, saturated market,i reckon.
hoods sound difficult,im a good sewer, but not a technical one IYKWIM...
i could try at some point though...hmm,id start once DD is at nursery,so in a few weeks...

sillyworriedmama · 01/09/2011 22:30

www.snunkie.co.uk/ do nice stuff, I also found sewfunkybaby and sia's stylish strollers on facebook, but I've not come across many others with such good photo albums to check out. If you can sew, it's a great idea! Plenty of people like me who can't who are willing to buy :)

suzie38 · 01/09/2011 22:31

If i get my Xari i'd like a seat liner please!!!

suzie38 · 01/09/2011 22:31

PS...Can't be arsed with Snunkies ordering system these days.

friggFRIGG · 01/09/2011 22:33

oooh thanks sillyworriedmama! ive heard of snunkie, their stuff is renowned for being good quality, with a healthy waiting list!
my mum and aunt are excellent at crochet,so i could have a line of blankets too...oooh,i think i might try to work this out...

friggFRIGG · 01/09/2011 22:35

what would be a better ordering system then?
(i could never be arsed to order from them either...)

friggFRIGG · 01/09/2011 22:37

wow,snunkie are intimidatingly goodShockGrin

suzie38 · 01/09/2011 22:40

When i ordered from Snunkie, you just put your order in...Now you have to buy a place first, and places get snapped up quickly i think...So i'd get too frustrated waiting to pounce on a free place, well a £10 place...But i agree fantastic products.

Tiggywunkle · 01/09/2011 22:40

My first Snunkie order was only part processed so I only got one instead of two, then I was told they had made a mistake on the first one and so couldn't do one to match. They did make two new ones then. But the waiting lists are too long. I have found a real gap for handlebar and bumper bar covers. One lady on EBay seems to have a monopoly! Like the Verve, I felt it needed a handlebar protector like the bumper bar has! The Duet needed a handlebar cover too. Also for footmuffs with slits like the Buggysnuggle ones so they are easily interchangeable and with a double zip so you can open the bottom up :) in nice fabrics!
