New thread for buggy collectors! Grin

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 30/08/2011 15:41

There's a small matter of circa £1200 or more Hmm....

FriggFRIGG · 30/08/2011 15:45

oh,im sure you'll find it down the back of the sofa if you rummage hard enoughWinkGrin

or you could try a power twin againHmm

FriggFRIGG · 30/08/2011 15:48

or,what about a maclaren side by side....i was considering a truimph or techno at one point, lots of people love them, but ive never seen a really good review..

Tiggywunkle · 30/08/2011 15:53

Lol...I wish! It's a long way till Christmas....and even then I don't think Father Christmas' pockets are that deep! I ought to do a side by side umbrella fold, but they don't fit in my car and I wouldn't want to buy a new one unless it's a bargain! Which would you try? I need one that is high off the ground as DD will hang her legs down. The umbrella fold tandem was too close to the ground.

MonkeysPunk · 30/08/2011 15:54

Recaro Babyzen - anybody seen one of these IRL? I has a headlight! (I bought a bike light to put on the front of my atp - but H just laughed at me! Angry )

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 30/08/2011 16:02

Yes, I have one and love it. I am sure pics are on BB and if not they are on my desktop ready to go. It looks faffy to set up but is quite easy to do one handed - just lots of steps. We use it most days to go outside with. Our local shop assistants love it as hubby 'flashes' as he goes by ;) It's very cool. Good points - awesome fold, light, good off road, plush thick seat pad, good handle, easy to push (DD likes pushing baby around on the lowest handle setting), easy adjust harness. Poor points - harness slides undone easily, flimsy hood around the sides - too lightweight but ok, hubby kicks the wheels but I don't, small basket, zip recline. Very well thought out eg protectors on the elbow for folding, wheels to pull it along etc.we like it but I need to resolve the harness.

MonkeysPunk · 30/08/2011 16:09

How does the seat size compare to the BJCM? Is the seat back as tall?
Not wanting to be rude or pry - but what price bracket are they in - similar to BJCM or a lot more?! (I'm suspecting double the BJCM price!).

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 30/08/2011 18:43

I need to check the measurement on BB because I think what is there is the seat height not what it says as the description. I think it is shorter than the BJCM because you can see the back of the seat clearly though and it needs to be shorter to fold. But it's a roomy seat but quite exposed.DS likes seeing out of it ie when we are outside but he never sleeps well (if at all in it whereas he rows the BJCM). And yes the price is nearly double the BJCM at a wild guess. £579.99 is the RRP. You can't buy them online either - you are supposed to go into a store. I had to wait ages for mine too.

Tiggywunkle · 30/08/2011 18:48

Here are my Babyzen photos
Frigg...you have had me looking for Maclarens today! They all look the same to me. Aswellas...you like a challenge...Do you know much about them? can you find me a cheap price on any new ones...or great nearly new immaculate ones on EBay preferably BIN and to ship. I am boggled TBH...maybe I need to do the two types of Maclaren?? I hate umbrella folds and worse, umbrella fold side by sides. There must be something better left to do. I want a Zoom but £400 for something likely to break is too much. I looked at a T2 but they aren't on the market new so what's the point? There must be a reason they were only for sale for a few months?

FriggFRIGG · 30/08/2011 19:15

re maclarens:
the twin triumph = small recline,no calf rest, lightweight, bit wider, bit closer to ground, all round basic.
twin techno:full recline pockets on back of seats, bit slimmer, calfrest, bigger hoods, bigger wheels, all round more luxurious.
(from what i gather)
those are the main two mac doubles on the market now.

FriggFRIGG · 30/08/2011 19:18

twin techno

twin triumph

FriggFRIGG · 30/08/2011 19:22

techno bargain

Tiggywunkle · 30/08/2011 20:26

Thank you....but I can't bring myself to buy them!!! Lol!!
The Mothercare prices are good though...but they would literally get used once.....

MonkeysPunk · 30/08/2011 22:40

I read a blog post following link from maclaren fb page about how a mother travelled x amount of us states with two young kids and a twin triumph....I was :-O
It said how great it was on sand and other terrains! I wondered if she had tried other buggies?

OP posts:
aswellasyou · 30/08/2011 22:42

I hated our Maclaren Twin Traveller so I wouldn't hold out much hope for the other twins! They do serve a purpose and I can understand why people get them but they're still pretty crap to push. And you can't get into the baskets when the seats are reclined. But here you go anyway, weirdly the cheapest I've found so far are both at Kiddisave:
Maclaren Twin Techno for £209.50 using £10 off code
Maclaren Twin Trimuph for £139

TruthSweet · 30/08/2011 23:12

Well I've given up on ordinary pushchairs for DD2 as whilst the seat back on the BJCMD is fine her legs are getting cramped and she is having a bit of a flare up at the moment.

Therefore we have gone for a special needs pushchair I've bought this a bargain at £200 Shock That's the price of a Maclaren Major Elite with no accessories so well worth it.

Amazingly it will take a buggy board so DD3 can buggy board it on the school run while DD2 rides. On the afternoons that DD2 goes to playschool DD3 can ride in it as it doesn't look too 'medicalised' (I hope!).

And it's rearfacing Grin

The only drawback is we (well DH will) just have to drive to Leeds from W.Sx on Saturday....

Tiggywunkle · 30/08/2011 23:43

Hugs re giving in and buying a special needs pushchair. I am dreading that day :(
It was a good price though - a bit of a bargain really!
It's a fair drive but I used to do it loads! When I finally moved north DH didn't hire a van big enough so it took three trips north (one with two vans) to get everything north! When we arrived on Dec 23rd, the storage unit was shut!

Tiggywunkle · 30/08/2011 23:46

Thanks for the links aswellas but I can't spend £200 on an umbrella fold side by side...I just can't....I think I need to watch Ebay for a local one...but I really need both or one Maclaren and maybe a Cosatto to do a side by side comparison....

TruthSweet · 30/08/2011 23:56

Thanks for the hugs Tiggy. Though very un-mnetty of you Wink It really was a bite the bullet and go with it thing. I just couldn't keep stuffing her in the BJCMD after my MIL showed me the pictures she took a few weeks back of DD2 & DD3 asleep in the BJCMD, DD3 looks comfy, DD2 looks cramped and squashed (no support for her legs and reclined her head is pressed up against the mesh so her neck was twisted)Sad. Her comfort means more than my not liking to face up to her arthritis

I didn't know you had a child with SN/disability/mobility issues (but then why would I?). I'll let you know how the EaSyS works for future reference. Maybe you could branch out and have a 'Wonderful Wheelchair' website? I'll do the first review for you!

Tiggywunkle · 31/08/2011 00:41

LOL, I DO have plans for a special needs section - and can certainly create one for your review :) I have that SN tandem that has been on my desk staring at me to write about but there are such huge glaring holes in BB that I am just trying slowly to keep patching them up first before doing new stuff. I dont see any need to talk about SN really. It's part of our life but thats all :) Sometimes things are better kept in boxes :)

fairimum · 31/08/2011 08:10

My vista and piggyback are out for delivery!!! I HATE waiting I have no patience at all! Think I have read every review and watched every video on you tube... I might have to resort to house work to keep me busy!

FriggFRIGG · 31/08/2011 08:38

OOOOOH! MY vERVE IS OUT FOR DELIVERY TOO! i also have zero patience (im working on it,alright!) im just sooo excited!!!Grin

fairimum · 31/08/2011 08:43

FriggFRIGG · 31/08/2011 08:52
