New thread for buggy collectors! Grin

Honeydragon · 25/08/2011 16:20

Aaarh no don't answer I'm not ready to sell! Grin or am I?

MonkeysPunk · 25/08/2011 16:22

although you could offer to deal with any genuine warranty claims on behalf of the second owner by pretending to be the owner still..... Wink to get around that one...Not really above board - but so long as the buggy is not v old and in normal use I don't see why the manufacturer shouldn't still help if the product was not durable.

Honeydragon · 25/08/2011 16:31

Gah.... I like the idea of a bjcm, but the handles very high Sad

And now you lot are considering the bee Confused

MonkeysPunk · 25/08/2011 16:43

I found this page: strollerqueen.wordpress.com/category/mountain-buggy-swift/ which seems to compare measurements of the urban jungle and swift - and both have seat backs of 20" - so if it wasn't really tall enough on the swift then the urban jungle won't be any better (as this says it's the same) - although another website says the seat back of the UJ is 24" (confusingly!)...

I do think the bee is nicer to push than the bjcm honeydragon - but there are other things I'm not keen on with the bee....so won't be buying myself (again)...I think!

pedigree double

pedigree triple
for anyone interested in having a try! (bestbuggy)?

OP posts:
aswellasyou · 25/08/2011 16:58

I reckon the Pedigree/Easylife with toddler seat will have the same issue as the Valco of being difficult to steer with the extra weight at the front.

Frigg, I'm really pleased for you that you've had reasonable offers for the Kobi unlike the £190 offer on here Shock and you're one step closer to the Verve. I'm also sad that I couldn't afford to buy it!Sad

We tried out adapting the height increasers for the B-Dual today but we couldn't work out how to do it. It seems to click in but they just come out again with a big tug so they can't possibly be in properly. Hmm It's driving us mad! Tiggy, do you know exactly what the other person did to get them to fit?

MonkeysPunk · 25/08/2011 17:12

After a "fun" day researching - I have at last found the page I was looking for again.....shop.mountainbuggy.com/index.cfm?id=278654 and can see that by buying the MB UJ I would only get an extra 1.5" seat height...not sure that this would be enough so I had better stick with my cheaper and mahoosive BJ Summit XC.... phew!

OP posts:
MonkeysPunk · 25/08/2011 17:14

I had a single with toddler seat on - with the 4 wheels conversion kit to stabilise - and it was managable....as far as tandems go - not at all bad. Would not like to try it in a hilly area mind you - it's pretty flat where we live so fine here. In hilly areas you need to buy something lightweight! (only a nipper will do!) LOL.

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 25/08/2011 17:15

Hmm...maybe...but that toddler seat just looks odd! I think I will have a break from buying to catch up for a bit as I have tons to write up and set live. I am sick of defective or damaged pushchairs....I thought the Duet would be great and easy to put up and go but it's not....I have more niggles after taking it out eg veering to the side and more.

suzie38 · 25/08/2011 17:28

That's terrible Tiggy

MonkeysPunk · 25/08/2011 17:31

I don't blame you Tiggy - I'm sure you've loads to write about for BB - before you forget! (do you make notes on a notepad first? - I often write out ebay adds on paper first then type them up as it helps me remember all the plus points - although I'm a bit scatter-brained so I need to!).
I am so sorry for you that the duet was not as good as promised. :( I know you had been looking forwards to getting it for so long.
I think I'll clean up the nipper tomorrow and photograph for sale - I have LOVED using it but must sell if DS is outgrowing it - but we've had some fun with it these last couple of weeks! (albeit shortlived).
I hate when I buy something then find out it's got a flaw - it really niggles me! I can understand how fed up you must feel. You've just had an unlucky run on things lately I think. Brew

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 25/08/2011 18:22

No...I am bad...I simply sit down and type and it just all flows...but then it makes it hard to slot other things in. But I do different things eg photos with and without the children and then my overall essay. So there's opportunities to write from different angles plus highlight things without commenting if you know what I mean.
I wish the Nipper hadn't been faulty now. Although it is wide I am seriously contemplating getting another. It was so easy to push and I loved the storage etc. I didnt like other bits like the foot rest and folded size but it felt nice. Hubby hates the Duet and wants it gone. I wont be so easily defeated though....

FriggFRIGG · 25/08/2011 23:00

im going to the oxford pram center tomorrow,im soo excited !!!

squuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Tiggywunkle · 25/08/2011 23:33

Ha ha....at least you aren't wunking, Frigg! Enjoy tomorrow. It will be pram heaven!!

Actually I forgot Monkeys. I do sit down with a notebook and write as soon as I get back from outings. But I tend to only refer to it if I get stuck or need to check on a detail. I am busy sorting photos out at the minute. It's all hugely time consuming but hopefully worth it.

MonkeysPunk · 26/08/2011 09:12

Enjoy your outing Friggfrigg! I'm jealous! X
Tiggy your write up of the duet is fab. Really detailed as is the point of BB...to give buggies a thorough close inspection in a way websites selling them don't!
I'm intrigued by the hole in hood, unless its for sat nav, an auto mummy chocolate dispenser, or to insert a story telling speaker then I'm not much impressed.
Tiggy which do you prefer out of the twin elite and the twin nipper?
I'm sort of wondering whether to swap from the summit to elite. Not twin though! The elite should be a little narrower and have flatter layback. also the elite has magnets on the hood. I wish the summit had magnets instead of velcro.

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 26/08/2011 09:35

I am jealous of the outing too
I am glad the write up is ok. I always worry about them. I am honest..utterly honest...but what I try and do is build up a picture across several posts and update with later reviews if appropriate. Photos are really important (however badly taken they are) because it shows the things the reader cant see otherwise. I always write essays too but if people do not want to read then so be it! Lol! I have a separate post to do about the hole in the hood. There is one very simple explanation but Mountain Buggy say it's for three other reasons on their FB all of which make no sense to me (and others). But it was 4am by the time I finished that lot so quit there for the night!
Re the Elite and Nipper - in terms of the twins (as I have only seen those properly) - it's tough but as a double there is no question that the Elite would win - but only really on points that affect the twin ie the Elite has separate hoods, the width is too wide for a lot of doorways and I would hate to go out wondering if I would fit through doors, the footplate isn't the right shape for two sets of feet etc. But these niggles are removed in the single. Beyond that, I dont like the mesh in the back of the Nipper seat for winter, plus I had bent wheels, and is the single hood still as shallow? I love the deep hoods of the Elite - a huge plus for me. I like the way you can raise the footrest on the Elite. Both should have good storage based on the double. I like the Elites adjustable handlebar plus I suspect it's more solid for shhh hanging bags off the handlebar? It's got chunkier wheels and handbrake. Plus the lifetime Baby Jogger guarantee on everything but fabrics. But the Nipper is light and very Nippy and I suspect the new version is great. It's just a shame the double is so wide. Hubby really wants another one though!! Which wasn't in my plan. But after the poor quality of the Duet, I am loathe now to buy a +one....very wary....especially when I know the +one won't fit in my car. The Nipper may be the answer for my problem shopping trips (needing storage) when the Peach goes. But with one badly bent wheel and another slightly, again I am wary of the quality. I have had issues with my City Select but Kooltrades customer service was unquestioning and fab. Sorry that's turned into an essay but I love these 'which would I buy debates'. They really make me think! I am currently trying to help a lady who has one shot at buying the right double pushchair and it's a real challenge! doubles are soooo hard!

Tiggywunkle · 26/08/2011 09:36

Sorry I meant the double Nipper width is an issue.

MonkeysPunk · 26/08/2011 10:23

I am definately keeping the summit now. There are some really nice features to the elite, however its more economical to use the one I already have.
I might sell the two silver nomad snuggle bags, one is unused, the other only a few times. They're both pretty funky. One has a droplets pattern.
I'll use my outlast bag another winter.
Will put nipper in bathtub and clean ready for sale while Ds has his nap.
Hope to take our summit to the newforest this afternoon. Hoping the rain drifts off by then. Am going to get the girls to wear their hiking boots (pink ones!) And take their cameras so they can stalk animals!
I had better get a move on. Ds currently in bath after his washing up liquid exploration this morning....it does feel nice and slippy as you rub it on the floor I guess.. !

If only bugaboo made a tandem bee...or sit n stand bee!

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 26/08/2011 10:48

I think the City Select is pretty near perfect - the weight distribution is what is fundamentally not right though. Plus the front seat is a little too close to the floor when forward facing and when you are pushing it you have zero idea where the front child's legs are. A couple of inches more on the chase could help the weight (but I am no technician) but the upper carrycot would then fit on parent facing and maybe you could get a better choice of recline positions. The Kobi chassis is superb but personally the seats are too large for our lifestyle even though they are gorgeous. The new iCandy Peach Blossom as everything I need, great handling with older children, large shopping basket, good stability, good seating options, comfy seats with options for more height / width, large hoods for the winter or sun, small fold. It's still not perfect - noisy hoods, brake tucked away under lower seat, recline is awkward on lower seat - but those are really minor things. It does really stand out for me - and I am always honest. My problem is it will have to go back at some point...
The droplets nomad sounds lovely. I need to get trying cosy toes out to see a) if DD will fit anything we currently have and b) what fits or suits what!
I am glad you have decided the keep the Summit. I bet we end up with one, one day.
The New Forest sounds lovely. I used to love driving through there. I miss the variety of activities there are within easy reach 'down south'.

Tiggywunkle · 26/08/2011 10:49

I still need to try a Bee out....hmm! I almost bought one with DD but the curved chassis meant it took too much room up in my car boot whereas the Chameleon chassis and seat are flat. I would love to see what is so great about them though. One day!

Honeydragon · 26/08/2011 11:04

I am having issues with Bugaboo over mine Hmm

MonkeysPunk · 26/08/2011 11:13

Bugaboo were not helpful to me when I said the harness was too short.

They said use forwards facing only with lower seat pushed fully in for maximum harness length! It still wasn't long enough over winter clothing so I had to sell the buggy. That was when Ds was only 2y and wearing age 18-24m clothing so not exactly big for age.

OP posts:
Honeydragon · 26/08/2011 11:17

Was that the + or orginal?

MonkeysPunk · 26/08/2011 11:24

That was the + bee too! Then the front wheels wobbled a lot if pushed empty too. Other than those issues it was v likeable!
