Thread II.......Oh dear

OP posts:
aswellasyou · 02/07/2011 11:38

Hmm 'of pick up sticks'!

Guildfordnanny · 02/07/2011 12:17

No, I haven't even seen one of those before. I suspect it's a few years old? I agree re the game of pick up sticks. It looks a bit odd doesnt it? But one f my favourite pushchairs was a bebe confort. 12kgs is light for a double. Most are around 15kgs but go as low as about 9kgs. Are you thinking of buying it?

aswellasyou · 02/07/2011 13:04

Possibly. I have no idea how much it'll go for and I'd need to get a basket for it. It seems too good to be true though!

Guildfordnanny · 02/07/2011 13:58

I hope you do. I would love to hear what it is like. Hubby is taking me to buy a bike for my birthday Shock I haven't been on a bike for almost ten years and even then it was only briefly and not in public Blush. But it's all because of him getting the Taga! He thinks we should have family outings rather than me have a few hours of peaceful child free time for the first time ever!!! I can see a trailer being bought for me to tow the children for Christmas at this rate!! (not for use on roads - we have a bike track to the beach). Ho hum!

MonkeysPunk · 02/07/2011 16:08

Guildfordnanny you could get a weehoo!
aswellasyou the bebeconfort has a basket included, though its not pictured, if you read the description.

Guildfordnanny · 02/07/2011 19:55

Lol Monkeys. I need to get myself safe first. But I also have two children if hubby doesn't come too. But a Weehoo definitely an option as we have been talking about getting DD the 3-4 miles to school each day as hubby doesn't drive partly as a back up plan but partly because he wants to bike it!

MonkeysPunk · 02/07/2011 21:15

You could use a weeride on the front of your bike, and a weehoo on the back. Do all good child related bike accessories begin with "wee"? Lol

aswellasyou · 02/07/2011 21:23

Thanks Monkey, I didn't even read the listing!Blush Guildord, you've made me more interested in it now so I could let you know what it's like. I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to cycling. I'm not great at it and then I had a bit of a panic cycling through a market in Bangkok 5 years ago and haven't been on one since.

Guildfordnanny · 03/07/2011 18:05

Panic cycling in Bangkok sounds like a story and a half! I have just bought a Graco Quattro Duo to try out :o

aswellasyou · 03/07/2011 20:12

Damn it! I didn't win the Twin Club. I'd left a bid and gone out but I kind of wish I'd bid more even though I can't really justify it.
Guildford, it's not much of a story really! I'm just a big wuss and the people of Bangkok just wouldn't GET OUT OF MY WAY!! There were people/market stalls/vans/dogs/rubbish everywhere.

Guildfordnanny · 03/07/2011 21:07

What a shame re the Twin Club :( Anyine who considers cycling in a big strange city is far from a wuss! I am dreading going a few feet down a disused railway line! I am sure a Bugaboo Donkey would have been a better birthday pressie!

aswellasyou · 03/07/2011 22:31

My sister and Mum managed the full 6 hour trip around Bangkok and nearby paddy fields, so I felt like a drama queen for walking my bike back after 10 minutes!BlushGrin I definitely don't think I'd be too impressed with a bike as a present. Especially as I'd feel obliged to use it and probably kill myself in the process. I'd love to be able to ride confidently though.

FriggFRIGG · 03/07/2011 22:38

sold the MB today Smile
i think im going to sell the lovely contours too,and buy an uppababy vista with rumble seat....

i saw a vista today,it looked great! and not all that big, certainly nothing like the size of a britax b-dual...more like a vigour....i also saw a bumbleride indie!! i thought it might be you for a minute suzie you weren't at Winchester hat fair today were you????

twas a fab day out though,
watched a mental guy swallow a sword and juggle with a mahooosive array of knifes, and a CHAINSAW ON A 3FT UNICYCLE Shock
DD did some circus trick stuff and drank her weight in neon coloured slushies Grin
and i got a new dress Grin

suzie38 · 03/07/2011 22:44

My pushchairs aren't selling well at the moment but have sold a number of clothes so far this evening...Saw a M&P Freestyler system at a car boot today...I should have asked the price because if it was £20 or so i could have cleaned it up and sold it for £40 on eBay...Might try that once my collection has gone and i've got space again.

No Frigg it wasn't me, i live nowhere near Wincester.

MonkeysPunk · 03/07/2011 22:50

Friggfrigg we almost came to winchester today. A friend got ordained at the cathedral this morning. Sadly h is abroad and so we had no transport, i looked into trains but its not that easy on a Sunday.
Sounds like we missed a really lovely day there...esp as we stayed home, kids fell out with neighbours kids, I'm now Angry at them too. Being really unhelpful when their kid was bullying my dds and had taken a special toy of theirs and wouldn't return it.Sad so wish i had come to winchester instead. Even if it did mean getting up at six and walking a mile to the train station.

Guildfordnanny · 03/07/2011 22:53

That hat fair sounds fun and scary! Chainsaws on unicycles don't sound safe! :o Arrgghhh I talked myself out of a Vista because it looked huge and I didn't want a big pushchair. But the Rumble seat is only meant for up to 15kg I think?

FriggFRIGG · 03/07/2011 23:12

hmmm,that could be a problem...DD is nearing 3 stone.....

FriggFRIGG · 03/07/2011 23:16

aww, would have been great to have seen you there!!!
i always think it would be weird, because, you'd see someone, and think, you knew who they were, but you wouldnt be sure IYkWIM....like, id see the buggy, then the amount of kiddos, then the names of the kiddo's....

and then id realize i was standing, staring at some random people, looking like a total wierdo.

i have never done that. honest

suzie38 · 03/07/2011 23:17

Given she wasn't impressed with a P&T i can't see her liking the Rumble seat especially as both kids have to travel rear facing...My DD rear faces in the car but isn't keen on it in a pushchair.

FriggFRIGG · 03/07/2011 23:22

well,i have had her in the contour rear facing for a few days, and she actually quite liked it,all she does in buggys is draw anyways, she never looks out at anything,as shes walking most of the time, she uses her buggy time differently now, draws, eats, drinks sleeps (she sleeps sitting up whenever possible, always has,i think because she had reflux as a baby) then gets out and scoots Grin

Guildfordnanny · 03/07/2011 23:46

You need a +one with Freerider then ;) Perfect apart from not rear facing....I just wish...hope....fingers and toes crossed....that it will wedge into my car diagonally without having to put a child or hubby in the boot

FriggFRIGG · 03/07/2011 23:53

ahh, see, thats the deal breaker,i really, really want a rear facer for DS.....i'd just keep the contours if another RF wasnt on the cards....

i do LOVE the idea of a freerider though!!

MonkeysPunk · 04/07/2011 00:08

Friggfrigg was it you that mentioned some travel drawing thing your child liked to use in the buggy? If so what was it please?

MonkeysPunk · 04/07/2011 00:17

Oh Ds is loving the "incognito" sunshade on the Vista. He pulls it down whenever he doesn't want to be looked at.
Hethe Vista seems quite small front to back, but the rear wheels are pretty wide. It looks less imposing from the front where the two smaller wheels are closer together. The toddler seat unit is long/tall too. I think overall it looks big, as seat is high up too (i love that, right out of the reach of doggies... some doggies i like, but there are some that frighten me! ).

Guildfordnanny · 04/07/2011 01:19

I think what bothers me about the Rumble Seat is that in the US the weight limits are usually higher than the UK. And yet everywhere says 15kgs max. If it were more, then I would probably get one, again to have DS rear facing. But DD is too near 15kgs to be worth it. If the UK said 15kgs and the US said 20kgs then things would be different.

Look what I have found tonight:
Red Folding Utility Wagon
I think it is very very cool! Hubby won't be talked into one though. They do ship from the US. There is another less luxurious version but they won't ship that one. Perfect for long day trips!
