Old home owners contacting me

I moved into my new house about 2 months ago and the sellers keep ringing me. First I had to arrange for collection of items that they said the delivery company left. Now a parcel turned up and they asked me to forward it on which I've done. But now it continues, there are items they think they left in the house that they want and also a shelving unit that's screwed to the wall. Where does it end.

Block them - if you dont answer you will still see their attempts at contact. You dont need the stress and worry of even knowing that.
And ditto advice already given re sign, return to sender, signpost them to solicitors if they manage to overcome the blocking

Some people are both disorganised and entitled. But sometimes systems just break down, and it's not the fault of the people who have moved out. We occasionally get non junk post for the last but one occupiers of this house, who moved out 25 years ago. I have no idea where they are. I just send it back. But whatever records the senders are using, they need updating.
I have a load of other examples, but I wrote them out and they looked quite tedious. I'm expecting a few mail hiccups when/if my own house sale finally goes through. There's always something when you buy a place someone has lived in before. We're buying an empty house, and DH is already winding himself up in case they leave behind the crap that's being stored in the garage.

I had someone call round several times saying she had left xyz behind, she hadn't, and was just being a pita for some unknown reason, she weren't asked in obviously. So, on the 5th visit "Stop harrassing me or else. I've done this on my doorstep with my infamous psycho stare - it worked a treat. She asked me if I was unhinged, I said yes, then she burst into tears said she'd call the police, I told her to go ahead and slammed the door.😆
Oddly enough, police never turned up nor did the silly cow ever again.

I had been moved into my house about a year when I had a knock at the door and the woman on the doorstep explained that she had lived there before the last owner... who had been there for about five yrs... and wanted to know if they had left a yacht mast in the attic? You might be surprised to know that I said no, because frankly if you had not missed it in six years, then I am not going up there to check it for you. Anyway, the house was a Victorian terrace, so pretty unlikely...

It's too late. Direct them to their estate agent for any queries.

Just text them saying 'sorry I can't find any of the things of which you speak and am no longer able to engage in communication with you'. Then block!

Just block them. Some people are just weird/CFs. One house we bought the previous owners turned up on the doorstep about a year after they'd moved out asking if we still had the living room curtains 🤣 As it happened, we did, but they had been in the very damp cellar for ages so they were covered in mould. Happy for them to take them away!
We have been in our current house for over 20 years, and still get Christmas cards for them. I got them and other post redelivered for the first maybe 3 years, but no more. Anything else just gets 'no longer at this address' and put back in the post box. The Christmas cards go in the bin.

No, tell them to come and collect within 24 hours and after that you will not accept any communication from them.Any item screwed to the wall counts as a fixture and they cannot take it with them.

Absolutely not. Block them now.
I blocked my buyers in the end as they were a bit like this. I knew they would be a pain during the buying process when they wanted to come around once a week with a different excuse each time, need to measure for curtains, want to look at this or that. They were coming over like once a week and staying hours. Once I sold they were constantly calling me asking how to work things, i left all of the manuals for everything but I helped out for a while. After 6 months the oven wouldnt turn on and they wanted me to call the insurance conpany to get it fixed. I ended up blocking them in the end as it just didnt stop.

The previous owners of our current property did this too, asked several times in the week before completion if we could delay our moving in day. We actually did give them a few days (completed on Friday, told them they needed to be out by Monday). We went to the house after we'd completed on the Friday to read the meters, because they hadn't, and they hadn't even started packing! My DH had to basically wrestle a set of keys out of their hands. Total CFs!!

When you say you had to arrange for collection do you mean with a delivery company or just let the couple know when you’re home?

Ignore any further requests, they are taking the piss. Anything that didn't go with them on moving day is yours now.

I moved into my current house in September '24, and was still receiving bank information (including a credit card and PIN!) 18 months later!

All I get now is the odd charity mailing and the yearly christmas card from Lyn and Phil down in Cornwall!
