@Freshstartyear25Hows yours going? That’s so weird because we don’t have gas, only electric and that’s been seen as a plus for people viewing.

@CreepingCroneI hope you’re ok! Shocking incompetence. Unreal you have to pay for that.

@ShiraShiraGood luck!!

@Sugarcube84Thats insanely slow?! Still looking good for tomorrow?

Our buyers had their mortgage approved which is great, still waiting on the underwriters from ours.

I went ahead and booked the survey (can refund if needs to be cancelled) as a show of good faith to our vendor that we are still progressing.

Also started shelling out legal fees to keep boxes ticked.

Ive had numerous moments where I wonder if we are doing the right thing but it’s too late now I guess 😂 everyone has cold feet moments right?

CreepingCrone · 23/03/2026 11:45

@DoubleShotEspressox very cautiously optimistic today.... Through my state agent, we've agreed a move date with our buyer and both booked removals vans for 2.4.26. Have booked my rescue into kennels to keep life simple for him. Still waiting for my solicitor to confirm and to exchange contracts. Definitely expect my solicitor to sabotage my only glimmer of hope 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Thanks! They did offer and we accepted. Very happy, but slightly nervous as all the properties we were interested in / wanted to offer on have now all gone! Seeing one on Thursday that’s a contender but if not, it’s a case of waiting for new ones to come on to the market. Hopefully some will come on soon before our buyer starts getting itchy feet! I totally understand those nervous feelings you’re having, this really is so stressful isn’t it!

Is anyone planning to move across the country? It's so difficult to find a property from such a distance and I don't want to go into rental. I'm panicking already.

Singleoldermum · 23/03/2026 21:40

Wouldn't it be surreal if some of us on here are actually in the same chain? 😂 I don't think it's likely, but can you imagine, we're unknowingly complaining about the other side.

Having done many national and international moves, I'd seriously suggest moving into rental before you buy unless you know the area you are moving to really well.

You'll find once you actually live there, your perspective of different places will change massively and you'll also get a better feel for realistic prices in the areas you are looking at. Different towns and villages around here can vary quite a lot in terms of reasonable asking price, but you probably wouldn't really see why unless you live in the area.

You may also want the flexibility to move schools etc (if relevant to you), or find that commutes that on paper are fine, in reality are not.

mrssunshinexxx · 24/03/2026 14:14

It’s not impossible @Singleoldermum 😂
we didn’t proceed with first property after the second viewing down to the vendor and the house definitely right decision.
we have found another property though and the chain is closed and everyone is on with conveyancing. Hoping by end of June to complete

DoubleShotEspressox · 24/03/2026 17:37

@Singleoldermum That would be hilarious 😂

DoubleShotEspressox · 24/03/2026 17:42

@ShiraShira Good luck with your viewing. I hope it lives up to your expectations.

@CreepingCrone You’re on the home stretch now!!

@mrssunshinexxx Sounds like you’re on a home straight! June would be a really quick turnaround.

Im getting pressure from our buyers (FTB) who are really keen to move in yesterday and want us to proceed at lightening speed. The end of the chain isn’t even complete yet - the end buyer is looking at chain free properties but hasn’t found anything yet.

We had our mortgage offer confirmed today which gives us six months before we have to go through all this bullshit again.

Neighbours are livid we are leaving. I said until we exchange I don’t expect anything to happen. Our broker recommended our conveyancer and I spoke to her for the first time today and she sounds…. Like an idiot. A very expensive idiot.

DisappointedD · 24/03/2026 18:43

Ekkk deposit and fees paid today, hoping to exchange tomorrow and complete Friday. I can’t believe how fast this has happened. 🤞

Good luck everyone else in the process 🍀

HettyMeg · 24/03/2026 21:50

We're trying to but struggling to find anything we like within our budget within the area we like. Like tumbleweed around here currently. We have had estate agent photos taken in preparation to sell

mrssunshinexxx · 25/03/2026 11:26

@DoubleShotEspressox sorry but that made me laugh! Mine luckily seems competent so far but he came recommended . Yeah I don’t know if it will happen top of chain wants to exchange within 6 weeks if that happens then there’s no reason we won’t complete by end of June x

@DisappointedD how fast has it been? How exciting !

OP posts:
CreepingCrone · 25/03/2026 12:57

I'm still in limbo. Still hoping to complete next week, but my solicitor hasn't got her act together to exchange. Tomorrow is the deadline if the move is to go ahead before Easter 🤞🏼
@DoubleShotEspressoxmy solicitor is either an expensive idiot or a sadist. I really find it hard to believe anyone could be as incompetent without considerable effort! 🤯

We haven’t exchanged yet 😬

We reserved the plot about 6 weeks ago, but had some issues with our original mortgage offer so didn’t instruct the solicitors until 2 weeks ago! Solicitors instructed 12th March, mortgage offer 14th March.

apuwa · 25/03/2026 16:50

We are moving to Germany in August and just got photographer to take pictures of our house. We will move in rental and planning to buy house there after we have settled in.

photographer was about 80 years old! Stage agency sent him and I googled and apparently he is very good. Dh saw the pictures and they looked good.

not sure when we our house will go on sale but within couple of weeks I assume.

I’m in the same position. Can’t find anything that we like but already on the market. To be honest I am already getting cold feet. The strain of trying to keep the house up to scratch constantly is already almost unbearable.

ShiraShira · 25/03/2026 22:20

Wow, what a day! Viewed a house, loved it, offered and got accepted, then the chain became complete same day too! Short chain this time so we really hope all will go smoothly, after everything collapsed with our previous chain. Can’t believe it!! Feel like it was all meant to happen the way it did so that we could get this house. Although the stress we have had over the past five months has not been pleasant….

DisappointedD · 26/03/2026 07:00

Fingers crossed for you @ShiraShira 🍀

DisappointedD · 26/03/2026 14:46

Woohoo! Amazing!

Freshstartyear25 · 26/03/2026 18:22

Amazing new to those exchanging and completing. Glad you’re close to happier times.
Things are not moving here. We had an asking price offer that’s not procedable and one low ball offer that we told where to go. 10 weeks on the market now and we’re thinking of quitting at this point because there’s even no house I love on the market anymore. The ones I like are either sold or have been taken off the market and with all the news going around, not sure anymore.

Singleoldermum · 26/03/2026 21:32

I've had the last of the enquiries sent through today, so hopefully all will be done within the next week or two. Starting to get cold feet though.

It's a relatively new build (though second hand) and there are estate management charges to pay. I had thought before it's going to be pretty much par for the course of having a newer property, but now Google keeps sending me news stories of horror situations!

Someone please talk me down!

ForPinkCrab · 26/03/2026 23:07

Well since I first posted on this thread about not having anyone view, we dropped the 10k and it got busy with viewings and we accepted an offer on ours and also had an offer accepted on one we want.
This all happened last week so it’s early days. We had to drop another 5k but expected to as it’s so quiet . The people buying ours are first time buyers, and really love all the improvements we’ve made and appreciate the quality and everything done to a high standard as I’m fussy .
The house we are buying is similar , you can see the effort they have put into everything and it’s all finished really nicely . I’ve looked at loads of places where the work is terrible , unfinished , skirting boards hanging off, holes in walls and really bad decorating . I’ve only been looking at houses that from the photos look like there’s no work needed, boy was I wrong!
The thing is the house we are buying belongs to a couple splitting up and they have a little girl . When I was looking round I felt really sad as everything is newly finished with a lovely extension . We are wanting it for our retirement years but they were just starting out. Feel so bad for them ☹️
They both are looking to buy so it could be a long chain !

Brilliant! That's fantastic news 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

CreepingCrone · 26/03/2026 23:22

I've had confirmation today that our move is going ahead on 2nd April. We still haven't exchanged but I've booked removals and will spend the interim packing. My big dog is booked into kennels, to make life less frightening for him.
The move is 5 weeks behind schedule, and a long time coming. I've been stuck living with my aggressive ex for 3 years (and we both wfh!). He's wigged out yesterday and today, so things are fraught. I cant wait to be in my own safe and peaceful home 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
