Yellow bathroom suite yay or nay?

Got a beautiful primrose yellow bathroom suite in great condition, the bath stays hot for hours as it's metal. Very solid stuff from the 60s/70s.

I'm updating the bathroom around it, but tradesman reckons the house won't sell as well unless I replace the suite with a modern white one.

Is he right? Is there really no place for a retro suite with buyers nowadays? I love it and am gutted we'll be leaving it behind at some point tbh.

I love it and would go for dark green or dark blue walls and ceiling, with dark apricot towels and accent colours, wood loo seat and bath panel, huge plants and a statement light fitting.

Leave it. It's gorgeous! 😍 We had a light aqua-blue bathroom suite that was put in when the house was built (early 1970s.) In 2010, we decided to 'upgrade' and changed the old steel bath to a plastic one. (A whole new bathroom suite actually - in white!)

The new plastic bath was shit. It creaked and moaned when we were in it, and after about 9 months, we could see the shadow of the metal frame underneath the bath (that was supporting it) that had worn through, and marked the bath.

One of my biggest 'house' regrets! Getting rid of the beautiful steel bath! So many people told us that we need to get a new bathroom, as this one is 35 or so years old and looks naff. Hmm We felt pressured, and got a new 'modern' bathroom suite, as we had been convinced the old one was naff and shit. There was nothing wrong with it!!!

It was like this one, and I could cry when I realise how beautiful it really was, and how shite the new bland, white, basic bathroom suite was. 😢

We decided to NEVER be badgered, and coerced by people again!

I love it. I've been renovating a 2006 house and I've actually hunted down some coloured bathroom items and paid a pretty penny to get some new-old stock. I think the yellow is a very pretty colour, soft and cosy. And I totally agree on the joys of a proper steel bath.

Oh and just to add, you can still buy matching toilet seats for these suites. A bit pricier than basic white, but definitely worth getting the yellow seat instead of the mismatch.

@vetprob
My parents’ house had the original 1970s bathroom suite in primrose yellow accompanied by ditsy floral wallpaper and , sin of sins, carpet on the floor. The house was sold in 2016 so I’m sure it’s gone now. Dad built the house himself and we moved in 1974.

1974 at its best
