We just had one installed in our new kitchen and I love it.
Didn’t think I’d be so impressed but making a hot drink takes seconds and if I think “oh I’d quite like a hot water bottle “ ta dah!

WhitstablePearl · 04/12/2024 20:12

Yes, love it. Wish I'd gone for the fizzy water option

Inthechillyhoursandminutes · 04/12/2024 20:14

How timely, I spent yesterday trying to decide just this.

Watching with interest.

minipie · 04/12/2024 20:15

Love it. It’s not just for tea - use it all the time for boiling water to cook pasta or veg.

If I cook somewhere without one I now get annoyed at having to wait for a kettle (or two) to boil - yes I know I am spoiled!

Why no space under the sink?

SausageinaBun · 04/12/2024 20:16

We had one installed in the summer, with hot cold and fizzy. I had wanted an American fridge freezer for cold water/ice, but we went with the Quooker instead and I'm very happy with that decision. Buy we aren't short on cupboard space, so that wasn't an issue.

UtterlyButterly2048 · 04/12/2024 20:18

Yes. With the fizzy water option. Amazing bit of kit (once you get over the nausea inducing expense). I was bereft recently because I thought it had broken….a few messages with very helpful customer services revealed that actually, it had turned itself off after a power surge, so I turned it back on and all is well. Wouldn’t be without one.

orangeblosssom · 04/12/2024 20:18

Yes. Very handy

Calian · 04/12/2024 20:23

I love mine. I wish I'd got the one with sparkling water too.

I need to fit the bins + the stuff for dishwashing + washing machine. So I’m not sure all would fit

Love it. Got it after seeing posts on here as had previously dismissed as a waste. But we use it all the time, not just for tea but cooking.

BearOnABlanket · 04/12/2024 20:34

I love mine. I have the fizzy water version. Tea, instant noodles, boiling water for pasta or whatever, never tempted to buy fizzy water - it's brilliant.

My eldest and my dad were scandalised and insist on calling it a 2k kettle, but I don't care. It's brilliant.

EmmyPankhurst · 04/12/2024 20:39

Hate them. I worry a lot about someone accidentally releasing hot water on themselves.

Have used a variety of brands in work place kitchens and maintain that view. The quooker in a recent airbnb was particularly splashy of boiling water.

It won't surprise you to know the I don't have one!

BearOnABlanket · 04/12/2024 20:41

Hate them. I worry a lot about someone accidentally releasing hot water on themselves.

They allege that the way they aerate the water coming out of the nozzle reduces the potential damage - plus, you have to get the 'click, click turn' just right or nothing comes out at all - it's not just a lever you press (my friend had one of those many years ago, and it was too easy to get boiling water on you with that)

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 04/12/2024 20:45

Its a no from me. Yes having a quooker seems convenient and yes no worktop space taken up with a kettle - but I would need to find new homes for the things in the cupboard. All the cleaning stuff etc - Ive nowhere else to put that stuff.
Plus as @EmmyPankhurst I think they are potentially hazardous. We've got something similar at work (they might actually be quooker taps Im not sure). Im forever getting scalding water on my hands when all I really want is water for a quick wash of my hands or to rinse something etc.

ShipToNoveltle · 04/12/2024 20:57

If you somehow manage to confuse a textured collar push push turn with a tap handle you might need to see a doctor Confused plus as above if you don't get the push push turn quickly enough it doesn't dispense anything. It isn't hard to use though.

The best thing about the Quooker that most people don't talk about is the ability to turn on the cold tap and the boiling water at the same time meaning you can have incredibly hot water to wash up items with rather than running drinking water down the drain whilst you wait for your hot tap to deliver hot water.

I have had mine about 3 years now, I had a "hot" water tap before that. I have the most basic so just one tank, no filter as we are not in a hard water area. My sink cupboard is only 60cm wide and I have a one and a half bowl sink. I also have a waste disposal unit in there too. I can still fit all my tea towels and dishcloths in there along with the connections to both the dishwasher and plumbed fridge freezer.

Best way to work it out is to make a cylinder out of paper to the same measurements as the Quooker tank. We fitted ours ourselves so were able to put it exactly where we wanted leaving room on the bottom of the cupboard for the tubs of tea towels etc.

SeaEssence · 04/12/2024 20:59

Have Quooker at work and Qettle at home. Personally I prefer Qettle. As to boiling tap in general, I'd never go back, and we don't even drink that much tea...

BIWI · 04/12/2024 21:03

I love mine. I love the fact that it's so quick, and that I don't have to have a kettle on the worktop. However, in the 5 years we've had it, we've had to have it repaired/replaced twice. The first time was under warranty, but the second time - a different fault - it cost us £200.

I didn't research options other than Quooker, at the time, so don't know if it's a brand that is less reliable, or if we've just been unlucky.

But that said, if we were doing another kitchen, I'd definitely have one again.

(It's also very difficult to see how anyone could accidentally turn on the boiling water - it took DH several times of me explaining how to use it, followed by a Youtube video before he could do it!)

JemimaTiggywinkles · 04/12/2024 21:05

I have a boiling water tap but not Quooker (because of cost). I'd never be without one. I value convenience and counter space over cupboard space.

Iwontlethtesungodownonme · 04/12/2024 21:10

I have a quooker. Love it.

SiobhanSharpe · 04/12/2024 21:11

We have a cheaper version if the Quooker, it's called a Proboil (something like that.)
We too didn't have enough space for the quooker with fizzy water contraption/tank in the undersink cupboard it's really quite big so we thought we may as well go for the cheaper option.

But I'm more than happy with our boiling tap which filters the hot and cold water too. (We really don't drink much fizzy water although i might have a bottle in the fridge for visitors. We have a fridge which delivers an unending supply of filtered, chilled water and ice as required. It's great. )

LindaDawn · 04/12/2024 21:14

Decided not to get one in our new kitchen as just the 2 of us, felt it was too expensive and just one more thing to go wrong.

Sanch1 · 04/12/2024 21:19

We have a qettle so similar. It has chilled filtered as well as boiling and we use it all the time. Wouldn't miss it now! It does take up one side of the double 1200mm wide under sink unit though.

Lostmum1906 · 04/12/2024 21:19

I have quooker and cube and its fantastic, I wouldn't be without them. Chilled water at dinner , sparkling and instant hot water. I drink gallons of tea so it's useful

EasterIssland · 04/12/2024 21:22

My tea addicted husband is worried the tea won’t taste the same as with a kettle ??

Mostly just 2 of us.it's not an essential but I'm glad we got one. It's a qooker. Wish we'd gone for chilled water one too.
