Well I hate laundry goods in a kitchen! But if you have no other place for it (cupboard upstairs would make much more sense and I stole from a bedroom upstairs to do exactly this), but as for the Quooker question I couldn't be without mine. It's the most used appliance on the kitchen!

Unfortunately no space upstairs or utility room , I wished I had a bigger house! So have to compromise with washing in kitchen. That’s what we’ve had since we moved in here

The DW doesn't move from where it is now? It's just the sink moves up a bit. Do you want the sink to be closer to the DW or further away?

Sorry not sure im Understanding your suggestion

I’ve written to my designer to request not to put the tumble dryer in the room(we’ve got it in the garage at the moment so was something we wished we could do). That would give us 2 new spaces (the tumble dryer and the access to the corner)

thanks all for the help

Hate them. I worry a lot about someone accidentally releasing hot water on themselves.

They allege that the way they aerate the water coming out of the nozzle reduces the potential damage - plus, you have to get the 'click, click turn' just right or nothing comes out at all - it's not just a lever you press (my friend had one of those many years ago, and it was too easy to get boiling water on you with that)

We have them in my new office and it’s backed up my decision not to have one at home. It’s absolutely terrifying and we have instructions and warning signs to stop people from getting scalded plus the first aiders there have been given additional training for scalded skin because of it. Part of the induction includes how to use the tap safely.

i guess you get used to them in your home but it’s loud and scary to me.

You have to try very hard to use the Quooker incorrectly!

@EasterIssland I agree with PP, I'd find a way to stack the tumble drier and the washing machine - in a cupboard if they don't look nice!

But to have that corner space just empty is a real waste. And doesn't sound like you have a very good designer. Which company are you using?

I agree! The only problem we have had with ours is when visitors (adult) don't manage to turn it on because they don't know how to do the push-push-twist. Unless you are leaving your hand under there when the water comes on, I don't really know how injuries would occur. However, we only have the boiling water one so if people have the one which also does cold and fizzy water that may be more of an issue.

BIWI · 09/01/2025 12:24

... but having cold or fizzy water on your hands wouldn't hurt!

EasterIssland · 09/01/2025 12:31

Regarding the designer I don’t think she’s a bad one. She tried to put everything I requested which meant compromises had to be done and I’m one that hates corner cabinets (have one at the moment and I hate) so I didn’t mind. Maybe they should have said you can’t have it all. But at the end I had it all with a void space.

There are lots of ways of using a corner! A decent designer should have worked out what it is you don't like about your current cupboard and come up with a plan to make it work for you. Leaving a void in a small space just makes no sense at all!

Indeed, but perhaps people think they are getting cold water and inadvertently pour hot instead? As I said, I don't have a newer model so have no idea if that could even happen!

TizerorFizz · 09/01/2025 14:31

I would definitely stack the washer and dryer in a cupboard. That releases space for a storage cupboard with corner access.

Huckyfell · 09/01/2025 14:36

Once you have one you will never look back, they are amazing. We have one, not a Quooker - a cheaper version - but couldn't live without one now.

EasterIssland · 09/01/2025 19:27

Which tank do most of you have? Husband is saying combi +.

for a person that didn’t want it sounds like he’s fully convinced!

Once you have it you will use it for everything, combi+ gives the extra hot water so when using for boiling veg etc or entertaining it would probably be useful. Maybe a bit more than required but go for it if he is suggesting that also.

We had a new kitchen 1 year ago and decided against a Quooker tap because of various reasons: exhorbatant price (although we could easily afford it). However there are just the 2 of us and we don’t drink tons of tea and coffee.

TizerorFizz · 10/01/2025 10:29

Franke ones are much cheaper. The Quooker brand has cornered the market and people don’t shop around. Our Franke is just as good. The power of marketing works and the price reflects marketing costs. Any competent plumber can install a Franke one.
