I love mine! I don’t even like sparkling water normally but have only drank sparkling water since we got it! As above - it’s a bit of a knack to get the boiling water on so no way could you accidentally do that when running hot water as they are from separate controls!

Bluescissorsbluepen · 04/12/2024 21:28

we have 1 and I am extremely fussy about tea not made with boiling water, coffee shops who use the coffee thing don’t get my business. Definitely proper hot for tea.

also I have run my finger under it more than once because i am absent minded and while hot didn’t scald. They’re are instructions about how low to hold whatever underneath to avoid splashing, everyone else in the house does, I am, again, absent minded.

thought it was a gimic and we got it on sale now whenever someone is waiting for a kettle to boil I wonder how they can stand it.

I don't quite understand why the number of people in a household would make any difference?!

BearOnABlanket · 04/12/2024 20:34

I love mine. I have the fizzy water version. Tea, instant noodles, boiling water for pasta or whatever, never tempted to buy fizzy water - it's brilliant.

My eldest and my dad were scandalised and insist on calling it a 2k kettle, but I don't care. It's brilliant.

2k 😱

BIWI · 04/12/2024 23:30

I think that if we hadn't been having a lot of other expensive building work, I might have thought twice about a Quooker. They are very costly!

My tea addicted husband is worried the tea won’t taste the same as with a kettle ??

I don't have one but MIL has. I can honestly spot tea made from her Quooker tap a mile away. The first time she made me tea from it, I had no idea it wasn't from the kettle, but it just tasted strange. Nobody else seems to have a problem with it though, so maybe I'm just an awkward customer😆

mondaytosunday · 05/12/2024 00:42

Love mine and wouldn't be without it. I store all sorts under my sink and it fits. Tea tastes the same. It is just so convenient plus no need for a kettle to clutter up the place!
I also have one that is now going on for five years in a rental flat and have had no issues.

olderbutwiser · 05/12/2024 00:45

Yes yes yes! Love ours, it’s been in for 12 years now, only needed attention once.

WarmFrogPond · 05/12/2024 00:58

Thete are endless threads about this on here. Full of enthusiastic Quooker owners, and non-enthusiasts who’ve drunk tea made with them and find it disgusting. Whereupon the Quooker owners say their tea tastes fine and none of their fussy, tea-drinking friends ever complain, and the non-owners say that Quooker owners are so evangelical about their new gadget that it would be cruel to tell them their tea is gross.

fivebyfivebuffy · 05/12/2024 01:37

No comment on the brand but we had a boiling water thing at uni (not as posh!) and it was brilliant
Great for cooking as well as tea and coffee

Most threads feature people who disagree with each other about something. If you don't have an opinion on Quooker taps, just ignore those 'endless threads.' Pointless post.

I like to make my coffee at exactly 80 degrees. Would a Quooker be able to do that?

BearOnABlanket · 05/12/2024 06:22

No, a Quooker doesn't have a temperature thingy - you'd need one of the kettles that does still to do that.

In the cupboard, whilst yes, it is bigger than I realised, it takes up just under half a single width cupboard, so i still have my cleaning stuff in there.

Ndd1356387 · 05/12/2024 06:39

Yes yes yes. Cup of tea in an instant. Hot water for veg in an instant. No furred up kettle on the worktop. What’s not to like?

GoldenTea · 05/12/2024 06:58

Does the quooker filter the hot and cold water?

No, but there's Blanco Choice Icona that does. It has, I think, 3 or 4 programmable pre-sets it does absolutely everything fizzy, filter, hot, boiling, chilled and with a pull out spout. It costs an eye watering 2.5 K. - now if anyone has one of those, I'd love to hear their thoughts. I'm very tempted 🫣

Edited to add, I also wonder how many Bosch temperature kettles, one could buy over a couple of years for the cost of filters and services ....

We are getting a new tap for the kitchen hence why asking. I’ve been assigned a normal blanco tap which is nearly £400. The kettle we have (smeg) has already a few years hence why I thought if I push the budget a bit more (extra £600 or so) would it be worth it? As we will need to replace the kettle at some point

Ohh that's a good point, be interested in the answer to this!

It’s hardly pointless to point out to the OP that numerous long, detailed threads on this already exist, which she can read for more information as she decides, and that the same positions appear on each.

Why so sour? Did you get a cup of substandard Quooker tea?

HurdyGurdy19 · 05/12/2024 09:30

I wanted a Quooker, but by the time the building work had gone up by 50%, I just couldn't justify the cost.

We have a Smart Tap, which does 98⁰ hot water, and chilled. Wasn't interested in fizzy water. It's fine. I don't know if I'd notice the 2⁰ difference, but it makes my tea just fine, so I'm content with it 😊

TizerorFizz · 05/12/2024 09:38

We have a Franke boiling tap. I have a second sink in the kitchen so it’s not our only kitchen tank. Quooker is not the only brand and they were more money than the Franke.

Number of people using it matter. There’s not endless boiling water. It’s limited by size of tank. I like ours and my two taps match!

Wishitwasstraightforward · 05/12/2024 19:14

I have a Quettle. Absolutely love it. Instant tea, instant boiling water for pasta, rice, veg etc.. Instant top up of cold water for washing up, or blast of boiling water to soak baking trays.

It can be a little splashy but never so much that I get anything on my hands. As far as I can understand delivering boiling water from a tap (as opposed to pouring already boiled water from a spout) inevitably involves a small amount of spluttering.

ODFOx · 05/12/2024 19:17

We have a Qettle with a 4l tank and we'll never go back to a kettle.
As long as you get a brand that heats to 100 degrees it will be perfect for tea.

SausageinaBun · 05/12/2024 19:19

EmmyPankhurst · 04/12/2024 20:39

Hate them. I worry a lot about someone accidentally releasing hot water on themselves.

Have used a variety of brands in work place kitchens and maintain that view. The quooker in a recent airbnb was particularly splashy of boiling water.

It won't surprise you to know the I don't have one!

We have the hot and chilled version and won't let our youngest get herself chilled water because she could easily turn it on to hot instead. She prefers waitress service, so it's only annoying for me and DH.

hollyblueivy · 05/12/2024 19:24

What are the rough costs of something like this, sounds amazing
