I only have space for one. Have had neither previously. What would you choose? X

I all honesty, I wouldn't be without either! I love sparkling crockery and cutlery, and sheets and towels dried quickly and efficiently. I think I'd sacrifice a cupboard or something!

Dishwasher for sure. My landlord won't let us install a dishwasher but we do have a mini condenser dryer. I'd give it up for a dishwasher. No contest.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 29/10/2024 21:22

Small sink? Small kitchen? Dishwasher every time.

No space for airer/dehumidfier/garden access and a large sink? Tumble dryer.

I don't use the tumble dryer anywhere near as much as I do the dishwasher.

We have a very small kitchen and when we remodelled, I insisted we have a dishwasher. There are just the two of us now and I honestly wonder how we ever managed without one.
We have had washer/ dryers for over 30 years now and they were a godsend when the dcs were younger. Our current one is a John Lewis own brand and it is amazing. Huge capacitor both washing and drying. I only really need to do three loads a week now. They are very efficient compared to years ago and I've never had one damage the clothes.

Tumble dryer.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 29/10/2024 21:59

I had the same choice and went with the tumble drier. I can easily wash dishes, I can't easily dry clothes!

Dryer. I can't stand the house being covered in drying laundry.

It's easy enough to wash up as you cook so you don't end up with a huge stack at the end.

Yep! I miss a dishwasher but need my tumble dryer!

Dishwasher. Tumble dryers shrink clothes.

I have never shrunk clothes in my tumble. All done on low setting.

Thismummyrunstheshow · 29/10/2024 22:03

Similar position however we already have the dishwasher that I want to rip out and replace with a tumble dryer.

We currently have a washer/dryer that is quite honestly crap at drying clothes and I still have a clothes horse with a dehumidifier on the go. The problem with the washer/dryer is I am always behind on washing as I have to wait to tumble before doing another load. Been doing this for 5 years and detest it.

We probably use our dishwasher a handful of times a year (when I do a roast dinner!), I use the tumble everyday

LindaDawn · 29/10/2024 23:00

Definitely a tumble dryer!!

fridaynight1 · 29/10/2024 23:02

Team tumble dryer

GreengrassofW · 29/10/2024 23:08

Dishwasher
But..are you sure you can't have both?
Many Europeans put their washing machines/tumble in the bathroom/ or under the stairs.. Are there any other places it could go?

2025andbeyond · 29/10/2024 23:20

Dishwasher. Used daily.

Dishwasher

@Redlarge dishwasher.
It think tumble driers might become a thing of the past .
Get a Lakeland heated airer.
Best money spent . I made the decision when my drier broke I’d never purchase another none .

Driers ruin clothes and cost a fortune .
Heated airers also give a room a steady heat without using the heating . Can’t loose . 😊

They really don't. You can calculate usage, modern ones are very efficient.

£5 a week over the winter with heavy use, I tumble everything.

Copperoliverbear · 29/10/2024 23:38

Dishwasher and would have a small dryer even if I had to put it in a cupboard upstairs or something.

fussychica · 30/10/2024 08:20

Dishwasher everytime. I have a mini tumble dryer in the garage for emergencies, never use it.

I keep thinking this. But I'm thinking.... winter
... tumble dryer. Summer.... dishwasher. Both invaluable.

Dishwasher. I never use my tumble dryer. Dry outside in summer and use a clothes rack and dehumidifier in winter. A dishwasher is used daily and saves hours of time and money too.
