What do you make of this house?

I kind of like bits of it - the pink bannisters, beautiful cornicing/ceiling roses, amazing exterior, but other bits are a bit too much of a modern mishmash.

It's interior designed ( obviously), and the price for the area is very toppy.

Just wondering what anyone else thinks.

I think it's gorgeous, the only thing I don't like is how pink the hallway is, I'd want some of the blue or green there but that could be easily sorted. And it looks like they've kept or restored a lot of the period features. Can't comment on the price because where I live a house like that would be less than a million.

Doggymummar · 09/10/2024 17:54

Personally, I don't like marble. Other than that it's a beautiful house and is exactly how you should present your home for sales photos, clean tidy decluttered and staged.

Photo 2 shows the back of the house has been ruined by an ugly extension.

The trend to open up the back old old style houses with modern style fittings such as huge sliding or bifold doors is absolutely ghastly.

Oh I like the extension, as do many on the thread.

AlbertAvocado · 09/10/2024 18:02

I really dislike it but the floor plan is great so there's nothing that couldn't be changed. That said if they are similar properties cheaper I fail to understand why anyone would buy this 🤣

allmycats · 09/10/2024 18:14

I love it. Not all the paint colours but they can be changed. Good luck to the vendors.

pinklemonsparkle · 09/10/2024 18:20

@ComtesseDeSpair has it been very recently renovated? It looks so picture perfect! Do they actually have kids living there?

Personally I think they have ruined a rather lovely Edwardian house.

Ketzele · 09/10/2024 18:32

I really like it, and I like Forest Hill.

UserNameOfShame · 09/10/2024 18:36

It doesn't look real to me. Looks like an artists impression created by AI

Letsdoit123 · 09/10/2024 18:38

I personally wouldn’t spend that kind of money on a house, needind to spend more to change the bits and bops I don’t like, it would be all or nothing for me. Re decor, it’s not too bad but the different colours are a bit too much.

Bignanna · 09/10/2024 18:41

Quirky- I’d buy it, but would probably change the colours.

RaraRachael · 09/10/2024 18:50

Very staged looking as if nobody actually lives there. The blue bathroom made me feel queasy.

WonderingWanda · 09/10/2024 19:12

It's a nice house. Huge lots of original features with a modern extension. I don't really like the arched cupboards in the kitchen or the flat marble fire surround but they aren't especially offensive. The rest of the house has a lot of original features and it would look very different with different paint colours and furniture.

BunnyLake · 09/10/2024 19:12

It’s very specific to their tastes but I don’t hate it. Not really my style but there are aspects I like. I’d stay for a long weekend, it has a trendy hotel feel to it.

user2848502016 · 09/10/2024 19:12

I like it apart from the kitchen and bathrooms which is a shame because they're the expensive bits to replace.
With all their furniture taken out it's actually quite a blank canvas, I like the pink.

Windmillsofyourminds · 09/10/2024 19:17

I like it but do not believe it will sell for anywhere that much. I used to live in Forest Hill and houses as large as this are slow to sell and people with that much money will be looking at Dulwich, not Forest Hill.

Palatua · 09/10/2024 19:19

ComtesseDeSpair · 09/10/2024 16:15

Around the corner from me, I know the owners. I love it, but I’d say to their face that they’re going to struggle to sell it at that price. The ‘hood is nice but the market for properties of that size at that price when the Dulwiches are its rivals is very small.

I notice that there are not TVs visible. Do they not have one or have they just made sure theres not a tv in any pictures?

Owly11 · 09/10/2024 19:28

It makes me want to vomit.

BinkyBeaufort · 09/10/2024 19:43

Love the fact that it's quirky and individual without being outrageous or offensive. Most houses are SO boringly similar.
I love the colour of the kitchen and the bathrooms, and the layout.
The only thing I don't like is the price.

pambeesleyhalpert · 09/10/2024 19:46

Oh my gosh I love it. It's like a dollhouse!!! It's beautiful

Saz12 · 09/10/2024 19:48

I like it visually, eg if it was in a magazine picture.
But as an actual home to live in I get a purposeless feel - like I'd wander around bemused and saying "but why? What is it FOR"?

It's also very "done" and impersonal, like the owners have just gone to an interior designer and said "I like light, blue and pink, and soft curves. Unlimited budget, now go get on with it"

ballybooboo · 09/10/2024 20:01

Tabitha005 · 09/10/2024 16:25

I say, a pound to a pinch of shit that whoever buys it is going to rip out most of the fitted furniture, including the kitchen, and do something different. It looks like an edition of 'Living etc' by numbers. Not for me at all. Cold and impersonal and looks like a stage set.

Yes this is how it feels to me.
I had assumed a developer had created this using a paint by numbers template.

Some elements really work and obviously the bones of the house are beautiful, but I'm surprised Modern House took it on (the £££ I guess!)

BeatrizBoniface · 09/10/2024 20:04

I think it's gorgeous! I love the blue and green.
How lovely to see a house which isn't grey or beige.
People who actually have some style.

FelixtheAardvark · 09/10/2024 20:34

Not to my taste.

Viviennemary · 09/10/2024 20:36

It's very over extended at the back. It's ok but I'm not that keen on it.not for that price anyway.
