What do you make of this house?

I kind of like bits of it - the pink bannisters, beautiful cornicing/ceiling roses, amazing exterior, but other bits are a bit too much of a modern mishmash.

It's interior designed ( obviously), and the price for the area is very toppy.

Just wondering what anyone else thinks.

What's the point of the final photo?? And why focus on the slide/bed combo, that's not going to be left for the new owners surely.

Alicana · 09/10/2024 16:58

It’s too matchy matchy for me, it reminds me of a chain of bar/cafes. And it’s the wrong side of the river for that price!

pinklemonsparkle · 09/10/2024 16:58

Ha ha so totally marmite given opinions on here!

I did laugh at the random picture of the football goal in the last photo!

Would need a little redecorating to suit my taste (prefer cornicing to be white and the vivid blue bathroom is too much for me) but otherwise I think it’s gorgeous. The area has a low crime index and is handy for London. If I was looking for a property of that size had the money to hand would definitely shortlist it.

Itswaytooearlytobeawake · 09/10/2024 16:59

This is really near to where I live, the houses on this road are lovely although that's very much at the upper end for housing in Forest Hill.

BirthdeighParteigh · 09/10/2024 17:01

I like it. Great layout and proportions, and lots of character.

I would change the kitchen units.

Snowdrops17 · 09/10/2024 17:01

His I couldn't live there nothing flows together looks like random people picked random bits of furniture and decor some of it hurts my eyes

Choccyp1g · 09/10/2024 17:04

Plexie · 09/10/2024 16:54

I know the area and there's no way a house on that road (or indeed anywhere in Forest Hill) is worth £2.75m.

I like the decor but take away the furniture and you're just left with original plaster ceilings painted in pretty colours. They haven't even had the garden landscaped!

They should have landscaped the garden before building an extension right to the boundary on both sides.

Apart from that, I love it.

dobwrmkle · 09/10/2024 17:04

Love it but it's one where I would need to buy all the furniture as well as it is all designed to match perfectly and my Ikea sideboard would ruin the effect immediately!

Darkfloods · 09/10/2024 17:05

Really don’t like the curved kitchen cupboards and that fact they have carried that theme throughout the house. Some of it is nice.

Lulu1919 · 09/10/2024 17:08

I really like it !!

TemuSpecialBuy · 09/10/2024 17:09

GaladrielHiggins · 09/10/2024 16:47

For some reason it reminds me of a Wes Anderson movie set

Agreed
I kinda love it but that kitchen is an acquired taste would have to go.

More on that property on the designers' website:

Aahh @DogInATent you beat me to it!

Wentie · 09/10/2024 16:16

i absolutely hate the curved blue kitchen cabinets and the blue bath.

I think alot of the original features are beautiful. Alot of the style is furniture and could easily be removed or put back.

Yeah all the blue stuff is horrible.

Wolfpa · 09/10/2024 17:19

I would need to rip most of it out as soon as moving in but I learnt long ago that I have no taste. It is guaranteed that the thing I think I’d ugly on bargain hunt goes for a fortune.

Justcallmebebes · 09/10/2024 17:20

It's not my personal taste but I really like it. It has very clean lines and is bright and airy

TheDandyLion · 09/10/2024 17:21

Looks like a magazine and no-one lives there. I don't hate the colour I'm just not keen on pastels. I'd prefer more saturated colours. All the rounded semi circular furniture is a bit overkill and boring looking. Reminds me of top end Ikea to me. Love the blue radiators.

Dreambow · 09/10/2024 17:24

Love this house! Personally love the decor and it’s a good location!
Brought in 2022 for 1.8 million and prior to that brought in 2012 for 700k. London prices are insane!!
So if it sells at the asking price it has quadrupled in price in 12 years.

Jeezitneverends · 09/10/2024 17:27

Love it-when can I move in?

LetThereBeLove · 09/10/2024 17:34

Love it but the price is too much! I live in southwest London and am used to the stupid prices.

MichaelandKirk · 09/10/2024 17:37

On the other end of scale when I sold my late Father's house which was a tip, unmodernised and in a real state - basically untouched for over 50 years we were inunated with offers well over the asking price. Nice part of London btw.

People seem to love the fact they it had been untouched. They could do whatever they liked to it and of course the price reflected this.

Theonewhogotaway · 09/10/2024 17:42

I’ve surprised myself, I like the house but dislike how it’s decorated, particularly the pink banister, and the blue bathroom and kitchen, I’m not sure I could live with it, but if I could afford 3million I could fix it. However it’s not worth that kind of money.

Attelina · 09/10/2024 17:43

Photo 2 shows the back of the house has been ruined by an ugly extension.

The trend to open up the back old old style houses with modern style fittings such as huge sliding or bifold doors is absolutely ghastly.
