Are there any fans of Brutalism?

We are thinking about moving into a 1970s brutalist apartment. When we mention this to people or show photographs of the block, they recoil or comment how ugly it is.

We love it!

Oh I think I've found my people!

I've always had a weird love for large concrete tower blocks. When I was younger I made a friend drive me round some in London

What makes something 'brutalist'? Does is need to adhere to a specific look?

Would these have been considered brutalist?? I was gutted when they refurbished them and made them look all 'nice'!

Also can someone educate me on 'people will always need plates'? Is it from a film?
