How funny - I was just coming to say that I lived off of Hillside Crescent as a student and absolutely loved it (now I'm wondering if you're one of my old flatmates??) It's a cracking location and that flat is a great space for the price, plus you're no distance from the trams these days for access over to the West End. It's not 100% to my taste but it's all easily enough fixed.
And, to OP's point, the way I thought about it when I was selling my house (not especially neutral) was that either the neutralisation process would be cheap and easy to do, in which case buyers will likely be prepared to do it themselves and look past minor issues of taste, or it would be complicated and/or expensive, in which case I wasn't prepared to spend a heap of time and money removing things I liked from a house I was about to sell anyway. (House sold on the first weekend so really wasn't an issue anyway.)
