An airing cupboard
A utility room

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 01/12/2023 19:38

Decent double glazing. We've had two rooms done and it's cost a fortune.
A secret room. We used to rent a flat that had one - it was a room with no windows and shelves all round. It was brilliant, like an accessible attic - could see all your stuff on the shelves and there was room for the hoover and ironing board. It was surrounded by a long corridor with the other rooms off it (bedroom, lounge etc).

Downstairs loo, and a utility room, but mainly a downstairs loo.

MenopauseSucks · 01/12/2023 19:41

An unlimited supply of free gas 🔥

FLRT · 01/12/2023 19:46

some period features/character

Greenpeasnwham · 01/12/2023 19:56

A pantry and a boot room/gear store for camping/surf/snow gear. A snug (where I can hide or deposit the children).
just for balance, no damp, heating that works, windows that don’t leak and someone to clear up after our hairy beast dog.

OddBoots · 01/12/2023 20:04

Triple glazing and whole house MVHR.

bridgetjonesmassivepants · 01/12/2023 20:28

Barnowlsandblubells - you do realise that peacocks are the devil incarnate? We had a peacock, it would wake us up at sunrise with it's incredibly loud cawing. It would follow me around like a puppy. Then when it got to be a teenage peacock it started attacking me, flipping terrifying! I've still got the scars. Never again.

In order of priority -

An upstairs bathroom, or at very least a toilet (we have no where we can put one in). Yet downstairs we have a bathroom (with toilet) and a separate WC. Had no idea how annoying this would be...

Utility room

Proper hallway with space for lots of boots/shoes and coats.

Driveway and garage.

CountryCob · 01/12/2023 22:27

@bridgetjonesmassivepants did you have the peacock on its own? If you did it sounds like it just wanted hens. The only time our called was when the fox killed the hens.....

Cornflowers35 · 01/12/2023 22:32

@Pinkpinkpink15 ultimately nothing, but the position of other doors in the hallway and radiator make it a bit trickier.

I am in the lucky position of owning my home.

I'm just gradually updating/ fixing things.

Next job is new microchipped cat flap for DCats.

What about you?

Zoraflora · 01/12/2023 22:34

A dishwasher
Utility room
More sockets
Sound proofing

BertieBotts · 01/12/2023 22:34

I want a decorated bedroom and I want to repaint the hallway because it looks dingy.

I also would love automatic better heating. We have a very leaky kitchen window and no door on the kitchen so we just heat rooms we can close the doors on!

Cowsontheloose · 01/12/2023 22:39

Cornflowers35 · 30/11/2023 23:13

I'd love a door in the hallway, so in the winter it'll stop the house getting cold when the front door is opened.

This is exactly what I want, although all the open plan means the heat disappears upstairs and it never gets warm

Mischance · 01/12/2023 22:49

Conservatory - I love light - it lifts my mood.

Sharpkat · 01/12/2023 22:50

Central heating please.

bridgetjonesmassivepants · 01/12/2023 22:51

Countrycob - we did have a hen but she flew off one day and never came back. £250 just flying off into the distance. Think she found the peacock annoying as well!

MrsNK28 · 01/12/2023 23:28

Walk in wardrobe
utility room
study
bigger bathroom
Bigger guest room (now guest in a box room)
and an insulated basement to put all my crap there

JimnJoyce · 01/12/2023 23:53

A dishwasher
Outside space

Geppili · 02/12/2023 00:20

A futility room.

@Cornflowers35

if I started making a list, we'd still be here next year!!!

this place was supposed to be a flip, but life happened & happened & happened ... then Covid happened & life happened... & on it goes.

i was doing well with the renovations, doing them myself, but one if the life events was me losing a lot of the use of one arm, a lack of balance, strength and having vertigo. Independently my knees have decided to give up on me & I can't kneel anymore, or get on/off the floor, so it's put an end to me doing the work myself and now trades are SO expensive & hard to book in....

lots of other issues too, but hoping to get a decorator in the New Year to get a few rooms finished. A new front door and the kitchen done.

MuckyPlucky · 02/12/2023 10:45
  • Insulation
  • Windows which aren’t broken & let in drafts.
  • My bedroom to have a window I can see out of.
  • Underlay under the thin cheap carpet.
  • Underpinning so the huge cracks stop getting bigger.
  • Laminate ripped up in dining room.
  • Somewhere for me to sit down when the kids are dominating the living room.
  • Sun in my little garden rather than shadow.
  • Somewhere to park my car.
  • A deep clean.
  • Fewer slugs in kitchen.
  • A comfy chair so I don’t have to sit on a deckchair in the evenings.
  • A non-broken coffee table.
  • New bathroom without broken shower & mould.

That said, my home might be awful and poor, but I’m surrounded by lovely neighbours who have become good friends, so I try to count my blessings each day.
