Cleaner sprayed the flatscreen TV....

Iamnotastick · 04/10/2023 15:10

Help!

Cleaner has used a product to clean the flatscreen TV and now there are streaks that a microfibre cloth cannot budge off.

How do I fix this?! Husband is going to go fucking spare, its his pride and joy.

Fancy dissecting the OPs relationship from how upset her OH gets about the flatscreen being damaged.

😫🤔

I think what stood out for me was op fretting she'd need to fix it before he got angry. Dh's pride and joy so I'd leave it to him to notice, him tell the cleaner about what to do in future and him to investigate how to fix it.

I mean, this is the lesson isnt it? Not to make a whole assumption on a situation based on one post.

Maybe. 😆That's such a detached view. Makes me laugh tbh.

Like you live in world where you see that expensive damaged thing in your home before your OH and not even respond to it. Tra la la.

Probably repeating some MN mantra like " your monkeys your circus...." Wow.

God alive people are different.

Right?!

God forbid I wanted to see if I could fix it or at least have some handy suggestions for when we discussed it. Its my TV too!

This happened to us years ago, we couldn't correct it. I find glass cloths (for glasses) are the kindest on these types of screens.

Also my lovely, kind DH loves his media equipment too. It's no crime to appreciate what you have

Nope, DH fixed it. Then, as usual, he cooked dinner, tidied up, hung the laundry up and did the night shift when our autistic toddler had a split night.

Hes such a bastard,

Weird. Property is usually a really kind and helpful board so I’m a bit nonplussed at the dickish replies. Maybe this post ended up in Trending or something?!

My DP is sweet, kind, and gentle - but he would also go fucking spare if the TV was seemingly damaged. It’s just a turn of phrase that means really cross - doesn’t mean he’d be cross AT the OP ? 🤷‍♀️

Also, just like OP, we have autistic DC, one with high needs. It’s extremely difficult to get out, either as a family or as a couple. Subsequently our TV plays a big part in family life - we watch live sport together, have family movie nights, and DP plays games with DS (something that he adores).

Sometimes the fact that a TV is important isn’t a sign of a dysfunctional, disengaged family who don’t cultivate any interests. We’d be gutted if ours broke, and it would directly affect the quality of our family life.

OP, I’m so glad your DH fixed it - how did he do it?

What did he do to fix it? Might be useful info.

Iamnotastick · 07/10/2023 13:25

Thanks all!

He used a completely new microfibre cloth that was barely damp to buff in circular motions and then used another new glasses cloth dry to gently wipe up and down.

Noted that should never use a cleaner that has alcohol, benzene, ammonia, or acetone as this destroys the antiglare coating on the screen. DH will ask cleaner to just skip the TV next time!

Lots of patience right there. Ty, would love one of those tellies me. One day!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 07/10/2023 17:13

Glad it's sorted now OP
And I understand how important a Tv is
I'm disabled and my TV is an important part of my day

Fynoderee · 07/10/2023 20:28

Your cleaner should make a claim on their public liability insurance
