Ooh yes, I love it! Its a nice change from all the Victorian/Edwardian terraces/high ceilings/cornicing/tasteful sash windows etc. .

When do you think it was built?

AfterTheRainComesSun · 07/09/2023 16:38

@LaRevolution I love period homes so maybe that's why I cannot see the beauty of it (inside it's beautiful though, except the bathroom).
It was built in the 60s

Personally I wouldn't. There is only so much dickying up you could do to the outside and you could make it fab. Change door colour, tidy the bit of the garden you have, blinds on windows or nicer hung curtains but maybe I'm a snob but I couldn't get past the way the neighbouring houses look.

WinterCarlisle · 07/09/2023 16:41

My friend lived in a span house in SE London and it was lovely! Really well built and had a clean airy feel to it. I don’t know Weybridge so can’t comment on the area.

AfterTheRainComesSun · 07/09/2023 16:42

@WinterCarlisle it's a very posh part of Surrey, no way of getting 3 bed with that budget for other types of houses - why are they so much cheaper though?

The wall between it and the house next door looks a bit thin, so I'd want to know more about the construction / materials, but personally I think it looks great inside and out.

Shudacudawuda · 07/09/2023 16:43

I like it, it's quirky. I wish we had more unusual styles like that in the UK, most houses are so boring.

Solonomi · 07/09/2023 16:44

I love it, loads of light from the big windows!

Sinead4ever · 07/09/2023 16:45

I like it - i think front door could be nicer

Probably that much cheaper as it looks like student accommodation. I couldn't get past the exterior look (and I also dislike the interior)

Possibly because you are not allowed to do anything with it without permission and there are ongoing costs involved

I love the interior. I could cope with the exterior. Putting an oven next to uPVC does not seem sensible.

Am I the only one who can't see the link? Is it in Weymede?

Huh? There's a first time for everything. What makes you say that about the party wall?

KievLoverTwo · 07/09/2023 16:53

Btw, the last suspiciously cheap property I came across was of non standard construction, which was at least listed in the advert (albeit, type was not given).

Very hard to get a mortgage on. I don't know architecture well enough to tell if this fits in that bracket.

Weybridge is posh in parts, snobby in some and kind of normal in others. As well as some huge houses (St Georges) owned by the rich and infamous (Max Clifford, Cliff RIchard kind of folk) there are also streets of little terraced houses. I personally dislike it but many people seem to want to live there.

That house looks like a row of ex social housing properties made into one house from the outside.

PetalLeaves · 07/09/2023 16:53

Funny enough, I’ve been to this exact place before visiting friends and these homes are really lovely and the area is really nice with lovely green spaces. I would’ve had the same concerns as you just from seeing photos, but they are actually nice and I would definitely go for it. They get lots of light!

UnwantedOpinionBelow · 07/09/2023 16:53

I really dislike the outside as well so no, would not buy.

The problem in some areas would be if chavs liked to congregate in the street or piss in your garden or something, the house just seems totally exposed to the street, but in a nice area it would have a good vibe and you could have the doors/windows open in summer, very nice, but the price is LOL ridiculous for this house so no I wouldn`t buy it.

NotYourHolidayDick · 07/09/2023 16:56

God Jesus and everything holy, fuck no. It's worse than grim. The oven position <shudder>

Embarrassednamechangeadoddle · 07/09/2023 16:56

I couldn’t cope with those weird angles. I’d need rooms to be square. I can see the right people with the right taste would love this home and make it match with their tastes. I like big standard…I’m bland.

fiddlesticksandotherwords · 07/09/2023 16:56

I actually quite like it, but it does give off vibes of my old secondary school building! What would put me off though, is if the roof is as flat as it looks in the photos.

Coral569 · 07/09/2023 17:00

The price seems insane to me! But obviously it's down to the area and I assume it's quite sought after? I actually don't mind the exterior, it's very different. But I wonder if the pictures of the inside are making it look better than it actually is? They've furnished it quite well and I can imagine it looking a bit naff once it's all removed.

LubaLuca · 07/09/2023 17:01

I like it, it reminds me of somewhere I used to live within a university's grounds that was built for its staff.

Coral569 · 07/09/2023 17:01

Just seen Monumental's link to nearby property and I think the exterior looks worse in that photo actually.
