I love it (except the front door). But then I’m an architect.

CrackedChina · 07/09/2023 22:29

I like 60s and 70s houses so it's a yes from me.

SarahAndQuack · 07/09/2023 22:30

I wouldn't myself, because it looks like a heat trap - it's an awful lot of glass. The current owners have styled it very nicely, and I'm sure some people would love the outside (personally, I don't). But for me the big issue would be thinking how scorching hot it'd be.

MaidOfSteel · 07/09/2023 22:31

How very 1960s! I kind of like it.

Footle · 08/09/2023 07:04

@AuntieDolly , I can't see it either. On phone app.

dewclaw · 08/09/2023 07:58

I like the outside but not the interior and would also worry about the heat in summer with so much glass.

FurierTransform · 08/09/2023 08:31

Personally I wouldn't. I quite like the more traditional 1960s style houses with big windows etc, but those edgy 60s/70s builds are too whack

CrackedChina · 08/09/2023 09:49

That's quite depressing that some people avoid houses with decent light in case it's 'too hot in summer'. There are so many variables; direction each room is facing, quality of the glass etc. My house is mostly glass and I love it.

TooManyClouds · 08/09/2023 10:38

Yes, light is one of the main plus points! Usually if people's houses are too hot in the British climate it's because they do silly things like opening windows during the day rather than the evening/ night.

OP I think it looks great!

It’s ~30 degrees in the SE today. Opening and closing windows at the right time is not enough to keep most properties cool in these temperatures.

TooManyClouds · 08/09/2023 10:48

In 30 degrees? Of course it is! Unless maybe you like in a flat and have a lot of heat rising up from below.

CattingAbout · 08/09/2023 10:52

The fact it's on a private development where decisions are made by a managenent committee (and I assume there are also maintenance charges for the communal areas) would make it a no from me.

housethatbuiltme · 08/09/2023 11:00

All the windows like that make it look like our old school.

I live in a mid terrace. Was still 29 in my bedroom at midnight last night despite doing all the right things.

Reallybadidea · 08/09/2023 12:17

Seems like a bit of a Marmite house! I absolutely love both this house and the other one linked to nearby.

I think 60s/70s architecture has a bad rep and I used to hate it myself. Now I'm starting to appreciate the thought that went into the design. The ones that have been maintained and cared for exude a sense of excitement and optimism in the future (as it was then!) And they are definitely 'period' houses now, which makes me feel old!

MNers are weirdly obsessed with heat though. A sunny day brings out hysterics.

Herecomesthemoon · 08/09/2023 12:46

I like it. It's better than most 60s houses and very cheap for Weybridge.

dollybird · 08/09/2023 16:25

Thank you aloneagaingreat

I like the inside, but the outside reminds me of a school building

Whammyyammy · 08/09/2023 16:43

Imagine how much the window cleaner would charge...

StarbucksSmarterSister · 08/09/2023 23:03

Looks like a Span house. They are fab, light, airy and lovely block flooring. You could make it fantastic.

The angled walls would put me off a bit though.

AfterTheRainComesSun · 09/09/2023 20:52

You’d think that a warm house is a plus in the UK given you only get 2 weeks of decent warm weather each year!

But it will be cold in winter and warm in summer, won't it, with all that glass?

whyisitallsohard · 09/09/2023 21:00

it has a box room that's trying to pass as a bedroom and demanding £535k. no thanks.

AfterTheRainComesSun · 09/09/2023 21:48

@whyisitallsohard price is very cheap for this area

I really like it. The ground y around it sound pretty amazing too.
