I think it looks lovely. It is better than that awful bare look new houses have.

cruffinsmuffin · 26/08/2023 20:06

I mean it's from 2007 so I'd barely call that a new build in my mind! Plenty of time for ivy to grow. I'd be worried about my brickwork!

I call anything under thirty years old a new build cos they all look the same to me.

Exactly.

Have a look at the street view, it's even worse.

I quite like the ivy! But why do people not get appliances built in? That washing machine ruins the look of the whole kitchen!

TammyJones · 26/08/2023 20:10

First thing we did was remove it
It was so round the door - full of bugs and worse ....

Shadowchaser · 26/08/2023 20:12

I really like it! Would love to cover up my ugly house 😄

@Leovaldie we didn’t get built in appliances because the sizes were too small. We have 3 kids and big dogs so needed huge ones. Built in looks so much better I agree!

cruffinsmuffin · 26/08/2023 20:13

@KievLoverTwo I'm 30, so to me that seems like an old build 😂 I guess it's all relative!

Just seen the street view 😬 it looks like a mini jungle! Must be dark in those rooms surely?

Hecate01 · 26/08/2023 20:14

I'd never open my windows because I'd be scared of what creepy crawlies are living in there 🙈

TammyJones · 26/08/2023 20:15

That street view - someone didn't like gardening very much.

RoyKentsTieDyeTop · 26/08/2023 20:15

I can’t work out the point of that mezzanine/staircase. It’s just there taking up two floors of space.

IWillNoLie · 26/08/2023 20:18

Looks more like Virginia creeper than ivy. Virginia creeper is nowhere near as damaging as ivy.

WolfFoxHare · 26/08/2023 20:18

Yeah that mezzanine conservatory thing is very weird! Is that original?! And I reckon that big bedroom on the first floor used to be two rooms. I’d rip that spiral staircase/mezzanine out and try to turn that into an en-suite for the big bedroom.

MsCunk · 26/08/2023 20:19

It takes ages to train ivy, though. Thick as mince.

Ah!

Maybe they're not as wreckless as I originally thought.

Not ivy though

IWillNoLie · 26/08/2023 20:24

Still getting out of control and looks like it is getting under the rafters.

They have another out of control creeper collapsing a rotten decking thing in the back garden too,

You are probably too young for this, but it reminds me of fraggles on the street view.

I don’t think so. It looks like an addition above the garage. It looks odd from behind.

Strange decisions were made.

I thought Virginia creeper was worse than Ivy?

It does look nicer than most standard new builds but it needs cutting back significantly from the windows etc.

I'm v confused by the multiple staircases.

Callisto1 · 26/08/2023 20:29

I actually really like the look. But I agree that the creeper needs to be cut back from the guttering and roof. My mum has it growing over a pergola and half the house and it gives really nice shade. It is a bit messy and attracts wasps, but maybe not such a problem here in the UK.

Tilep · 26/08/2023 20:36

I think it looks nice.

Yeah I reckon you’re right. Annoyingly the other house of the ‘link’ looks like a completely different plan so no way to see what this one originally looked like.

We have an attached garage and our bedroom is above the room to which it’s attached - tempted to persuade DH we need a conservatory-spiral staircase-mezzanine-“study space” of our very own. I’m sure it’d add loads of value!

ItsMyUkelele · 26/08/2023 20:42

I like it!

WolfFoxHare · 26/08/2023 20:42

I think I should add that I do quite like the house, weird layout and creeper aside. It looks like it’s on a nice road and it’s pretty cheap!

GeraldTheGoodMouse · 26/08/2023 20:44

I'm pretty sure it is.
