Anyone out there searching and want to join me before my DH kills me for talking about the topic too much 😔how is everyone doing? We have a viewing on Saturday but we keep getting outbid or a builder buys the property.

I'm in the SW, searching 6 months. How long has everyone else been at it?

@Beehavewillyou

You’re in a whole different price bracket to us! But, it’s a buyers market. I don’t think any offer is a silly offer. They can only say no. How long has it been on for? Ask the agents if they have had any other offers and how much interest.

poppym12 · 27/05/2023 22:12

We've viewed 7 properties today. Glad I took a pen and paper.

Now going round in circles having ruled out 4 whilst trying to decide on the top 3 order. Each one has good and bad points, neither is quite perfect.

@poppym12

Your head must be scrambled! That’s a lot to take in! I’m a fan of a comparison chart. Location, distance to important places, size of rooms, number of rooms, is it a dining kitchen, amount of work needed etc

I laughed at first when my husband made a spreadsheet. I'm glad he did Grin

How is everyone? I'm waiting with baited breath to hear back on an offer today. I'm a bit worn out with it all as too much other stuff going on.

We are in the same boat @Dinkler been over 24hours now… we did put in a low offer, do people sometimes just ignore if it’s too low? Surely just say no?

The raise in mortgage rates must be hurting the market and people are losing confidence. I’m just not sure how realistic some sellers are being.

Ours was a bit low too, but still fair I feel as I have researched the area over and over but who knows at the end of the day as it all feels arbitrary sometimes. They should reply but some will keep it for further viewings to push others up in my experience although they could be at work, good luck!!

Good luck to you @Dinkler

We offered them what an identical house sold at in summer 21, so definitely feel it’s a good price all things considered.

The EA was all ‘they have an asking price offer but haven’t accepted yet’ 😂 Anyone not accepting asking price in this market needs their head wobbled. I say that as someone who has recently sold!

mnahmnah · 30/05/2023 21:13

We’re away this week. A welcome break from house hunting, but at the same time it’s stalling the process! We’re home on Friday then have three viewings Saturday morning. Hopefully a house will be found!!

GettingStuffed · 30/05/2023 21:20

We have a house subject to probate for sale, when it sells we'll be cash buyers and I'm looking ahead to where we have decided to move to. Although there's a number of houses on the market there's something not quite right with them . My pet peeve is shower rooms and no alternative bathroom. I don't really like showers.
I have found one that meets our requirements including location but I'm now worrying that it will be sold before we can sell the house.

Tootootoot · 30/05/2023 21:29

In 3 weeks we're travelling to the area where we intend to move in order to start doing viewings. I want to ring up and book in for the most likely houses but it seems like too far in advance. I hope our favourites are still on the market and don't go under offer in the next few weeks!

poppym12 · 31/05/2023 09:28

We're travelling down this afternoon for a second viewing on one of the 7 we saw on Saturday.

I like it but there's a few things I need to check before we put an offer in. Also concerned that the vendor has only been there for just over a year and apparently they want to move back to a house so is there a privacy/noise issue?

Good luck to those of you waiting to hear back.

We've offered asking on 3 so far and not successful (in a heavily reduced area!), it's so draining!!

Waiting to hear back today!

Same as me, I love a bath, although heaving my lardy self is another matter. 😅

Still no word this end!

@Dinkler thats crazy! I do think a lot of sellers need to readjust their expectations.

I wonder if all the market changes around interest rates and products being pulled are spooking everyone further?

Dinkler · 31/05/2023 15:41

Ugh I'm really frustrated, we had a reply from the vendor yesterday, asked to increase offer which we were expecting and we did. Now today we are told the vendor is on holiday. Really. Does no-one take mobile phones on holiday?

OP posts:
poppym12 · 31/05/2023 15:44

That's really annoying @Dinkler. Pretty sure if you kept increasing to whatever inflated price they want that they'd answer the phone Angry

User63847484848 · 31/05/2023 15:45

I’m refreshing Rightmove too but for the opposite reason to see if our house is up yet!

If anyone is searching east Hampshire/Surrey/west sussex border let me know! We’re on the main line to a london waterloo and semi rural! 😬

Dinkler · 31/05/2023 15:45

Do I withdraw, I can't bear to go through this again, waiting and waiting only to be pushed up when we've offered a great offer.

I know, I'm so fed up of these tactics. It's so obvious that they are now using it as leverage. I refuse to enter a bidding war.

Depends how much you want it. Is it perfect for you? I'd probably withdraw my offer in temper!

We do love it but I can't do this to my partner as he's ill and it's just too stressful.

@Dinkler thats ridiculous they need to just make a decision. I would tell them they have until x time to make a decision and then you’ll walk.

We have had our offer rejected 🙅‍♀️ we can’t go any higher so that’s that. Just annoying they made us wait so long!

We’ve been under offer for 6 weeks and still no closer to finding what we want and moving! Very frustrating!
