A semi detached 5 minutes walk away.
We bought a detached because the neighbour noise seriously affected my MH.
Gutted, we’d be almost mortgage free if we’d had thicker walls.

Rental about 800m away. Sold our house we'd rented out in a different city and bought in current area. Never leaving!

Hellocatshome · 26/04/2023 00:07

2 bed semi detached ex council house about 5 miles from where we live now,.needed to move for another bedroom but now we are terraced rather than semi.

DramaAlpaca · 26/04/2023 00:10

We rented a house about a mile away while our current house was being built.

Peanutbutteryday · 26/04/2023 02:28

A flat about 5 min walk away. Sold to upsize.

HowManySunflowers · 26/04/2023 02:30

This is the second property we've owned, so the one before this one was the first. It was about an hour's drive away.

Jackienory · 26/04/2023 02:31

In the USA on work contract.

MinnieMountain · 26/04/2023 07:32

Heroicallyfound · 26/04/2023 07:34

I moved about 100 miles from my childhood home when I married , and then we moved just under 300 miles 10 years later. Have basically moved from South West to South east , to now North West.

shiningcuckoo · 26/04/2023 07:43

A large contemporary house on 8 acres. Had cows, sheep, a goat, chickens, 2 dogs, cats galore and a Mountain View. An hour to the nearest supermarket and the doctors. This was before separation and divorce. The only animals now are 2 cats.

Lucky escape, did you end up in Brentford?

mamatoTails · 26/04/2023 09:15

In a house in south west England, now we live abroad.

Franklin2000 · 26/04/2023 09:18

A semi 10 miles away. We moved for a better area and schools when DS was little. And current house is better also!

No - but I worked there years ago. I've lived a life of true quality eh? 🤣

kingofchaos · 26/04/2023 10:33

A 3 bed maisonette about 3 streets away.

instantpotnoodle · 26/04/2023 10:33

4 bed terrace 250 miles away

LibertyLily · 26/04/2023 13:19

A 4 bed detached Victorian house in a village on the edge of a city just over 100 miles away. We'd bought it three years previously (the previous -Georgian - house we owned was 150 miles from that).

Moved to be somewhere more rural with a bit more land and also to downsize, so in 2018 we purchased a large 2 bed detached property that's 400 years old.

Hugely regret the decision and hope to sell soon.

EmpressSoleil · 26/04/2023 13:28

I'm in social housing and I used to live in Harpenden, which is often touted on here as a good place to move to. Maybe it is if you can afford to drop a couple of mill on one of the nice houses there. Not so much when you live in a grotty council house on the edge of the village!

I did an exchange to a lovely victorian place in zone 2 in London (moved for work mainly). Best thing I ever did. Love the house, love the area. Been here nearly 20 years now. Never been back to harpenden!

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 26/04/2023 13:29

Other side of the same neighbourhood, same footprint but bigger plot and masses of scope for extending which is rare round here. And better location.

travelingtortoise · 26/04/2023 13:37

On a sailing boat in Morocco.

Isseywith3witchycats · 26/04/2023 18:15

rented 3 bed semi one street away circumstances came together that we could buy the current two bed semi cash so now mortgage free only two of us so smaller house is still big enough for us and though only one street difference couldnt afford to buy in the street we lived in, but a good part of our town to live in

Notellinganyone · 26/04/2023 18:19

Terraced house in London which we sold for 290 k and is now worth 900k.
