Northernlass1234 · 23/03/2023 21:23

Background: elderly lady 70s, lives alone, rarely goes out, has two adult sons, one nice, one not - we were previously friendly but had loft extension and neighbour got very upset about lots of things - that was two years ago and i thought things were de-frosting

anyway she texted saying she was repairing fence post but got home from work to find this - see pic.

anything i can do as she clearly did this to wind me up?

Don't delete the fence post, she might replace it and you will hate it!

@Northernlass1234 This would drive me mad too! It sticks out like a sore thumb.... perhaps you could paint all your side a nice uniform colour..?
(My neighbour replaced all her panels except 1 which was covered in Ivy and has now spread..... I really wish people would replace the whole lot if they're going to do it!)

Sugargliderwombat · 23/03/2023 23:06

Op It would drive me mad too haha, if would make me twitch looking at it.

Spectre8 · 23/03/2023 23:09

I had this with my neighbour, I then had my garden landscaped, neighbours fence had rotting posts and the thing almost came down in winter. I offered to pay half to replace it since they would need to replace it anyway, but they wanted me to pay for it all so they basically get a free fence (cheeky sods) ..sod that I stuck up my own fence infront of theirs and painted it so all my sides are uniform. Meaning I have total control and never have to deal with them again

oakleaffy · 23/03/2023 23:13

This is fine.
I get on fine with my neighbours, {and long may this continue} and they replaced a couple of panels ..Bright like this.
They have weathered down now.

NO one would spam money and go too the trouble of replacing a panel to 'Wind you up''.

oakleaffy · 23/03/2023 23:14

Edit ''Spaff''....not spam , bloody predictive!..also ''to'', not too.

HangerLaneGyratorySystem · 23/03/2023 23:15

I don't understand, can anyone explain? Is it the OP's fence?

Does anyone know?

Does anyone actually care?

TheHouseElf · 23/03/2023 23:20

The wood will weather in quick enough. Had 2 panels damaged in a storm and replaced by the neighbours last year and they're barely any different now than the older ones. Think you are making something out of nothing here, and indeed you do need to calm down.

At last!!! Someone who sees it like i do!

But the point is , it's their fence and it's a new panel, unless you offer to alter it, then yes I can understand your perspectives

QueenCamilla · 23/03/2023 23:28

Do I need 3D glasses for that photo?

LocSeeTan · 23/03/2023 23:30

How fortunate you are to have a considerate neighbour that replaced a fence panel with one exactly like the others( I worked for a landscaping business for many years)
I think you need to treat the existing panels with preservative paint as your have been neglected for many years hence why your kindly neighbour took it upon herself to replace a rotten panel.

😂😂😂

MsFogi · 23/03/2023 23:36

The only issue I see here is that you don't have hedgehog highway holes at the bottom of the new panel (or the old ones) - please do cut them this weekend!!!

MysteryBelle · 23/03/2023 23:38

It’s a new panel so of course it hasn’t weathered yet like the old ones.

If you would falsely present this in front of our very eyes, then I side with neighbors on all their dealings with you.

cupofteaandabiccyplease · 23/03/2023 23:40

OP was asking how to delete her post, I think she means thread, if that's correct why would mnhq do that and on what grounds.

QueenCamilla · 23/03/2023 23:40

I need that photo filter for my face. No one will be able to tell what's grey and weathered and what's a new panel 😂

neilyoungismyhero · 23/03/2023 23:44

User4301 · 23/03/2023 21:37

How can you? It's the same style but one is weathered the new one isn't.

If I needed to replace a fence panel I wouldn't be buying an orange panel like that.

LocSeeTan · 23/03/2023 23:49

The new panels are usually orange . People tent to paint then in their colour of choice

NicLondon1 · 23/03/2023 23:50

Guys, it is a completely different colour…!!
No amount of weathering will blend that in . It looks like Donald Trump has spray tanned it.

Floralnomad · 23/03/2023 23:59

Nobody would replace several fence panels if only one was broken just to keep them all the same colour , it would be ridiculous , expensive and wasteful .

Lifeomars · 24/03/2023 00:08

Try living next door to the neighbours I have on the other side of a shared entry, they don't even have a fence, they have a yard filled with scrap and other sundry items that they scavenge, they are very noisy, have BBQs even in the depths of winter that fill the air with stinking smoke, they block the communal entry with rubbish and are verbally abusive when I ask them to keep the noise down. I have had to install a high fence so that I do not have to look at the rubbish in their yard. I would love to have a neighbour who looked after their property

AnyaMarx · 24/03/2023 00:15

You cannot buy weathered fence panels - just paint the fence your side .

I am not seeing the issue . She's replaced a panel . If you don't like the colour - paint it .
