OMAZE house

So, I'm thinking of entering this competion. Clearly as much chance of winning as me getting an Olympic gold medal, but I keep reading that these 'amazing' houses have issues. Eg one has been massively flooded and another is so close to the cliff edge that it might be uninsurable and when it falls the owners will have a massive clear up bill. The current one is in Finsbury Park and I've even been sad enough to streetview it. Can't see any obvious issues, so why is it an OMAZE house? Please enlighten me!

Found it.

Derby Road, Victoria Park, Hackney.

For sale with Hamptons - previously?
https://www.hamptons.co.uk/properties/18501446/sales/A1N8D000000I5RYAAQ#/

For that price you'd think the agents would have taken more care with the listing. Half of the photos are duplicates and some of them are of radiators or a rubber plant in a bricked up fireplace.

@PriamFarrl I think your link is to the Chelsea house that was won a while ago. This one is in Hackney.

Low epcfor a Reno

SD25 · 26/06/2024 12:54

The Hackney one definitely looks like a converted warehouse. Slight office vibes.

As a previous poster has pointed out, Omaze have said they do not run credit checks. They do not check to see if potential winners can afford the house. They do, however, run extensive eligibility and proof of identity checks before entering into the conveyancing process.

New Cornwall one looks huge

Will never buy purchase from them again. They took my money from PayPal & gave no tickets or email confirmation. They didn't even ask for contact confirmation. Absolute scam

I've entered various Omaze draws and I too use PayPal.

When I click on the "Enter now" button and choose "Single entry" there are fields for contact details to be filled in, including email address.

And I get a "Thank you for your order" message by email every time

Are you sure you entered via the genuine Omaze site?

ShyMaryEllen · 22/07/2024 11:55

My entries are all recorded in the My Account section of the website.

I may come to eat my words, but I do feel that Omaze suffers from more suspicion than it deserves. Yes, the chances of winning are remote, but the ROI is great, and you get the chance to fantasise about living in a different house each month. I don't know why so many people take against it.

downtonupton · 22/07/2024 12:03

I bought. a ticket for the London house and it is not showing in the My Account section, but I do have email confirmation.

Nellieinthebarn · 22/07/2024 12:36

I buy a ticket now and again, then spend happy hours on Rightmove choosing the house I will buy when I sell it, and plan how much will go to which charities, and spend time pondering if I should do a trust and donate the proceeds of investments or just make outright gifts. I portion out sums to my kids, and step kids, and wider family. I know I probably wont win, but I get a lot of entertainment out of my tenner.

BoogieWonderlandfibbed · 22/07/2024 16:42

Anyone know anything about this house?

martinisforeveryone · 22/07/2024 17:24

Scroll back up the thread @BoogieWonderlandfibbed there are quite a few posts about it.

@Nellieinthebarn I do exactly the same and also spend ages looking over floor plans 😁

BoogieWonderlandfibbed · 22/07/2024 17:33

@martinisforeveryone can see loads for London but not Cornwall one?

BoogieWonderlandfibbed · 22/07/2024 19:13

@martinisforeveryone thankyou had managed to miss that thread!

Just found pictures of the new london house on reddit! How much do we think the London Omaze house will sell for ? They say it's worth £5 million but I think it's around £4.3 - 4.5m : r/london (reddit.com)

The house isnt worth 5 million at all, much more sensible to sell at 4.5 especially with all the doo das and the electronic whatnots!

Edited

If I won it I'd be quite happy to take £3m and be shot of it 🤣🤣🤣

Nellieinthebarn · 29/07/2024 13:57

Me too, 3mil is more than enough.
