Finger parquet yea or nay

I know herringbone-style wooden flooring is a classic but it seems to be everywhere at the moment so as an alternative what's the general view of finger parquet (like this)? Is it the next big thing or a bit too reminiscent of doing gym in the school hall? 😁

Hi OP, we have this in our 70’s house too and really need to clean it up - how long did it take, and did you do it yourselves? Plus, how messy / dusty was it when in progress?

Hi! we got a specialist flooring firm in... cost around £1800 in all to sand, add missing tiles, and lacquer over two days. The lacquer dried overnight. Not too messy as they used a vacuum sander but very noisy! I'm not sure if it would have been doable ourselves as it's a large space and needed a lot of work (and we are not good at DIY) but possibly for smaller spaces where the floor is already in better nick!

@lucysnowe2 came here searching for a post just like yours! Which company did you use please?

Love mine. It's the original flooring from when the house was built c.1950. It'll outlive me.

We did this but with herringbone teak. Husband laid it. The bitumin was a very painful process but totally worth it now all across ground floor. Finger must be an even bigger nightmare!

I like it. Herringbone got far too fashionable which means it will look like the equivalent of a live life laugh poster in a year or two, kind of already does.
