How do you cope with the stress of moving house?

We're on a tight chain. If we don't exchange and complete within the next 2.5 weeks we'll lose our buyer as their mortgage lender won't give any more extensions to their offer (there have been endless complex delays with the paper work and we lost our onward purchAse so it's all take months)
It's touch and go whether or not we'll get moved or the whole thing will collapse.
I haven't actually slept for NIGHTS now. I'm exhausted and totally wired. I'm spending all my days on endless phone calls feeling frustrated and my work is suffering too.
We have two kids too so we still have to get them to school etc through all this. Honestly feel like I can't cope at all!!

Yeah we thought about the Airbnb thing to keep our sale in hand but tbh I'm too scared of what @FuzzyPuffling mentioned. Plus our current costs are way lower so unless we'd definitely already exchanged on the purchase too it could be too costly a mistake. And we don't want to mess the kids around. So we're not going for it

YukoandHiro · 20/10/2022 19:33

Sorry to hear that @naomi81 - I've heard of a few stories of people losing their deposits through this, because offer ran out before build is completed and then they couldn't get a new mortgage due to the economic climate.
Really really hope it works out for you.

Thanks we've also ported our current mortgage will enable us to complete after the long stop date so we can get our deposit back. But can totally see how the builders can do this, it's disgusting and shouldn't be allowed!

Frazzled2207 · 20/10/2022 19:40

God it is horrendous
we have similar last minute issues with our lender and basically it ended up being us holding up a chain of six houses for a problem that 100% wasn’t our fault.
we exchanged 42 hours before completion. Horrendous but it did Happen.

YukoandHiro · 20/10/2022 19:41

That actually makes me feel better. @Frazzled2207
Maybe it will happen for us too!! We are all that's holding up completion now

At lunchtime with no news I lost the plot, called our vendors' agent and told them they needed to authorise exchange today or I couldn't guarantee that I'd wake up tomorrow still wanting to buy their house. We exchanged an hour later Grin

Then DH crashed the car on the way home Shock - luckily nobody was hurt. I feel a bit numb at the moment but sure I will be happy once it sinks in.

Lots of positive vibes for everyone else still waiting 🤗🤞

mistletoe1 · 20/10/2022 20:31

Omg @Reallybadidea !! What a day. Glad everyone is ok.

We exchanged this afternoon. However I don’t think I’ll stop feeling on edge until I am over the threshold of that house!

YukoandHiro · 20/10/2022 20:36

@mistletoe1 congratulations! At least you know it's definitely happening. That's the main thing!

YukoandHiro · 20/10/2022 20:38

Oh great news you have exchange too @Reallybadidea .... just me left then 😞

The plan was Monday so crossing all digits!

OP posts:
mistletoe1 · 20/10/2022 21:50

Fingers crossed @YukoandHiro x

FuzzyPuffling · 21/10/2022 10:40

No, me too, YukoandHiro.

YukoandHiro · 21/10/2022 14:14

Still nothing today. I'm so anxious. Can't cope with the idea of going all the way to exchange and completion on the same day. Packing up a van just to have to unload it all again. It makes me want to cry.

Reallybadidea · 21/10/2022 14:47

I'm so sorry @YukoandHiro It's such a rubbish process and it's very difficult to think about anything else while it's ongoing. There's still time for it to happen though. Hope you can find something to distract yourself with in the meantime Smile

windysocks · 21/10/2022 15:09

I hope it all goes thru- we are waiting for a move date- chain has collapsed twice and we are in the 9th month of this. I feel in limbo with everything!

Hunkyd0ry · 21/10/2022 19:39

Our solicitors have asked a few more questions (every time they ask I worry it will mean a problem and the sale won’t go through) but they’ve also asked for dates to complete.

we haven’t found a house and the development we are keen on have pushed back their release date!

don’t know if buyers will wait until January 🤷‍♀️

mistletoe1 · 24/10/2022 14:53

Any news today @YukoandHiro ?

FuzzyPuffling · 24/10/2022 16:08

I'm as invisible on this thread as I am to my buyers solicitors!

I wish you all a calm and peaceful onward journey.

Reallybadidea · 24/10/2022 17:59

I'm really sorry @FuzzyPuffling I didn't mean to ignore you. Do you have any news?

mistletoe1 · 24/10/2022 21:50

Likewise, sorry @FuzzyPuffling, I missed your message saying you were still waiting.

Hope someone has had good news today x

YukoandHiro · 25/10/2022 00:05

Sorry everyone been a bit distracted as eldest Dd has been admitted to hospital😔 do not need this right now

But looks like we're all good to exchange tomorrow AM and complete on Friday. Really hope so as we started packing today!!

Buyers solicitors have raised more queries. It took them a month to deal with the last lot. Not looking good. ☹️

Fingers crossed for all those ready to go!

Reallybadidea · 25/10/2022 07:09

@YukoandHiro oh my goodness! I hope she's ok? Great news about exchange though! Let us know when it happens.

That's so annoying about more queries @FuzzyPuffling Are your buyers pushing their solicitors? I think you said that there are no mortgages involved? Are there any hard deadlines to complete by a particular date? Slow solicitors are the worst 😡

FuzzyPuffling · 25/10/2022 07:24

YukoandHiro how is your DD?

Two EAs and one solicitor in my 3 person chain are on holiday all this week so I can't imagine much will happen. My buyers have only just started being a bit more assertive with their slow solicitors. It's all dragging.

Expelliarmus88 · 25/10/2022 10:23

Hi everyone! Joining this as currently stressed beyond anything about house move.

Buyers buyer has mortgage expiry end of next month and solicitors still haven't confirmed exchange date. Spend all my day fervently checking emails!! The stress is unreal. We have to break the chain as our sellers only just found a property recently.

Expelliarmus88 · 25/10/2022 10:25

@mistletoe1 we are also going into air bnb...how did yours go? How long were you in temp accomm?

mistletoe1 · 25/10/2022 14:41

@Expelliarmus88 We are not having to in the end, we’re all completing on the same day. However we were very much willing to in order to help our buyer: I had booked the Airbnb for the first week of November and our removals people had storage for us.
