Another house comparison thread. I'm interested in your views please!

The area is identical for both as they're on the same road.

The second one for style and character. The garden on the first is nicer though. Both are 3x my budget, glad I live in the north!

CambsAlways · 24/09/2022 20:17

Two

Skiphopbump · 24/09/2022 20:17

The first one. I don’t like the sloped ceilings or multi level garden of the second,

cocktailclub · 24/09/2022 20:17

Number one. Don't like the decor but of course you can change that but it looks more homely and less crowded

AlwaysGinPlease · 24/09/2022 20:20

One. Much nicer!

Never been happier to be Northern!

I prefer the second house.

Quitelikeit · 24/09/2022 20:22

Two. The first one would cost £££££ to update

TwocksAway · 24/09/2022 20:23

One.
Two is just a bland box.

SuffolkBargeWoman · 24/09/2022 20:25

Isn't the usual thing on that road to buy it then massively extend it or knock it down and build something bigger?
Anyway
No. 1, the garden is nicer.

Ponderingwindow · 24/09/2022 20:29

Two, because at this stage in my life, that style of outdoor space has more appeal.

Suzi888 · 24/09/2022 20:36

No1 can put my own stamp on it, more secluded.
I am older though, I like the garden.

No 2 makes me feel overlooked, too many houses on top of eachother. Nice looking house but it’s all ‘done’.

ohfook · 24/09/2022 20:37

Going off the pictures, I'd pick house 1 because I think it has a lot more character and I love that style of staircase.

Going off the floor plans I'd pick house 2, so much more house for your money.

ivykaty44 · 24/09/2022 20:41

I’d purchase one

the master bedroom I’d put in a dressing room as an addition to the en-suite

thr garden is lovely but I’d open up the house to the garden ( French doors) and update the kitchen

LionessesRules · 24/09/2022 20:48

Have you been into them? 2 looks bitty and disjointed downstairs. So on that basis I'd buy 1.

toddlingtortoise · 24/09/2022 20:50

2 is much nicer and you’d have lots left over to make it fabulous

LionessesRules · 24/09/2022 20:50

1 is SSTC tho. Have you already offered on it?

PinkStickleBrick · 24/09/2022 20:53

The windows in number two are tiny! That only would put me off. Number one is far nicer.

Harridan1981 · 24/09/2022 20:54
  1. Much nicer plot. A bit dated but perfectly liveable, looks homely not bland
Elbo7 · 24/09/2022 20:55

One as I massively prefer the layout, I grew up in a house like that and it was lovely. The garden too is huge.

Though you get more sq ft for your money in 2 and I prefer the decor in 2...

They are both sstc though aren't they?

Ruthietuthie · 24/09/2022 20:56

One for me. Seems much lighter, with larger windows. Yes, the carpets and wall-paper are dated, but nothing you can't live with while you make it your own. Plus it seems less overlooked and the garden is far better. Two seems cramped and dark, and the bathrooms and kitchen and decor aren't anything special - I would want to change most things there too.

Hollyhead · 24/09/2022 20:57

2, unless you have at least another 100k to do up 1.

maskersanonymous · 24/09/2022 20:59

One is a better house and plot... but it is expensive as it needs a lot of work to get it to the standard of two.

ErinAoife · 24/09/2022 21:00

2nd one for me. Love the outside and the inside.

Qwerkie · 24/09/2022 21:00

1 is much better, the flow is nicer and it’s more interesting plus the garden is great.

Puffalicious · 24/09/2022 21:01

I wouldn't buy either for that money. Not helpful I know, but No1 needs a lot of decorating and I hate the staircase, No 2 is bland. A difficult one.
