Another house comparison thread. I'm interested in your views please!

The area is identical for both as they're on the same road.

Number one by far, second one is bland

basilmint · 25/09/2022 08:28

One, don't like the garden on number two and is very overlooked?

But Rightmove says they are both sold?

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 25/09/2022 08:31
  1. Bigger bedrooms, bigger rooms downstairs (despite having more space overall 2 is very bitty to me), no restricted ceiling heights, less overlooked and much much better garden. I also, personally, like the kitchen is 1 and hate the kitchen in 2.
ChubbyBroccoli · 25/09/2022 08:38

House number 1 - sensible layout, big rooms, better garden, no shit conservatory to remove.

Quitelikeacatslife · 25/09/2022 08:42

Number 1 but does need updating although livable and could do as you go along . Would end up with amazing house.
2 looks a bit wedged in the plot for that money.
Nothing is a substitute for his you feel in the house on viewing though

PRosie · 25/09/2022 08:42

No. 1 has more space and a better flow. It doesn't seem to be as overlooked as the other one. You can modernise.

Quitelikeacatslife · 25/09/2022 08:44

Just a thought, Are you selling number 2 and wondering why anyone would go for number 1?

chocolateoranges33 · 25/09/2022 08:45

Number 1. Much larger garden and I don't like the look of house 2 - all angles and slopey ceilings.

beachcitygirl · 25/09/2022 09:11

Never been happier than to be scottish. A million pounds for a "barratt " house

Move north OP -. Get a gorgeous sea view mansion

TortieQueen · 25/09/2022 10:49

I wouldn't buy either. If I had no choice though house 1 is much nicer. House 2 is wildly overlooked & has virtually no garden so no use to a family upon resale unless a lot of money is spent.

MyAnacondaMight · 25/09/2022 11:54

1 is a better house, by a long way. Just needs decorating.

knittingaddict · 25/09/2022 12:21

With my heart - 1.

with my head - 2.

DaphneduM · 25/09/2022 12:21

Definitely number one - I don't like the garden in number two, too 'overdone'. Can't believe the prices in Winchester now. I lived at Sleepers Hill, Winchester many years ago. I guess it's because of the ease of commuting to London that has made for the high prices.,

washingbasketqueen · 25/09/2022 12:30

Neither. I'd keep looking if these were my two best options. Both ugly from the outside. Both need updating. House 2 has lots of small rooms and an ugly garden.

SoupDragon · 25/09/2022 12:36

I think 1 because the outside space is so much better - you can't change that for house 2 (you could dig up the paving but it would still be terraced).

I suspect the answer is "neither" though.

StJeanDeVence · 25/09/2022 12:38

No. 1. Much nicer feel with lighter, brighter rooms. Plus a gorgeous garden.

No. 2 is overlooked and feels cramped. The first house is dated, but not unpleasantly so, and has so much more potential to be a gorgeous house.

And I agree about the nasty conservatory!!
